Hello everyone! 🙂
Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!
It’s Day 12 of ‘Bradley’s Basement’s Advent Calendar 2025.
Is it time for Thomas the Tank Engine to be in snow…before the Christmas episode?
‘THOMAS, TERENCE AND THE SNOW’
In this ‘Thomas’ episode, we’re introduced to a new character – Terence the Tractor. Terence is an orange tractor that meets Thomas on an autumn day. Thomas finds his caterpillar tracks ‘ugly’ whilst Terence tells him he can go anywhere using his caterpillars.
This episode is based on the story of the same name from the fourth ‘Railway Series’ book called ‘Tank Engine Thomas Again’ – the third story to be precise. It’s interesting how Terence is introduced in this episode, especially to assist Thomas out of a tricky situation.
This episode is also the first to introduce us to snow on the Island of Sodor, as we quickly move from autumn to winter. Thomas must use his blue snow plough to get through heavy snow drifts on the rails. Thomas isn’t convinced that the snow plough is necessary to use.
I was quite scared of this episode as a kid, especially when Thomas went through a tunnel with Annie and Clarabel behind him and ended up crashing through a huge pile of snow on the rails. Thomas’ spinning wheels when he couldn’t move did scare me as a little kid. 😐
Thankfully, Terence comes to the rescue by taking Annie and Clarabel away first before getting Thomas out of the snow. Terence’s musical theme formed the song ‘Don’t Judge a Book by its Cover’ years later. There’s also a small cameo of Bertie the Bus in this episode.
Thanks for reading and watching!

Bye for now!
