‘FORBIDDEN FRUITS’
Please feel free to comment on my review.

In this episode, the army has run out of ‘stuff’ they put in tea. This means that the men cannot stop thinking about women. I didn’t think that was a thing that happened in the army when ‘stuff’ is put into tea to make you not think about women. Mind you, I’ve never been in the army to find that out.
Colonel Reynolds, Captain Ashwood and the Sgt-Major are victims in this regard. Colonel Reynolds is having an affair with the wife of a colleague – Margaret Courtenay as Daphne Waddilove-Evans. Apparently, Margaret Courtney has been in two versions of ‘The Mirror Crack’d from Side to Side’. 😀
She was in the 1980 film with Angela Lansbury and the 1992 BBC TV adaptation with Joan Hickson. It was interesting to discover that upon reviewing this episode. Colonel Reynolds attempts to see Mrs. Waddilove-Evans when her husband is not home. It doesn’t turn out to be plain-sailing as thought. 😐
Meanwhile, the Chinese maid Ling Su (played by Yasuko Nagazumi) is acting as a go-between for the correspondence between Mrs. Waddilove-Evans and Colonel Reynolds. The Sgt-Major is quite taken by Ling-Su and a date is arranged with her in the moonlight. This involves the drinking of tea here. 😀
The Concert Party hear about this date arranged between the Sgt-Major and the Chinese Maid and they decide to follow and take a compromising photograph. By the way, it was amusing to see the Concert Party dressed up in their ‘concert outfits’ when the Sgt-Major interrupted their rehearsal. 😀
They had to stay in their outfits when the Sgt-Major ordered them about on parade and such, making disapproving remarks about them. What did he expect? I mean, the Concert Party have been doing performances for soldiers instead of being soldiers in the way the Sgt-Major wants them to be.
Meanwhile, due to a series of accidents, the Sgt-Major is photographed with Mrs. Waddilove-Evans instead. Captain Ashwood also assumed Mrs. Waddilove-Evans wanted to see him instead of Colonel Reynolds. Colonel Reynold also has his shirt taken off by Ling Su after assuming she was her mistress.
The episode ends with Michael Moore as Major Waddilove-Evans walking in and Solly clearing things up by explaining it was all a rehearsal for a farce the Concert Party were staging. Rangi Ram also finishes the episode with an Indian proverb. Overall, an entertaining but rather silly episode to see. 🙂
