‘FALLEN COMRADES’

This was the second of two ‘Beast Wars’ episodes that I saw on Bank Holiday Monday in August 1998. The first one was ‘Power Surge’. This is a very gripping ‘Beast Wars’ episode, especially as it introduces a new Maximal character whom our heroes need to recover. 🙂

In the two-part series opener ‘Beast Wars’, stasis pods were launched and ended up in the mysterious planet’s orbit whilst the Maximals’ and the Predacons’ spaceships crash-landed. Now, one of the Maximal stasis pods ends up entering the planet’s atmosphere. 😮

The Maximals need to get to the stasis pod once it lands on the planet before the Predacons can get to it. It’s interesting how the stasis pod contains the spark-soul of a Transformer robot and the Maximals have no idea who it is before getting to the pod and rescuing it. 😐

Plus, it’s fascinating that the protoform robot can easily be changed into Predacon should the Predacons ever claim it themselves. Terrorsaur and Waspinator are sent on their mission to recover the stasis pod while Cheetor, Rhinox and Rattrap race against them. 😐

Optimus Primal had in mind to go after the stasis pod himself before he and Dinobot got ambushed by Terrorsaur and Waspinator, and Optimus ended up getting damaged. Dinobot looks after Optimus whilst he’s in the CR chamber as well as the Maximals’ base.

When Cheetor, Rhinox and Rattrap are delayed by Terrorsaur and Waspinator to get to the stasis pod, Dinobot and Optimus come up with a way to send a signal to the pod via laser pulse. Dinobot gets interrupted by Megatron, Scorponok and Tarantulas in the process. 😐

Fortunately, Dinobot has the Maximals’ base’s auto-weapons activated and Megatron, Scorponok and Tarantulas are scared off. Megatron makes his way to the Northern Mountains where the pod is, and he, Terrorsaur and Waspinator are about to make claim.

But they’re too late, as the Maximal is already out of the pod and we’re introduced to Tigatron (voiced by Blu Mankuma), who can transform from a tiger into a robot and vice versa. Tigatron’s robot design is very similar to Cheetor’s with him being a cat-like animal.
