To add on to the tribute I made to Prunella Scales recently, I enjoyed her in some of the Tesco adverts that I used to see as a kid when I watched kid’s TV shows in the 1990s. It’s amazing that I saw Prunella Scales in those adverts as well as Sybil in ‘Fawlty Towers’. 🙂

Apparently, Prunella Scales did these Tesco adverts for 10 years, playing ‘Dotty’, appearing opposite Jane Horrocks as her daughter Kate. I’m amazed Jane Horrocks is in these Tesco adverts with Prunella, since she voiced Babs in the ‘Chicken Run’ movies.

One of the Tesco adverts with Prunella Scales is one I used to see very often, as I recorded it on one of my VHS tapes for episodes of ‘Beetleborgs’ and ‘Beast Wars’ via GMTV. The advert involves a baby. 😀 I’m amazed I’ve been able to find it on YouTube after all this time.

I’m pretty sure that this advert is what introduced me to Tesco when growing up as a kid as well as making me aware of their tagline Every Little Helps. I do find myself going to Tesco quite often to buy a sandwich for work, and it’s regularly from an Extra superstore.

Revisiting these Tesco adverts brings back fond memories of my childhood, especially in remembering Prunella Scales beyond ‘Fawlty Towers’. I can’t say I’ve seen every Tesco advert with Prunella Scales, but the ones I’ve seen have been entertaining in equal measure.

I do recall a Tesco advert involving a Nativity scene at Christmas time with Prunella Scales, which is amusing. When you’re a kid watching these adverts, they never leave you, especially regarding the actors who perform in them and Prunella is very entertaining.
