BB@10 – Reflection on ‘Back to the Future’

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

Today, I’m taking my Mum to see the stage musical production of the first ‘Back to the Future’ movie at the Adelphi Theatre in London. Whether I’ll do another review on it, I don’t know, as I previously saw ‘Back to the Future – The Musical’ in London this August.

The ‘Back to the Future’ movie trilogy is something that really means a lot to me. The first time I saw the ‘Back to the Future’ movie trilogy was in December 2002. I watched all three films along with the first ‘Spider-Man’ movie, making it a very memorable Christmas.

For my blog, I’ve been able to share my thoughts on the ‘Back to the Future’ movie trilogy in various forms, especially when I get the chance to revisit it now and again. After all, the ‘Back to the Future’ films are timeless classics, starring Michael J. Fox and Christopher Lloyd.

The first time I shared anything ‘Back to the Future’-related was on the 21st of October 2015. Yes! My blog started in the year where Marty McFly and Doc Emmet Brown visited the ‘future’ in 2015, and it’s being referred to as ‘Back to the Future’ Day nowadays.

Of course, we don’t live in the 2015 as predicted by ‘Back to the Future, Part II’, as we don’t have flying cars and the fashion sense is all wrong. Plus, there aren’t many hoverboards. But subtle aspects of ‘Back to the Future’s future have popped up in some way in 2015.

This includes the advancement of technology compared to how things were in 1985. I’ve even shared a blog post containing videos produced by China Uncensored on what ‘Back to the Future, Part II’ got right and got wrong, which was fun to watch back in 2016. 🙂

I’ve had a chance to share my reviews on the ‘Back to the Future’ films in May 2016. On reflection, the reviews aren’t as detailed compared to later reviews, as I transferred them from Amazon.co.uk page when I was setting things up for my blog back in 2015 and 2016.

Would I do updated reviews on the ‘Back to the Future’ films at all? I would like to do. The thing is, it’s trying to find the time to do it. Plus, it would have to be in a special DVD or Blu-ray box set. It’s something for me to consider and one that I wouldn’t dismiss entirely.

I had a chance to sit in the Delorean when I attended ‘Stars of Time Film & Comic Con 2016 @ The Tropicana’ in Weston-super-Mare in August 2016. I had a photo taken of me sitting in the Delorean with a certificate to go with it. I’m amazed I had my photo taken. 🙂

When I showed my certificate and photo of me sitting in the Delorean to Sarah Sutton (Nyssa of Traken in ‘Doctor Who’), she signed the certificate for me with my name on it. It’s one of the very happiest memories for me in attending a convention and seeing Sarah. 🙂

From the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020, I shared a ‘Back to the Future’ meme for four reviews where Doc Brown said, “Marty, whatever you do, don’t go to 2020”. This was for the ‘Timeslip’ story ‘The Age of the Death Lottery’ and the ‘Doctor Who’ story ‘Displaced’.

It was also for my quick review on the movie ‘Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery’ and for the final ‘Timeslip’ story ‘The Time of the Tipping Point’. I don’t know if I’ll use the ‘Back to the Future’ 2020 meme a fifth time, but I’ve found it to be a favourite joke on my blog. 🙂

I got the chance to see ‘Back to the Future, Part II’ at the cinema for Back to the Future’ Day in October 2024. And this year, I got to review the first ‘Back to the Future’ movie novelization by George Gipe, in preparation for me to see the ‘Back to the Future’ musical.

I’m pleased I saw ‘Back to the Future – The Musical’ in London in August this year and I’m looking forward to seeing it again today. ‘Back to the Future’ will always mean a lot to me and I’m looking forward to checking out more, including the next two movie novelizations. 🙂

Thanks for reading!

Bye for now!

Tim 🙂
