‘GO WITH THE FLOW’
Please feel free to comment on my review.
The first time I saw this ‘Beast Wars’ episode was on the official UK Volume 3 VHS containing episodes of Season 3 never shown on GMTV for the first time. This was the start of the end for me in terms of ‘Beast Wars’, as I checked out Volumes 3 and 4 in a row.
In ‘Go with the Flow’, Cheetor reunites with Chak and Una, the two proto-human children introduced in ‘Cutting Edge’. I’m surprised Chak and Una recognised Cheetor, considering he had changed since the last time he’d seen them in the story ‘Feral Scream’.
Or maybe Cheetor has met them more than once before ‘Go with the Flow’ following his Transmetal II mutation. A pity we never got that story to depict that. And this is the first time we hear the two kids’ names mentioned – Chak and Una – which is quite interesting.
Rattrap also turns up to join Cheetor and the two kids to keep an eye on them. It turns out Cheetor has been teaching Chak and Una lessons on how to defend themselves. It seems to have helped, as shown later when Una picks up certain words from Cheetor’s lessons.
Meanwhile, Megatron plans to use the proto-humans to help finish a new deadly weapon to destroy the Maximals at their make-shift base to protect the Autobot Ark. This leads to Una being kidnapped by the Predacons, including Inferno and Waspinator, during a fight.
Rattrap and Depth Charge are ordered by Optimus Primal to go and rescue Una from the Predacons. It was very interesting to see Rattrap and Depth Charge’s interaction, as Depth Charge isn’t the easiest Maximal to work with and ends up crashing to the ground.
Whilst Rattrap leaves Depth Charge to go and rescue Una, Megatron has Una work on certain tasks to complete the powerful disruptor ray intent on destroying the Maximals. It was funny to see Megatron instructing Una to do tasks and her not comprehending them.
Thankfully, Rattrap saves Una and soon they return to Depth Charge where they ride across the river to escape the Predacons, including Inferno, Waspinator and Dinobot II. Fortunately, Megatron’s disruptor ray doesn’t work, as Una removed the stabiliser crystal.
‘Go with the Flow’ rating – 8/10
