Quick Teaser Thoughts – ‘Shrek 5’

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

Happy Birthday, Millie! 🙂

Yes, today, it’s Millie Gibson’s birthday. Millie is well-known for playing Ruby Sunday in ‘Doctor Who’. I’m pleased and feel lucky that I’ve met her at conventions, including ‘London Comic Con Winter’ in November 2024 and lately at ‘Collectormania Milton Keynes’ in May 2025. 🙂

I didn’t think I’d get to meet Millie so soon since I shared her casting announcement back November 2022 and seeing her as Ruby in ‘The Church on Ruby Road’, Series 14 and Series 15. I’m looking forward to seeing Millie again at ‘Film & Comic Con Cardiff’ in October this year.

Apparently, one of Millie’s favourite films is ‘Shrek 2’. I love ‘Shrek 2’ and consider that and the first film to be the best out of four in the film series so far. I’m not so keen on ‘Shrek the Third’ and ‘Shrek Forever After’, but they’re enjoyable enough to watch at home.

As I’ve shared a quick review on all four ‘Shrek’ films in August 2022, I thought I’d share my thoughts on the upcoming release of ‘Shrek 5’ in December 2026. I know it’s been a while since the cast announcement teaser came out in February, but I might as well share them today. 😀

In fact, let’s check out the cast announcement teaser for ‘Shrek 5’ in the video below.

So, based on the teaser, there’s not much to go on. I mean, it’s amazing that a ‘Shrek 5’ is happening at all since I thought the film series finished in 2010 with ‘Shrek Forever After’. Hopefully, it’ll be very worthwhile to see this fifth movie for Christmas in December 2026.

I’m pleased that Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy and Cameron Diaz are returning to voice Shrek, Donkey and Fiona respectively. It’s also very interesting that Zendaya is joining the cast to play Felicia, one of Shrek and Fiona’s three children from the third and fourth films.

This makes me wonder about where the other two children are – Farkle and Fergal, I believe they’re called. I assume they’re going to be in the fifth film at some point. Again, it’s early to tell at this stage, and I don’t know what the actual plot of ‘Shrek 5’ is about yet.

Zendaya is well-known for playing Michelle ‘MJ’ Jones in the ‘Spider-Man’ movies with Tom Holland in the ‘Marvel Cinematic Universe’. I’m looking forward to how she voices Felicia, Shrek and Fiona’s daughter, and what the character’s role for the movie will be like. 🙂

A notable absence is Puss in Boots, as voiced by Antonio Banderas from the second, third and fourth films. I don’t know if this means that Puss in Boots won’t be in ‘Shrek 5’, but then maybe it’s best he’s not in this film. He has had his own film series lately. Interesting to see the Magic Mirror and Pinocchio in the teaser video. I assume they’re in the film too.

The animation style seems different in ‘Shrek 5’ compared to the first four films. Many have complained about the Shrek’s design doesn’t match to how he appeared in the first four films. Maybe this will change once the film is out at cinemas and the animation will be okay.

Like I said, there’s not much to go on in terms of what ‘Shrek 5’ is going to be like, especially from watching the teaser video. But I’m looking forward to seeing ‘Shrek 5’ when it comes out at cinemas in December 2026 and hopefully, it’ll be very entertaining.

In the meantime, here’s me meeting Shrek and Gingy at Madame Tussauds in London back in February 2022. 😀

Bye for now!
