‘HAPPY BIRTHDAY ZACK’ (MMPR)

Please feel free to comment on my review.

Yes! From the title of this episode, you already know what it’s about. 😀 It’s Zack’s birthday, and his friends Jason, Billy, Trini and Kimberly are preparing a surprise party for him. They decorate the Youth Center one evening after hours. Rita Repulsa also wishes to give a gift to Zack on his birthday.

The preparations for Zack’s birthday at Ernie’s Juice Bar are slightly comedic. For example, Ernie makes a birthday cake from Billy’s ‘Cake-o-Matic’ machine. I guess Billy got that from Wallace & Gromit somehow! 😀 The cake machine however plays up, and the results are messy and disastrous.

Bulk and Skull also come in to cause trouble by gate-crashing the party preparations. Seriously, these two can be very annoying at this point. Are they really that mad about Trini and Kimberly refusing to go out with them on a date? Fortunately, the four teens foil Bulk and Skull’s party-crashing attempts.

There is a scene where Ernie discusses with Jason and Billy about the Power Rangers and who they are. Ernie compares the Power Rangers to Batman at one point. Does that mean Batman and the Power Rangers exist in the same universe? It’d be an intriguing crossover to uncover, wouldn’t it? 😀

When I first wrote this review back in December 2017, I was unaware of the ‘Justice League’/’Power Rangers’ comic story that was made from January to September in that year. I will need to check out the comic to uncover whether the Justice League and the Power Rangers exist in the same universe.

When Zack is seen coming to Ernie’s place by… Ernie, the Rangers hide every evidence of the party preparations…in fast motion. Seriously, how can they hide all the party decorations away from Zack before he comes in? Is this a special power Zordon had given them when they became the Rangers?

That can’t be it, because Ernie was in fast motion too. 😐 Zack is under the impression that the others forgot his birthday. It was amusing when Kimberly tried to make out that she forgot Zack’s birthday by talking about her ‘poodles’. 😀 Soon, Zack is attacked by Rita Repulsa, and she gives him her present.

It’s a monster called the Knasty Knight, who is a formidable foe for the Rangers. He seems unbeatable as he corrodes their weapons. I liked it when Zack had the idea of using the Knasty Knight’s energies against him. The Knasty Knight gets defeated, and Zack soon has his surprise party.

‘Happy Birthday Zack’ (MMPR) rating – 7/10
