Let’s see what Thomas is up to today in this ‘Thomas the Tank Engine’ episode!

‘THOMAS GOES FISHING’

‘Thomas Goes Fishing’ is based on the story of the same name from the fourth ‘Railway Series’ book ‘Tank Engine Thomas Again’. It was the second story in the book and it’s the twelfth episode in Season 1 of ‘Thomas’. I’ve fond memories of seeing this episode as a kid.

In this episode, Thomas has the desire to go fishing, but the engines tell him that “Engines don’t go fishing”. When Thomas needs to refill his tank with water from a water column, it happens to be ‘out of order’. Thomas’ driver decides to go and fetch some water from the river.

When Thomas’ engine crew collect water from the river, they need to use a bucket containing five holes. Incidentally, doesn’t the bucket have six holes when water is being collected for Thomas? Plus, the water in that river appears to be very dirty, doesn’t it? 😀

Once Thomas is filled up and his thirst is quenched, he and his coaches Annie and Clarabel continue their journey, only for Thomas to feel a sudden pain in his boiler and for steam to rush from his safety valve. They go somewhere quiet to find out what’s going on.

On a siding out of the way, Thomas has workmen sort out his tank. The Fat Controller also turns up to find out what’s going on. It turns out Thomas has fish in his tank. The fish are soon taken out, and the Fat Controller and the workmen end up having fish and chips. 😀
