Hello everyone! 🙂
Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!
Like Series 6, Series 7 in the new ‘Doctor Who’ TV series – Matt Smith’s third and final season as the Eleventh Doctor – is divided into two halves. Unlike Series 6 though, the two halves feel like they’re two separate seasons – with the Pond Season shown in 2012 and the Clara Season shown in 2013.
In my opinion, Series 7 is a better season than Series 6 in the Matt Smith/Eleventh Doctor era. Not as a good as Series 5, but the stories featured throughout Series 7 are mostly easy to follow. There isn’t a convoluted storyline going on throughout Series 7, which I felt was prominent throughout Series 6.
The first five episodes of Series 7 are the Pond Season shown in the autumn of 2012. They depict the final adventures of Amy Pond and Rory Williams as ‘Doctor Who’ companions. In my opinion, the five adventures showcase the best of Amy and Rory and their friendship with the Eleventh Doctor. 🙂
For the rest of Series 7, including the 2012 Christmas Special ‘The Snowmen’ and the last eight episodes, they form the Clara Season, as we’re introduced to Jenna Coleman as Clara Oswald. There’s a mystery regarding Clara’s character, as the Eleventh Doctor saw her die twice in Series 7. 😐
It started in ‘Asylum of the Daleks’ when she was Oswin Oswald, and it became prominent in ‘The Snowmen’ when she was Clara Oswin Oswald. Clara’s mystery as ‘the impossible girl’ helped to set up the 50th anniversary celebrations in the new TV series, as depicted in ‘The Name of the Doctor’. 🙂
There’s a lot going on in the Clara Season compared to the Pond Season in Series 7, but I feel that the Clara Season forms a special chapter in the Eleventh Doctor’s life. This is especially in the chemistry between Matt Smith as the Eleventh Doctor and Jenna Coleman as Clara, which I enjoyed.
Thanks for reading!
Bye for now!

Season 7: Part 2 without Amy and Rory took some getting used to. But Clara for how her bond with the Doctor evolved made up for it. After the 50th Anniversary season, Dr. Who would get bumpy in its story creativity for the remainder of Moffat’s reign. But he certainly gave his best in building up to The Day Of The Doctor and Matt Smith’s regeneration finale. Thank you, Tim, for your summary.

Hi scifimike,
Thanks for sharing your thoughts on Series 7 of the new ‘Doctor Who’ TV series. I’m glad Clara’s bonding with the Eleventh Doctor made up for the absence of Amy and Rory for you. Yeah, the stories after the 50th anniversary season in the rest of the Steven Moffat era aren’t as good as they could’ve been. Hopefully, my thoughts on the rest of the Steven Moffat era will be unveiled in the rest of the 60th Anniversary Marathon on ‘Bradley’s Basement’. Hope you’ll enjoy my thoughts on ‘The Day of the Doctor’ and ‘The Time of the Doctor’ coming up this week.
Many thanks for your comments.
Tim 🙂
