‘Past Tense’ (DS9) is now!

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

Remember the ‘Star Trek: Deep Space Nine’ two-part story called ‘Past Tense’ where Captain Benjamin Sisko, Dr. Julian Bashir and Jadzia Dax travelled back in time to Earth’s past, with Sisko and Bashir ending up in a sanctuary district containing homeless people? That occurred in the year 2024!

This year! To be specific, the events of ‘Past Tense’ took place between the 30th of August to the 3rd of September 2024. And we’ve still got homelessness issues. 😐 It’s amazing to think we’re in the year where ‘Past Tense’ takes place. We’ve still yet to reach First Contact Day on the 4th of April 2063.

I don’t know if real-life matches exactly to how things were depicted in the two-part story made in 1995, but it’s fascinating to notice the parallels between fiction and real-life. This is especially as the writers Ira Steven Behr, Robert Hewitt Wolfe and René Echevarria based the story on real life events.

Please feel free to check out, read and comment on my review for ‘Past Tense’. Bear in mind, when I originally wrote my review on ‘Past Tense’, it was in 2020 and we were living during the Covid-19 pandemic. I’d like to think my thoughts back then match exactly to how things currently are now.

I don’t know if homelessness is an issue that can be resolved, even by the time we get to the 23rd of 24th century in ‘Star Trek’ terms, but I live in hope that we can improve on how things are with homeless people. I know friends of mine, charities and foodbanks are helping to achieve that cause.

Thanks for reading!

Bye for now!

Tim 🙂
