‘NO CLOWNING AROUND’ (MMPR)
Please feel free to comment on my review.

This ‘Power Rangers’ episode has the five teens at a funfair in Angel Grove Park. The episode also introduces us to Trini’s cousin Sylvia, who joins her, Kimberly, Jason, Zack and Billy at the fair. However, trouble ensues, as evil clowns cause trouble, and they turn Sylvia into a cardboard cut-out.
Now you’d think that the clowns themselves would be sinister human beings or something else not connected to Rita Repulsa. But it turns out they are connected to her and are actually Putties. I wonder if all the monstrous plans and evil foes are devised by Rita in the ‘Mighty Morphin’ series. 😀
It was interesting to see Trini’s cousin in the episode. She’s meant to babysit her, and she becomes worried when Sylvia goes off with one of the clowns called Pineapple. Trini gets to catch up with her, but she witnesses Pineapple turn Sylvia into a cardboard cut-out and becomes horrified and angry. 😐
Thankfully, Trini takes Sylvia to Billy’s lab where Alpha helps to return her cousin back to normal. I like how Jason, Billy, Zack and Kimberly gets everyone out of the funfair, warning them that Rita is in the area. Bulk and Skull were also at the funfair. I wonder if the two heard the warning and ran off. 🙂
The clown Pineapple happens to be a monster called Pineoctopus. Essentially, he’s a pineapple with octopus tentacles. 😀 Pineoctopus tries to turn the Rangers into cardboard cut-outs, but their suits protect them. I quite liked it when Trini and Alpha discover that the thing to restore Sylvia is water. 🙂
This is a ‘Power Rangers’ episode that doesn’t feature Zordon in it. I assume he allowed Alpha to help Trini restore Sylvia back to 3-D form when at Billy’s lab. Speaking of Billy, I liked it when he saw Pineapple’s reflection in a mirror, and he moved out of the way before being turned into cardboard.
The Rangers soon summon their Dinozords and they fight Pineoctopus when he’s giant-sized. I like how each of the Dinozords fight Pineoctopus individually first before they combine to become the Megazord. They also manage to beat Pineoctopus very easily once they manage to trap him in a net.
‘No Clowning Around’ is a pretty average run-of-the-mill filler episode from the ‘Power Rangers’ TV series. It’s not great, as I expected the evil clowns to be something else instead of Putties. But it was very entertaining, and I enjoyed the funfair sequences as well as getting to meet Trini’s cousin Sylvia.
‘No Clowning Around’ (MMPR) rating – 7/10
