Hello everyone! 🙂
Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!
I saw ‘Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl’ on BBC iPlayer on Christmas Day! 🙂 I greatly enjoyed seeing the film. It was a very nice film to sit through and I felt very relaxed watching it. The ‘Wallace & Gromit’ nostalgia came back for me as I watched the film. 🙂
‘Vengeance Most Fowl’ is the sixth ‘Wallace & Gromit’ film made and it’s the second feature-length film. The first was ‘The Curse of the Were-Rabbit’ made in 2005. Hopefully, I’ll get the chance to review both feature-length films in-depth sometime soon in 2025. 🙂
This film happens to be a sequel to ‘The Wrong Trousers’, the 1993 short film that featured the villainous penguin named Feathers McGraw. It was great to see Feathers McGraw back in ‘Vengeance Most Fowl’ and I really enjoyed how silently cunning he is throughout.
In the film, Wallace invents a brand-new robot in the shape of a gnome named Norbot. Essentially, he’s designed to do jobs around the house and develops a mind of its own. Gromit is anxious and suspicious about Wallace’s over-dependence on his inventions. 😐
Eventually, trouble is caused when Feathers McGraw manages to hijack Norbot and get him to turn evil against Wallace and Gromit. Not only that, but Norbot invents an army of blue robot gnomes to steal from people’s houses. Very soon, the blame is put on Wallace.
There’s no doubt that the animation by Aardman Animations is spectacular as ever. I saw this film twice on BBC iPlayer, both on Christmas Day and Boxing Day. It’s amazing how far these ‘Wallace & Gromit’ films have come about since they began with ‘A Grand Day Out’.
Wallace is voiced by Ben Whitehead, who has voiced the character in video games and commercials since 2008. I think Ben Whitehead is very good at voicing Wallace, matching to Peter Sallis who initially voiced Wallace, retired in 2010 and sadly passed away in 2017.
Gromit is a great silent dog character throughout this film as well as the other ‘Wallace & Gromit’ films. I love his reactions to how slow Wallace can be at picking up the pieces such as Feathers McGraw being behind it all along. I do like how he solves the mystery in this film.
There’s Chief Inspector Albert Mackintosh, a former police constable voiced by Peter Kay, who previously appeared in ‘The Curse of the Were Rabbit’. It was nice to see Mackintosh return in ‘Vengeance Most Fowl’ and for Peter Kay to voice him. He’s quite funny in this. 🙂
Norbot is voiced by Reece Shearsmith, who I’ve seen in ‘An Adventure In Space and Time’, the ‘Doctor Who’ episode ‘Sleep No More’ and two ‘P.R.O.B.E.’ films by BBV. Peter Kay has also been in ‘Doctor Who’ where he portrayed the Absorbaloff in ‘Love & Monsters’.
There’s a new character in this film called PC Mukherjee, voiced by Lauren Patel, who is Chief Inspector Mackintosh’s plucky young protégée. There’s also Onya Doorstep (Yes, seriously!), who’s voiced by Diane Morgan, a news reporter for the Up North News TV channel.
There’s another character called Anton Deck, named after the TV duo Ant and Dec, didn’t you know?
Apparently, Adjoa Andoh and Lenny Henry (both who’ve been in ‘Doctor Who’) have cameo roles and play the Judge and Mr. Convenience respectively in this film.
There’s also a brief cameo of the Farmer from the ‘Shaun the Sheep’ spin-off series. I’m amazed he appeared in the ‘Wallace & Gromit’ film, especially when he doesn’t say much. I’m saddened that Shaun the Sheep didn’t appear himself, as that would be great.
It was good to see the red motorcycle and sidecar from ‘A Close Shave’ making an appearance in the film and Gromit gets to drive the motorcycle for a change. The ‘Thunderbirds’-like launch sequences for Wallace are good, but they might be a bit overdone lately.
‘Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl’ has been great to check out on BBC iPlayer. I’m pleased I’ve seen it twice lately, as it’s very relaxing to sit through and it’s a nice addition to the ‘Wallace & Gromit’ film series. I’m really looking forward to revisiting the film again.
Thanks for reading!
Bye for now!
Tim 🙂

Hi Tim,
I enjoyed watching ‘Vengeance Most Fowl’ on BBC One on Christmas Day. I really enjoyed it and would put it in my top 3 favourite ‘Wallace and Gromit’ films, along with ‘The Wrong Trousers’ and ‘A Close Shave’. I look forward to when the film gets a Blu-Ray release.
I agree that Ben Whitehead captured Peter Sallis’ Wallace voice. This isn’t the first time Ben has voiced Wallace. The rest of the cast, as well as Gromit and Feathers were fun to watch as well.

Hi Xavier,
Very pleased you enjoyed ‘Vengeance Most Fowl’. Glad you got to see it on Christmas Day. I’m looking forward to revisiting the film along with ‘The Curse of the Were-Rabbit’ and the two ‘Chicken Run’ films, hopefully for my blog’s 10th anniversary. I also hope the film will get DVD and Blu-ray releases soon.
I’m pleased you agree with me that Ben Whitehead captured Wallace’s voice, originally done by the late Peter Sallis. It helps that he did other ‘Wallace & Gromit’ projects beforehand to guarantee him voicing Wallace in this movie. I’m pleased you enjoyed the rest of the cast, including Gromit and Feathers, who are great silent characters
Best wishes,
Tim 🙂
