‘AFTERMATH’

Here we are on Season 2 of ‘Beast Wars’! I saw the first two episodes of Season 2, including ‘Aftermath’ and ‘Coming of the Fuzors – Part 1’ on Easter Monday in April 1999. This was after the shocking cliffhanger ending in ‘Other Voices’ at the end of Season 1. 😮

Following on from the destruction of the aliens’ superweapon and the death of Optimus Primal, the Maximals mourn their loss whilst the Predacons prepare to attack their base. But a quantum surge hits the mysterious planet, which was caused by the explosion in space.

After the surge hits the planet, Tigatron and Airazor recover to find Rattrap and Cheetor having new Transmetal forms. I didn’t take the Transmetal versions of the ‘Beast Wars’ characters seriously at first when I saw the toys for them in Tesco and Toys ‘R’ Us as a kid.

But as soon as I saw this episode, I wanted to have the Transmetal versions of Rattrap, Cheetor and Tarantulas to play with. Granted, it’s not the same as playing with the original Season 1 ‘Beast Wars: Transformers’ toys, but I still enjoyed playing with them. 🙂

Like I said, Megatron gets a new Transmetal form as does Tarantulas, although we don’t get to see it in the next episode. Blackarachnia needs to get Tarantulas’ body out of the Maximals’ base whilst having Tarantulas inside her mind, following on from ‘Other Voices’.

I’m puzzled as to why Airazor and Tigatron didn’t get Transmetal bodies like Cheetor and Rattrap. Nor did Rhinox and Dinobot when they were being repaired in their RC chambers. Even Inferno didn’t get a Transmetal form when he and Tarantulas had been locked up. 😐

Waspinator didn’t get a Transmetal form, though he was protected when he fell inside a RC pool in the Predacons’ base. Terrorsaur and Scorponok don’t have the Transmetal luxury either, and this is the episode where they get killed after falling in lava during the quantum surge.

There’s an exciting battle scene between the Maximals and Predacons at the Maximals’ base. Cheetor, Rattrap and Megatron get to be in action in their Transmetal forms. They also have vehicular modes once they’re in beast mode, such as flying and being on wheels.
