‘THE SLIPPERY DOCTOR VON SCHLICK’

Please feel free to comment on my review.

This story features another new ‘Spider-Man’ villain called Dr. Von Schlick – yes, I know ridiculous that name sounds. But honestly, should you be that surprised? These ‘Spider-Man’ stories are corny throughout the 1960s series. At least, the ‘Spider-Man’ movie trilogy by Sam Raimi has some dignity.

In the story, Von Schlick is an evil scientist who wears a rubber, no-stick costume with petroleum-based bubbles emitted from his fingers. He causes disruption at some oil refineries I believe and Spider-Man has to stop him. Unfortunately, Spider-Man’s webbing can’t catch Dr. Von Schlick out. 😐

Thankfully, as the story progresses, Spider-Man creates a new special webbing to stop the evil scientist. I must admit, I did find this story quite boring. I wouldn’t mind Dr. Von Schlick as a villain, but again like most of the ‘Spider-Man’ stories of this series, we do not know very much about them.

Again, as I said before in previous reviews, I think there should be more people than just Peter Parker, Betty Brant and J. Jonah Jameson for the Daily Bugle. We’ve only had one appearance of Aunt May so far. I’m surprised there’s no Harry Osborn or Norman Osborn making an appearance. 😐

‘The Slippery Doctor Von Schlick’ rating – 6/10
