Val Kilmer (1959-2025)

Hello everyone.

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley.

I’m very saddened by the news that Val Kilmer has passed away. Val Kilmer played Bruce Wayne/Batman in the 1995 film ‘Batman Forever’. I greatly enjoyed him in that film. It’s a pity that he didn’t get to play Batman beyond one movie, as I like his take on the character.

I’ve also enjoyed him in the two ‘Top Gun’ movies he was in, including ‘Top Gun’ in 1986 and ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ in 2022. ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ was his final film performance. I knew he was ill at the time, but I didn’t realise how serious his illness was, and it’s so sad.

Val Kilmer has also been in films like ‘Tombstone’, which I’ve yet to see. I hope I’ll get to see the 1993 film someday to commemorate his legacy. For me, Val Kilmer is one of my favourite actors to play Bruce Wayne/Batman. I’m pleased he played the character when he did.

Incidentally, Val Kilmer also voiced Moses and God in the 1998 animated film ‘The Prince of Egypt’. Wow! I’m surprised I didn’t realise that before. I must revisit the film sometime. There’s no doubt Val Kilmer has made a huge impact in films to many people over the years.

My prayers and thoughts go to the friends and family of Val Kilmer during this difficult time.

      Thanks scifimike,

It was nice to come across Jim Carrey’s tribute to Val Kilmer today:

“I’m remembering Val Kilmer today with great admiration for him as a man and as a generational talent who left us an enviable legacy of indelible acting performances.

His greatest artistic achievements were rivaled only by the grace and courage with which he endured his life’s most challenging moments. Wishing his family so much love.”

      Best wishes,

      Tim 😀

You’re welcome, Tim. When it comes to recreating famous characters, I liked what Val did for The Saint better than Batman Forever.

        Thanks scifimike,

I’ve not seen ‘The Saint’ 1977 film with Val Kilmer yet. I’m only familiar with Roger Moore’s interpretation of the character and I have seen some episodes of ‘Return of the Saint’ with Ian Ogilvy. Hopefully, I’ll get a chance to check out ‘The Saint’ film with Val Kilmer someday soon.

        Best wishes,

        Tim 🙂
