Hello everyone! 🙂
Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!
In 2018, I was determined to not be one of the people who would immediately dismiss the Jodie Whittaker/Chris Chibnall era of ‘Doctor Who’. I wanted to give this unique era of the new TV series a fair chance. I’m glad I did, as I’ve thoroughly enjoyed checking out Jodie Whittaker’s era of the TV show.
It’s an era that’s entertained me thoroughly from 2018 to 2022. From ‘The Woman Who Fell to Earth’ to ‘The Power of the Doctor’, it was thrilling to experience an era where the Doctor was played by a woman. Jodie Whittaker has played the Thirteenth Doctor tremendously well in spades.
It’s helped that she’s joined by some very likeable and friendly companions, including Bradley Walsh as Graham, Tosin Cole as Ryan, Mandip Gill as Yaz and John Bishop as Dan. There are noticeable flaws in certain stories of this era, but I found this era a marked improvement over what came before.
I prefer Chris Chibnall’s efforts as showrunner over Steven Moffat’s. It’s intriguing how Chris Chibnall tackled his take on ‘Doctor Who’, including a balance of historical and futuristic stories as well as introducing the Timeless Child and such. Many fans aren’t in favour, but I found this era invigorating.
I’ve had a chance to do my own take on the Thirteenth Doctor era of ‘Doctor Who’ on ‘Bradley’s Basement’. This is through stories like ‘Hank Prank’ and ‘The Two Salvadors’. I’m also happy I had the opportunity to write for the Thirteenth Doctor in my 60th anniversary story ‘The Thirteen+ Doctors’.
I’m also lucky to have met Jodie Whittaker at three comic con events in 2022. This includes London in February, Birmingham in September, and London in November. To have met one of my favourite Doctors and one of the recent ones in the TV series at three comic con events is a treasure for me. 🙂
Jodie Whittaker’s interpretation of the Thirteenth Doctor will always be a happy one for me. I’m glad she played the Doctor from 2018 to 2022, as I would look forward to checking out every episode of her era, whether it’d be on BBC TV or BBC iPlayer. I hope she’ll get to do the Big Finish audios soon. 🙂
Thanks for reading!
Bye for now!
Tim 🙂

While, I enjoyed the Moffat Era a lot more than you did, I agree that Jodie was an amazing Doctor and loved her time as our favorite Time Lord.

I was completely against a female Doctor I make no secret of it but Jodie quickly changed my opinion & I admit I was wrong a female Doctor can work if you cast the right actress & Jodies era was fantastic featuring great stories, drama, scares & action.
Shame she didn’t stay longer but overall a excellent era for the show.

Hi Simon,
I’m glad you changed your mind about Jodie Whittaker as the Thirteenth Doctor. I’m pleased you enjoyed her era from beginning to end, and I’m glad Chris Chibnall cast her in the role since she played the Doctor superbly. It’s a shame her era wasn’t long enough and I’m saddened Chris Chibnall didn’t last beyond the time he spent as showrunner of ‘Doctor Who’. I’m glad this era turned out well for you and me, since I know we were anxious about it from the beginning. Very pleased the stories featuring Jodie’s Doctor were enjoyable and entertaining to check out on TV. Hopefully, Jodie will return to play the Thirteenth Doctor in the Big Finish audios.
Many thanks,
Tim 🙂
