I saw this ‘Beast Wars’ episode via GMTV after seeing ‘Coming of the Fuzors – Part 2’ on Early Bank Holiday Monday in May 1999. It was a nice way to round off the double bill of ‘Beast Wars’ episodes being shown on that day, especially after Optimus Primal’s return.

Megatron summons his Predacons for special tasks. He sends Tarantulas, Blackarachnia and Quickstrike to build a refuelling station in a cavern full of Energon cubes. He sends Inferno and Waspinator to build a jamming station and disrupt Maximal communications.

The team building between Tarantulas, Blackarachnia and Quickstrike is interesting to see in this episode. Blackarachnia flirts with Quickstrike, Quickstrike is enamoured with her, and Tarantulas continues to mind-probe Blackarachnia’s mind when in control of her.

Blackarachnia manages to persuade Tarantulas to break the mind-link between them when she threatens to break an Energon cube. It’s interesting Energon doesn’t seem to affect the Maximals and Predacons so severely now with Energon surges as in Season 1. 😐

Tarantulas also gets to be devious, since he has his own plans to utilise the cavern as his new lair. The previous lair was destroyed by the aliens’ superweapon in ‘Other Voices’. He also tries to persuade Blackarachnia and Quickstrike to turn against the evil Megatron. 😐

Meanwhile, Rattrap and SIlverbolt are ordered to follow a Predacon signal on a Maximal frequency. It was interesting to see Rattrap and Silverbolt team up in this episode, and it was nice to see how Silverbolt gets to prove his potential in being a Maximal team player.

At one point, Rattrap and Silverbolt lose the signal, and they end up having to use their ‘noses’ to follow the scent of Tarantulas, Blackarachnia and Quickstrike. They manage to track them down at the cavern. Soon, a battle between Maximals and Predacons takes place.

The battle ends with the cavern being caved in. Tarantulas, Blackarachnia and Quickstrike return to the Predacons’ base to inform Megatron about what happened and he’s very angry. However, Tarantulas gets to use the cavern himself and make it his new lair.
