5…4…3…2…1…‘BRADLEY’S BASEMENT’ IS GO!!!!! 😀
Hello everyone! 🙂
Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!
This year, it’s the 60th anniversary of ‘Thunderbirds’! 🙂 I’m very pleased that I’ve been able to share my thoughts on this action-packed TV series featuring characters in the form of Supermarionation puppets along with their rescue vehicles saving people’s lives.
The first time I shared my thoughts on ‘Thunderbirds’ was in April 2018 where I had created a page for the series on my blog as well as pages for the machines and characters featured in the TV series. I’ve also shared my review on the first episode ‘Trapped In The Sky’.
The intention was to share more ‘Thunderbirds’ reviews after that, including the rest of the TV show as well as on the movies that came after it. Unfortunately, other projects got in the way. Thus, I couldn’t share more in-depth thoughts on the series and films in 2018.
In November 2019, I shared all the ‘Thunderbirds’ reviews I’d done so far when I transferred my overall review on the TV show from my Amazon site. The reviews were brief and I didn’t have time to extend and update them then, but I’m happy that I shared them.
It was in July 2021 that I was able to catch up and do extended and updated reviews on the ‘Thunderbirds’ TV episodes. This included all 26 episodes of Season 1 and all 6 episodes of Season 2. What’s more, I got to enjoy revisiting the 32 episodes in my own DVD box set.
Incidentally, I’ve had my DVD cover for the ‘Thunderbirds’ DVD box set signed by Shane Rimmer, who voiced Scott Tracy in the TV series and the two movies he was in. This was at the ‘Dimensions 2015’ convention in Newcastle in October 2015 when he signed it. 🙂
After extending and updating my reviews on the ‘Thunderbirds’ TV series, I shared my reviews on the two ‘Thunderbirds’ films, including the 1966 film ‘Thunderbirds Are Go’ and the 1967 film ‘Thunderbird 6’. Those two films continue to be very entertaining for me.
In August 2021, I reviewed the three anniversary episodes that celebrated 50 years of ‘Thunderbirds’, including ‘Introducing Thunderbirds’, ‘The Abominable Snowman’ and ‘The Stately Homes Robberies’. It was very nice to see them when I subscribed to Britbox.
In September 2021, I shared my in-depth review on the 2021 hardback book and the Anderson Entertainment/Big Finish audio adaptation of the ‘Thunderbirds’ story ‘Terror From The Stars’ by John Theydon. It was an amazing experience to check out that story. 🙂
The last ‘Thunderbirds’ review I shared in 2021 was on the 2004 live-action film ‘Thunderbirds’, directed by Jonathan Frakes of ‘Star Trek’ fame. Even though that film is not regarded very highly and I don’t consider it a good ‘Thunderbirds’ film, I’m very pleased I got to review it.
One of the highlights of the 2004 film is the casting of Sophia Myles, who played Lady Penelope, as well as Ron Cook as Parker. This year, I met Sophia Myles at ‘MegaCon Live Birmingham’ at the National Exhibition Centre (NEC) in Birmingham in March, which is great!
I had a nice encounter with Sophia. For me, she signed a photo of herself as Lady Penelope from the film. I had photos of me taken with Sophia along with Sarah Sutton and Paul McGann (from ‘Doctor Who’) and I enjoyed her sharing her memories of the 2004 film. 🙂
As well as ‘Thunderbirds’, I’ve been able to check out other Gerry Anderson-produced TV shows via Britbox and on DVD, including ‘Stingray’, ‘Fireball XL5’ and ‘Captain Scarlet and the Mysterons’. I’m pleased I’ve seen those shows and shared quick thoughts on them.
‘Thunderbirds’ is a series that I’ve grown up with since childhood, even to the point of having a birthday cake in the shape of Thunderbird 1, which I shared in one of my birthday posts in May 2018. I look forward to when I get to share more ‘Thunderbirds’ reviews in future.
Thanks for reading!
Bye for now!
Tim 🙂

Thank you, Tim, and Happy 60th for the Thunderbirds. 🎉
