‘FOR WHOM THE BELL TROLLS’ (MMPR)

Please feel free to comment on my review.

‘For Whom The Bell Trolls’ is a very unusual ‘Power Rangers’ episode. In the episode, the five teens at Angel Grove High School have their Hobby Week in Miss Appleby’s class. Yes, this happens to be the first episode where we’re introduced to Miss Appleby as a teacher in the ‘Power Rangers’ series.

The five teens each present their hobbies to the class whilst Bulk and Skull scorn and mock them. I know they’re bullies, but it’s ironic when they do their flea circus presentation, it goes wrong, and everyone ends up laughing at them. Rita Repulsa (somehow) also watches what goes on in the class.

The hobbies by the five teens are interesting. Jason shows off a Bo staff demonstration, Kimberly shows off a handstand on the teacher’s desk, Zack shows off surfing on a surfboard, Billy shows off his miniature volcano set, and Trini…shows off her dolls. This includes Mr. Ticklesneezer. Seriously?!

Don’t get me wrong, I appreciate Trini having her dolls since she was a little girl, but it’s peculiar she would keep dolls in her teens and consider it a hobby. Mind you, the dolls happen to have interesting backgrounds, since one of the dolls is Japanese and Mr. Ticklesneezer has special powers.

Anyway, whilst Trini is asleep at night, Rita wants Mr. Ticklesneezer. She sends Squatt to sneak into Trini’s room and steal the doll. Being stolen, Ticklesneezer becomes life-sized. Rita sends him out to magically collect things in his Goody Bottles, and her plan is for Ticklesneezer to capture the Rangers.

Mr. Ticklesneezer isn’t really a bad guy. According to Zordon, he’s being controlled under the influence of Rita. He doesn’t want to cause harm, even when he collects things in his bottles. It would have been nice for Trini to try and connect to Mr. Ticklesneezer, considering that he’s her doll.

Sadly, that doesn’t happen in the episode, as Trini and Billy are captured by Mr. Ticklesneezer in Trini’s car. Soon, the Power Rangers stop Ticklesneezer’s mayhem, as they get into the Dino Megazord. The Rangers make Ticklesneezer put all the things he collected back to where they were.

But it turns out to be a dream. I’m not making that up! The episode ends with Trini waking up and realising the adventure with Mr. Ticklesneezer was all a dream. I was rather disappointed when I saw that. Mind you, I wonder whether the events of this episode were a dream or was some of it real? 😐
