Hello everyone! 🙂
Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!
In my opinion, Series 4 of the new ‘Doctor Who’ TV series is the best season out of the David Tennant/Tenth Doctor era. I have very fond memories of this season when I saw it back in 2008. It was my first proper ‘Doctor Who’ season to watch on TV after I saw the previous seasons on DVD. 🙂
What works well for Series 4 in its favour is the last three episodes where it features the return of Rose Tyler in ‘Turn Left’ as well as the team-up of the Tenth Doctor and his companions in ‘The Stolen Earth’/’Journey’s End’, including Donna, Rose, Martha, Captain Jack, Sarah Jane and Mickey. 🙂
Yes, I know Jackie was in the TARDIS too, but she wasn’t allowed to touch any of the TARDIS controls. 😀 What also works very well throughout Series 4 of the new ‘Doctor Who’ TV series is the Doctor-companion pairing of David Tennant as the Tenth Doctor and Catherine Tate as Donna Noble.
Following her guest role in ‘The Runaway Bride’, Catherine Tate as Donna became a popular ‘Doctor Who’ companion with David Tennant’s Doctor. This is something that could have ended in failure, but thanks to the chemistry between David Tennant and Catherine Tate, it worked very well indeed.
I like that Donna doesn’t see the Doctor as a romantic love interest and that the two of them just stayed friends whilst travelling in the TARDIS. This was quite a departure from the relationship between the Doctor and Rose in Series 2 and the relationship between Ten and Martha in Series 3. 🙂
Series 4 also reintroduced the Sontarans in the new TV series as well as reintroduced Davros, played by Julian Bleach. There’s also the introduction of Alex Kingston as River Song in ‘Silence in the Library’/’Forest of the Dead’. Series 4 is a ‘Doctor Who’ season I cherish greatly and I’m glad I saw it.
Thanks for reading!
Bye for now!
Tim 🙂

The Stolen Earth/Journey’s End would start the borrow-time phase for the 10th Doctor, for which it was interesting to see Tennant’s final year on Dr. Who in just a few specials. And after RTD had (in the same order that they debuted in the classic series) brought back the Daleks, Cybermen, Master, Sontarans and Davros (as well as the Autons and the Macra), it was even more fascinating to learn how other recurring villainies of the classic era, like the Silurians, Zygons and Ice Warriors, would make their returns under Moffat’s reign.
It was a fine first four years for the modern Who thanks to RTD and thank you too, Tim, for your S4 summary.

Hi scifimike,
Glad you enjoyed my summary on Series 4 of the new TV series. The original RTD era featuring Christopher Ecceleston and David Tennant is where I was very happy as a ‘Doctor Who’ fan. It was fun to check out ‘Doctor Who’ through the new TV series, especially through the monsters like the Daleks, the Cybermen, the Master, the Sontarans and Davros. Series 4 certainly paved the way for how exciting ‘Doctor Who’ could be, especially with invigorating stories and characters throughout, including the Tenth Doctor and Donna.
Many thanks for your comments.
Tim 🙂
