6. The Dalek Christmas Invasion Begins
SCENE #57 – INT – KITCHEN, NO. 8 – DAY, MORNING
In the kitchen, Nyssa, Billy, Enid and Fred run from Billy’s toy Dalek, only to be met by another Dalek waiting for them. Nyssa, Billy, Enid and Fred gasp, shocked.
TOY DALEK (WALKER)
STAY WHERE YOU ARE! YOU CANNOT ESCAPE!
TOY DALEK #2
YOU ARE SURROUNDED!
ENID
(shocked) “How come there are two of them?! Where did this one come from?!”
NYSSA
“Enid, don’t you realise? It’s your toy Dalek!”
ENID
(baffled) “My what?”
FRED
“Our toy Dalek, Enid! Remember? We kept one as well.”
BILLY
(annoyed) “Oh really, Mum and Dad! Fancy you two buying a Dalek toy for yourselves as well!”
NYSSA
(calmly) “Keep absolutely still. Try not to do anything.”
The two uber-sized toy Daleks converge closer as they surround Nyssa, Billy, Enid and Fred.
TOY DALEK (WALKER)
“RESISTANCE WILL NOT BE TOLERATED!”
TOY DALEK #2
“YOU WILL ALL BE EXTERMINATED!”
ENID
(sarcastically) “Great plan, Nyssa! Do nothing and let them kill us, right?”
TOY DALEKS
(barks) “EXTERMINATE! EXTERMINATE!! EXTERMINATE…”
At that moment, the uber-sized toy Daleks each get blown up by an energy weapon. They scream with rage and agony as they die. Once the uber-sized toy Daleks have been destroye, Nyssa, Billy, Enid and Fred cough and splutter, startled by what just happened.
FRED
(startled) “What the…where did that come?”
Just then, the Doctor enters.
DOCTOR
(cheerily) “Ah! There you all are! Sorry for barging in. Just coming to the rescue like I usually do. Hope everybody’s alright.”
NYSSA
(relieved) “Doctor! Oh thank goodness you came! And in time, thank goodness!”
BILLY
(amazed) “You used the Dalek gun. The one my Dad gave you to blow up the toy Daleks!”
DOCTOR
“I applied the same method I used on the toy Dalek I examined in the TARDIS lab on your two uber-sized toy Daleks here. The one I examined in the TARDIS grew large in the same way these two presumably did. I smashed it to smithereens with the Dalek gun like I’ve just done now.”
ENID
“I don’t get this. Toy Daleks growing bigger?”
Just then, shouts and screams echo outside.
DOCTOR
“I’m afraid it’s getting worse, Enid. It’s affected everyone everywhere on this planet.”
BILLY
“What are you getting at, Doctor?”
DOCTOR
“Come, quickly! Outside! Be careful though! It’s quite chaotic out there!”
NYSSA
“Chaotic? Wait for us, Doctor!”
As Nyssa follows the Doctor, who carries his Dalek gun with him. Billy is about to follow, only to be held back by Enid.
ENID
“No, Billy! Don’t go out there!”
BILLY
“Mum, let go! I’ve got to go with Nyssa and the Doctor!”
ENID
“I’m not losing you again to be killed by those Daleks! We’ve just escaped death from two of them already!”
BILLY
“Mum, please! I have to help my friends! They need me!”
ENID
“They can take care of themselves!”
Just then, Fred intervenes.
FRED
“Let him go, Enid.”
ENID
(shocked) “Fred!”
FRED
“Let him go if he wants to.” (to Billy) “You go, Billy. Go with Nyssa and the Doctor.”
BILLY
“Thank you, Dad.” (Pause) “Wait here, you two. Don’t go out of the house. It’s safe in here.”
With that, Billy heads off to follow after Nyssa and the Doctor, leaving Enid and Fred inside.
ENID
“Safe?! You call this safe?! Nothing’s been safe ever since Billy met that Nyssa girl and that Doctor friend of his!”
SCENE #58 – EXT – CHURCHWOOD STREET, CARDIFF – DAY, MORNING
In Churchwood Street, the Doctor, Nyssa and Billy hide in a corner, as they watch the toy Daleks becoming uber-sized and attacking people, including children and parents.
TOY DALEKS
“EXTERMINATE! EXTERMINATE!! EXTERMINATE!!!”
The Daleks open fire, killing people off one by one with their death rays. The children scream once they see their parents being killed off, as they try to run away. Everyone panics. The Doctor, Nyssa and Billy are horrified by what they see.
BILLY
(horrified) “Horrible! This is just…I don’t believe this! And at Christmas time in my home!”
NYSSA
(horrified) “The houses are infested with them. Toy Daleks growing uber-sized and attacking.”
DOCTOR
I’ve only got enough power for my Dalek gun for five more Daleks. It won’t recharge in time to blow them all up.
NYSSA
The Daleks must have induced some sort of hypnotic suggestion into the minds of many people. To make them infatuated with the Daleks as toys before their houses become invaded. As a means of cunning and deception.
BILLY
But why now? Why do it on Christmas Day to commence the invasion?
DOCTOR
Billy, think about it! Christmas Day: everyone is happy and nice to each other. It’s a time of celebration and jubilation. It’s a perfect opportunity for the Daleks to invade the Earth when the human race is at its most vulnerable and off guard.
NYSSA
And at this time in Earth’s history, the military forces and the government will be low-key. Their military defences would be sluggish.
DOCTOR
And it’s happening to everything and everyone all over the world! Daleks infesting entire continents and nations on the planet Earth.
SCENE #59 – EXT – PLANET EARTH – DAY, MORNING (MONTAGE)
The Doctor is right. All over the world, the Daleks are attacking everywhere on the planet Earth. A montage of Daleks attacking people and exterminating them takes place. They blow up cities as well as towns and villages. Communities of people scatter and run everywhere. It’s a sequence of Dalek chaos (which lasts for about five minutes in this scene). The Daleks chant their war cries of…

(chants) “EXTERMINATE! EXTERMINATE! EXTERMINATE! EXTERMINATE! EXTERMINATE [EXTERMINATE…”]
SCENE #60 – EXT – CHURCHWOOD STREET, CARDIFF – DAY, MORNING
Back in Churchwood Street, the Doctor, Nyssa and Billy make a decision about what to do with the Dalek chaos going on.
NYSSA
“Doctor, we have to stop this happening before the entire population of Earth is exterminated!”
BILLY
“We’ve got to get back to the TARDIS!”
DOCTOR
“Precisely what I intend on us doing! Come on, you two! Off we go! The TARDIS is back down this way!”
With that, Nyssa and Billy follow the Doctor, as they carefully make their way back down the street, avoiding Daleks as they go. Eventually, they reach the TARDIS in the far corner of the street.
DOCTOR
(pleased) “Here she is!”
NYSSA
“I hope you’ve still got your key, Doctor.”
DOCTOR
“Do you think I’d ever lose my TARDIS key, Nyssa?”
NYSSA
“There’s always a first time. Come on, Doctor! Open up the TARDIS…”
BILLY
(shocked) “Oh no!”
DOCTOR
“What is it, Billy? What’s wrong?”
BILLY
“My mum and dad! They’re coming this way!”
This is true, as Enid and Fred arrive, having come out of No. 8, Churchwood Street to meet them at the TARDIS.
ENID
(cries) “Billy! Billy!”
FRED
“Wait for us, Billy!”
BILLY
“Mum; Dad, what are you doing?! I told you two to stay at home!”
FRED
“Your mum insisted on us coming out, Billy!”
ENID
“We were worried about you! We wanted to make sure you were okay!”
NYSSA
(reassuringly) “Billy’s safe with us, Enid.”
DOCTOR
(horrified) “Oh no! Daleks!”
At that moment, a squad of uber-sized toy Daleks turn up. They trundle down the street towards where the Doctor, Nyssa, Billy, Enid and Fred are at the TARDIS.
TOY DALEK LEADER
“HUMAN LIFESIGNS DETECTED! THEY MUST BE EXTERMINATED!”
TOY DALEKS
(chants) “EXTERMINATE! EXTERMINATE!! EXTERMINATE!!!”
ENID
“Oh no!”
FRED
(reassuringly) “It’s alright, Enid. Don’t worry, my dear.”
ENID
“But they’re going to kill us! Those Daleks are going to kill us, Fred!”
TOY DALEK LEADER
“DO NOT MAKE ANY SUDDEN MOVES!”
BILLY
(cries) “Mum; Dad! Get over here!”
NYSSA
“Billy, don’t!”
BILLY
(shouts) “Get over here now!”
Billy reaches out for his parents and pulls them towards him with Nyssa and the Doctor at the TARDIS. Billy’s parents cry startled once they’ve been pulled over.
ENID
(cries; in pain) “Oww! Easy Billy, dear!”
FRED
(annoyed) “You could have warned us, son!”
TOY DALEK LEADER
“YOU WILL BE KILLED NOW! EXTERMINATE!”
TOY DALEKS
(chants) “EXTERMINATE! EXTERMINATE!! [EXTERMINATE…”]
Just then, the squad of uber-sized toy Daleks gets blown up one by one, as the Doctor fires his Dalek gun at them. The uber-sized toy Daleks shriek and writhe in agony, as their casings blow up. The creatures inside the casings gradually die away.
DOCTOR
(triumphantly) “Bullseye on all of them!”
FRED
“You’ve got used to that Dalek gun, haven’t you, Doctor.”
DOCTOR
“Yes, I have. I don’t approving of killing, mind you, but…”
NYSSA
(interrupts) “Doctor, you’ve got to get the TARDIS door open! Now!”
DOCTOR
(realises) “Oh, yes! Sorry, Nyssa. Quite right.”
With that, the Doctor inserts his TARDIS key into the lock of the TARDIS door. He turns the lock and very soon, the TARDIS door opens for them.
DOCTOR
(cheerfully) “There we are! TARDIS door open!”
NYSSA
“Then let’s get in before any more Daleks come for us!”
DOCTOR
“Good idea, Nyssa! Everyone, get inside!”
With that, the Doctor bundles everyone, including Nyssa, Billy, Enid and Fred, into the TARDIS, just as another squad of uber-sized toy Daleks comes around the corner to advance.
TOY DALEKS
(barks) “HALT! HALT! DO NOT MOVE! DO NOT ESCAPE FROM US!”
The Doctor steps into the TARDIS after his friends, waving at the Daleks in the doorway.
DOCTOR
(cheerily) “Ta-ta, Daleks. Must fly!”
With that, the Doctor gets inside and shuts the TARDIS door behind him.
TOY DALEKS
(barks) FIRE! FIRE!! FIRE!!!
The Daleks open fire, but the TARDIS soon dematerialises and escapes, whooshing and groaning as she goes.
SCENE #61 – INT – CONTROL ROOM, BRIGGS & SHEARMAN’S TOY FACTORY – DAY, MORNING
Meanwhile, back in the Daleks’ control room of the Briggs and Shearman’s toy factory, the Red Dalek oversees the Dalek invasion of Earth taking place. It soon reports promptly to the Black Dalek.
BLACK DALEK
REPORT!
RED DALEK
ALL DALEK UNITS ARE MOBILISED AND EXTERMINATING ALL HUMANS IN DESIGNATED AREAS AROUND THE WORLD. THE UK, NORTH AMERICA, EUROPE, AUSTRALIA…
BLACK DALEK
(interjects) EXCELLENT!
The Black Dalek turns to the Gold Dalek Supreme and Mrs. Shearman.
BLACK DALEK
ALL IS PROCEEDING AS PLANNED, GOLD DALEK SUPREME! THE DALEK CHRISTMAS INVASION IS BECOMING A SUCCESS!
GOLD DALEK SUPREME
ALL DALEK TOY UNITS ARE ACTIVE?
BLACK DALEK
YES! EARTH IS BEING SUBJUGATED TO DALEK FORCES! ALL HUMANS WILL BE DESTROYED!
GOLD DALEK SUPREME
THEN WE CAN PROCEED WITH THE NEW AGE OF THE ALMIGHTY DALEK WITHIN EFFECT!
MRS. SHEARMAN
Excellent! I’m very pleased that all is going well, Gold Dalek Supreme.
GOLD DALEK SUPREME
“YOU SHALL BE WITNESS TO HOW EARTH FALLS TO ITS APOCALYPTIC END.”
MRS. SHEARMAN
“I’m looking forward to the fireworks, darling.”
At that moment, Harper and the workers for the Daleks enter and protest.
HARPER
(protests) “Mrs. Shearman! We demand to be released at once! We’ve been working for you rock-solid for twenty-four hours and we haven’t had a chance to have some fresh air! It’s Christmas Day! We all want to be free and with our families! My mother and child are waiting! So are Mr. Spaul, Mr. Baker and Mr. Rogers who want [to…”]
MRS. SHEARMAN
(interrupts) “My dear gentlemen, there’s no need to protest. There’s no need to be ungrateful either. You’ve done a terrific job, all of you.”
HARPER
(puzzled) “We have?”
MRS. SHEARMAN
“Of course! You’ve served the Daleks well by making more Dalek toys for the kids to have.”
HARPER
“So…does that mean you’re letting us go?”
MRS. SHEARMAN
“My dear Mr. Harper. All you fine gentlemen. Your work is done. You’re free to go.”
HARPER
(surprised; pleased) “Oh, well….thank you, Mrs. Shearman. Most appreciated.” (cheerily) “Come on, chaps. Let’s go home for Christmas.”
Harper and the workers are about to head off and leave before the Daleks advance forward.
BLACK DALEK
“STOP!”
The Daleks surround Harper and the workers who stop, confused and worried. The Daleks then raise their gunsticks.
DALEKS
“EXTERMINATE!!!”
The Daleks open fire, killing Harper and the workers in an instant. Harper and the workers scream in agony…
HARPER
(agonised; to Mrs. Sherman) “You…lying cow!”
…before they collapse to the floor. Mrs. Shearman looks down at Harper and the workers who are now deceased.
MRS. SHEARMAN
(mischeviously) “I said you could go. The Daleks didn’t say you could go.”
With that, Mrs. Shearman turns to the Daleks, who are now in conference with each other.
RED DALEK
“REPORT FROM DALEK MOONBASE.”
BLACK DALEK
“SPEAK!”
RED DALEK
“THE ALMIGHTY DALEK IS READY FOR LAUNCH. POWER LEVELS HAVE RISEN TO MAXIMUM EFFICENCY. THE ENGINES ARE FULLY POWERED.”
GOLD DALEK SUPREME
“WE SHALL GO NOW! PREPARE TO TRANSMAT TO MOONBASE TO WITNESS THE AWAKENING OF THE ALMIGHTY DALEK!”
MRS. SHEARMAN
“I would like to come with you, Daleks, to see this for myself if it’s all the same to you.”
GOLD DALEK SUPREME
“YOU SHALL COME WITH US. YOU SHALL COME TO BEAR WITNESS TO THE BIRTH OF THE ALMIGHTY DALEK AND ITS GLORY!”
MRS. SHEARMAN
“Thank you, Gold Dalek Supreme. You don’t know how much that means to me.”
GOLD DALEK SUPREME
“ALL BOARD FOR THE TRANSMAT PAD TO THE MOON IMMEDIATELY!”
With that, the Daleks, including the Gold Dalek Supreme, the Black Dalek and the Red Dalek, as well as the Mrs. Shearman board the transmat pad to the get ready to beam up to Earth’s moon where the Dalek moonbase is. The Red Daleks initiates the transfer sequence from Earth to the moon via a control panel.
RED DALEK
“TRANSMAT INITIATED! READY FOR TRANSFER!”
GOLD DALEK SUPREME
TRANSFER NOW!
In an instant, the Daleks and Mrs. Shearman teleport via the transmat to Earth’s moon.
SCENE #62 – INT – TARDIS, CONSOLE ROOM – N/A
Aboard the TARDIS, the Doctor, Nyssa, Billy, Enid and Fred watch the TARDIS scanner screen in the console room. They see the Dalek Christmas invasion of Earth taking place.
ENID
(shocked) It’s terrible! All those people. Families with their children and grandchildren getting slaughtered by the Dalek toys becoming giants.
FRED
(saddened) They’re attacking all over. The USA, France, Germany… It’s all happening. And those Daleks flying in from space are about to enter the planet’s atmosphere.
ENID
Lucky the Daleks can’t see us.
DOCTOR
I’ve placed a protective barrier around the TARDIS to make us invisible. It won’t hold forever, but we should be able to keep out of sight from the Daleks.
FRED
“It’s a scene of devastation!” (Pause) “And this is what you do, Billy. With Nyssa and the Doctor. Travelling the stars to see all this happening. To Earth and many other worlds like it.”
ENID
“How can you consider marriage when scenes of death like this happen in the universe?”
BILLY
It’s not always like this, Mum; Dad. We stop it from ever happening. The Doctor, Nyssa and I. We go out there and stop terrble things happening in the universe.
NYSSA
And we’re certainly going to stop this from happening. The Daleks will be defeated. They won’t destroy Christmas. Isn’t that right, Doctor?
DOCTOR
Yes. But first, we need to assess how far they’ve gone with this invasion of theirs. It’s pretty worrying at the moment.
BILLY
Surely, it can’t be as worse as this. It’s just the Daleks as toys invading the Earth.
NYSSA
You’re forgetting about the Almighty Dalek, Billy. There’s that to consider.
DOCTOR
And it originates from the Daleks’ moonbase!
NYSSA
And there’s also the Mechanoids to deal with.
DOCTOR
Let’s take a look and see what’s happening on the moon, shall we?
With that, the Doctor presses a switch and the scanner screen changes from the Daleks’ invasion Earth to focus on Earth’s moon instead. The Doctor, Nyssa, Billy, Enid and Fred take a moment to see what’s happening.
BILLY
Seems quiet enough. Not much happening at the moment.
DOCTOR
Don’t be decieved, Billy. The Daleks won’t sit idly by. They’re probably on the moon about to start whatever this Almighty Dalek thing is.
NYSSA
(realises) Wait, Doctor! Look! See the Dalek fleet? It’s advancing from their moonbase.
DOCTOR
“Yes, so it is.”
FRED
(worried) “What does that mean? Why are they suddenly doing that then?”
ENID
“More Daleks about to invade the Earth, Fred. And full-sized ones at that in their flying saucers.”
DOCTOR
“Exactly, Enid! Or more accurately, the Daleks are ready to take the lead once the Almighty Dalek rises up from the moon or something.”
ENID
“And I thought it couldn’t get any worse.”
NYSSA
“But what is this Almighty Dalek, Doctor? We’re still not clear on knowing what it is.”
DOCTOR
“I know, Nyssa. And it’s so frustrating!”
BILLY
“Why don’t we take the TARDIS to the moon and find out?”
DOCTOR
(startled) “Take the TARDIS to the moon, Billy?”
BILLY
“Yeah, why not? It’s better than sitting up here and not doing anything whilst the Earth’s being invaded.”
NYSSA
“There’s bound to be security systems fitted in all around the secure areas of the Daleks’ moonbase, Billy. Alarm systems, remember?”
DOCTOR
“Exactly! We won’t be able to find out much once we’re caught.”
BILLY
“Well, you can think of something to bypass the security alarms, can’t you, Doctor? You can do wonders with your TARDIS, right?”
DOCTOR
(ruefully) “Thank you for your confidence in me, Billy. It’s much appreciated.”
ENID
“Well, why don’t you make the TARDIS look like something else instead of a police box? A Dalek monument or something.”
FRED
“Enid, I don’t think this is helping.”
DOCTOR
“Nice suggestion, Enid. Normally, the TARDIS does have the ability to blend in with her surroundings and to adapt her shape.”
ENID
“Normally?”
DOCTOR
“Unfortunately, the TARDIS chameleon circuit is broken and the old girl is stuck as a police box. I’ve tried to fix the chameleon circuit, but where did that get me? Logopolis, the Master and death by falling from a radio telescope.”
FRED
“So, you can’t change what the TARDIS looks like then.”
DOCTOR
“No. Besides, the Daleks would detect the TARDIS instantly even if I did change the ship into something else to blend in with her surroundings.”
NYSSA
(realises) “But you could change the frequency of the TARDIS emission systems. Adapt it to more Dalek conditions.”
BILLY
(puzzled) “Sorry Nyssa, I lost you on that one.”
NYSSA
“The Doctor can alter the frequency of the TARDIS’ engine modulation and apply it to more Dalek standards. Shielding the TARDIS from the Daleks’ detection systems in an instant. It’ll be temporary, but it should give us enough time to look around their moonbase. To find out more about what’s going on and what they’re up to.”
DOCTOR
(realises) “Of course! Yes, of course! Nyssa, you’re a genius!”
NYSSA
(pleased) “Thank you, Doctor. I’m glad you approve!”
DOCTOR
Absolutely! And I’m very grateful, Nyssa! You can help me with adjusting the TARDIS frequency and engine modulation to the Daleks’ standards right away.
NYSSA
Of course.
DOCTOR
Good! Right! Well, let’s get started.
NYSSA
But haven’t you forgotten something, Doctor? The Dalek invasion of Earth is still happening. We can’t just leave the planet like that.
BILLY
Yes. People are still being killed off one by one. There won’t be many left by the time we get back to Earth. The population will have decreased significantly.
DOCTOR
I know, Nyssa; I know, Billy. But I suspect the Almighty Dalek thing is far worse than we can possibly imagne. Come on, Nyssa! Let’s adjust the TARDIS’ frequency and engine modulation as quickly as possible, shall we?
NYSSA
(eagerly) “Yes, of course, Doctor.”
With that, Nyssa and the Doctor get started. Whilst that’s going on, Billy joins his parents.
ENID
“What is it they’re on about, Billy? TARDIS frequency and engine modulation?”
BILLY
“I’ve no idea, Mum. They talk just as fast before I can even understand them. It’s all too sciency for me.”
FRED
“I’m amazed how you’ve managed to put up with them like that, my son.”
BILLY
“Oh it’s rather fun watching what the Doctor and Nyssa do with their science stuff. Sometimes I do feel left out, but it’s all made up for in the end. And it’s very rewarding.”
Eventually, the Doctor and Nyssa finish their work.
DOCTOR
“Done it?”
NYSSA
“Done it, Doctor!”
DOCTOR
“Splendid! In that case, it’s time to see the Almighty Dalek for ourselves. Off to Earth’s moon and the Dalek moonbase, we go! Hold tight, everyone!”
At that, the Doctor sets the TARDIS controls. Soon, the TARDIS propels forward. Everyone slumps onto the TARDIS console, holding on for dear life, as they set off for Earth’s moon.
SCENE #63 – INT – CONTROL ROOM, ALMIGHTY DALEK – N/A
Meanwhile, with Mrs. Shearman and the Daleks, they end up on Earth’s moon and enter the control room of the Almighty Dalek on the Daleks’ moonbase.
RED DALEK
“THE CONTROL ROOM IS READY! WE ARE WAITING FOR THE PILOT TO TAKE THE SEAT!”
GOLD DALEK SUPREME
“EXCELLENT!”
MRS. SHEARMAN
(amazed) “Oh, this is magnificent! You have everything here! Power at your fingertips! Or sucker sticks.”
GOLD DALEK SUPREME
“YOU APPROVE?”
MRS. SHEARMAN
I certainly do. I admire the control chair! (realises) No! It’s an empty Dalek casing that’s meant to be a control chair. And the technology you have. The peoples of the Earth will flock to the Almighty Dalek’s power once you have control of it! (Pause) But why have an empty Dalek casing as the control mechanism for the ship?
GOLD DALEK SUPREME
THE ALMIGHTY DALEK IS STILL INCOMPLETE. IT REQUIRES ONE MORE COMPONENT TO COMPLETE ITS ASCENSION.
BLACK DALEK
THE ALMIGHTY DALEK REQUIRES A HUMAN SUBJECT TO CONTROL IT. A HUMAN SUBJECT WILLING TO SERVE THE DALEK CAUSE. WILLING TO OBEY OUR ORDERS.
GOLD DALEK SUPREME
THAT IS WHY WE HAVE PERMITTED YOU TO JOIN US AS OUR ALLY, MRS. SHEARMAN.
MRS. SHEARMAN
Really? To see the human subject taking control of the magnificent ship. Who will it be, I wonder.
A moment of silence ensues.
MRS. SHEARMAN
Why are you looking at me like that?
Another moment of silence ensues.
MRS. SHEARMAN
(nervously) “Stop looking at me like that, Gold Dalek Supreme. You’re making me nervous.”
GOLD DALEK SUPREME
“HAVE YOU NOT REALISED?”
MRS. SHEARMAN
(puzzled) “Realised what?”
GOLD DALEK SUPREME
(gradually) “YOU ARE THE CHOSEN ONE! YOU ARE TO BE OUR HUMAN SUBJECT! TO CONTROL OUR DALEK TECHNOLOGY! YOU…ARE TO BE…THE ALMIGHTY DALEK!”
Another moment of silence ensues.
MRS. SHEARMAN

MRS. SHEARMAN
“Yes, I did, but…”

(interupts; chants) “ALL PRAISE TO THE ALMIGHTY DALEK!!!”

(chants) “ALL PRAISE TO THE ALMIGHTY DALEK!!!”
GOLD DALEK SUPREME
“YOU SHALL BE HONOURED IN OUR NEW AGE! THIS SHALL BE YOUR GREATEST HONOUR AMONG THE DALEKS!”
MRS. SHEARMAN
(protests) “You can’t seriously expect me to pilot your Dalek ship! I don’t even know how to pilot a ship! Let alone fly a plane!”
GOLD DALEK SUPREME
“THAT IS OF NO CONSEQUENCE. YOU SHALL BECOME A DALEK!” (chants) “ALL PRAISE TO THE ALMIGHTY DALEK!!!”
DALEKS
(chants) “ALL PRAISE TO THE ALMIGHTY DALEK!!!”
MRS. SHEARMAN
(angrily) Stop it! Just stop it! How can you possibly turn me into a Dalek when I’m nothing like you? We’re not the same species!
GOLD DALEK SUPREME
DALEK TECHNOLOGY IS SUPERIOR THAN HUMAN TECHNOLOGY! WE WILL FIND A WAY! (to Daleks) TAKE HER! PLACE HER INTO THE CONTROL MODULE!
DALEKS
WE OBEY!
With that, the Daleks advance forward, pushing Mrs. Sherman with their sucker sticks. They push to the empty Dalek casing that’s the control mechanism for the Almighty Dalek.
MRS. SHEARMAN
(angrily; protests) Get off me! Get off me, you treacherous little tin pots! Get your lavatory plungers off me!
The Daleks ignore her, as they have Mrs. Shearman situated in the empty Dalek casing.
BLACK DALEK
SIT DOWN!
MRS. SHEARMAN
(angrily) I will not sit down!
But Mrs. Shearman gets forced to sit down into the empty Dalek casing by the Daleks.
BLACK DALEK
“YOU ARE SEATED!”
MRS. SHEARMAN
(angrily; protests) “Stop it! Stop this! You must be having me on! You must be joking!”
GOLD DALEK SUPREME
“DALEK HAVE NO CONCEPT OF COMEDY. WE ARE TRIUMPHANT!”
MRS. SHEARMAN
“What?! By having a human woman…a very aging human woman, I might add…to pilot this Dalek ship of yours?! I refuse to do this for you!”
GOLD DALEK SUPREME
“YOU CANNOT RESIST US! SOON, YOU SHALL BECOME A DALEK!”
At that moment, injection needles portrude from inside the empty Dalek casing. They whir around and around, as they portrude closer to where Mrs. Shearman is seated.
MRS. SHEARMAN
(terrified) “What’s happening? What are these needles coming out of this Dalek casing I’m in?!”
BLACK DALEK
“THERE IS NOTHING TO FEAR. YOU ARE TO BE INJECTED WITH DALEK DNA.”
MRS. SHEARMAN
(shocked) “What?!”
RED DALEK
“YOU WILL MUTATE AND BECOME A NEW FORM OF DALEK! A DALEK-HUMAN HYBRID!”
BLACK DALEK
“YOU WILL BE GRANTED THE KNOWLEDGE OF ALL DALEK EXPERIENCE AND IDEOLOGY IN ORDER TO PILOT OUR MAGNIFICENT SALVATION!”
GOLD DALEK SUPREME
“THE DALEKS SHALL TRIUMPH OVER HUMANITY! YOU SHALL LEAD US! YOU WILL LEAD US, MRS. SHEARMAN, IN THE BIRTH OF OUR NEW DALEK EMPIRE!”
MRS. SHEARMAN
(cries; pleads) “No! Stop this! Have pity on me!!!”
GOLD DALEK SUPREME
(confused; taunts) “PITY? WHAT IS PITY?”
At that, Mrs. Shearman screams. She’s instantly injected by the needles, with the Dalek fluids flowing inside her. She shakes and shudders whilst this is happening inside the Dalek casing.
BLACK DALEK
“INJECTION TAKING PLACE!”
RED DALEK
“THE SHEARMAN UNIT IS SUCCUMBING TO DALEK CONDITIONING.”
GOLD DALEK SUPREME
“THE PROCESS WILL BE SWIFT! SHE IS ALREADY BECOMING ONE OF US! HER SKIN IS CHANGING!”
Mrs. Shearman shakes and shudders some more, as her human body mutates and her skin changes. She soon faints once the process is complete. After a short while, Mrs. Shearman slowly regains consciousness and wakes up. As she wakes, she groans before speaking with a Dalek-fied voice.
MRS. SHEARMAN
(groans) “Hmm…hmm…w-what…” (Pause) “I am…I am…” (with Dalek-voice) “I…am…alive!!!!!”
GOLD DALEK SUPREME
“THE ALMIGHTY DALEK IS BORN!”
DALEKS
(chants) “ALL PRAISE TO THE ALMIGHTY DALEK!!!”
The Daleks praise and worship Mrs. Shearman, who is now fully integrated and has become the Almighty Dalek – a mutated Dalek-human hybrid creature.
SCENE #64 – INT – ENGINE ROOM, ALMIGHTY DALEK – N/A
Meanwhile, the TARDIS arrives inside the Almighty Dalek on the Earth’s moon. The Doctor, Nyssa, Billy, Enid and Fred step out to find themselves in an engine room. They take in their surroundings.
NYSSA
(astonished) “Doctor! We’re in an auxiliary power supply maintenance chamber.” (realises) “This is a radio-static kinetic micro-bonder, connecting and measuring all readouts of power outlay and suspension molecules.”
DOCTOR
“Yes. We’ve arrived in the heart of the Almighty Dalek’s power hub.”
BILLY
(shocked) “What?! We’re inside the Almighty Dalek itself!”
DOCTOR
“Fair dos, Billy. The adjustment of the modulation frequency of the TARDIS engines seems to have worked. Also, it’s provided us clarity on where to find the so-called Almighty Dalek on Earth’s moon. And it was shaped like a huge Dalek. A good thing the TARDIS’ directional beam landed us in the spot where we wanted to be.”
NYSSA
“So the Almighty Dalek is actually a spaceship. A huge spaceship for the Daleks shaped in a Dalek itself.”
BILLY
I’m amazed you were able to deduce that, Doctor.
DOCTOR
Well, the Daleks are power-crazed and they prefer to build things in their own image. So, they’ve built the biggest warship to attack Earth in their own image! Horribly I might add.
ENID
So, what do you plan to do, Doctor? Pull out the plugs of this engine room and switch the Almighty Dalek off?
FRED
Enid, that’s ridiculous! Besides, the Doctor would need a lot of time to pull out the plugs.
DOCTOR
And time is something we don’t have. (muses momentarilly) Let’s check out the computer readouts at this terminal over here, shall we?
NYSSA
Yes. They may give us an indication of how the ship functions.
BILLY
“And we’ll have a chance to get back at the Daleks. To stop them from taking off in this ship.”
NYSSA
“It’s certainly worth investigating.”
The Doctor, Nyssa, Billy, Enid and Fred approach the nearby computer terminal where the readouts are. The Doctor scrolls through the readouts using the computer terminal. Both he and Nyssa examine the readouts for a few minutes. Eventually…
DOCTOR
(gradually; shocked) “Oh no!” (Pause) “Oh dear.” (Pause) “That’s not good.”
FRED
(concerned) “What is it? What’s wrong?”
NYSSA
(gradually) “The readouts. They contain information about the main engine’s power units. The readouts state that the Dalek ship is fully powered.”
BILLY
(despairs) “Oh no! There goes our chance to stop them.”
DOCTOR
“And the worst of it is that all power levels can’t be reversed. Nothing to suggest a glitch in the technology…”
Just then, the computer readouts change suddenly.
DOCTOR
(surprised) “Oh! Hang on! This is weird.”
The Doctor taps away at the computer terminal for a bit whilst the computer readouts are changing at a frequent rate.
ENID
“Come on, Doctor! Don’t keep us in suspense! What’s the matter?”
DOCTOR
(confused) “I don’t know. The power levels are…fluctuating.”
NYSSA
“Fluctuating? I thought you said there wasn’t a glitch in the technology.”
DOCTOR
“That’s what I initially thought. The software seems to be rewriting itself.”
BILLY
“Rewriting itself? Is that the Daleks’ doing?”
DOCTOR
“More specifically, it’s a recent Dalek subject in control of the Almighty Dalek, according to these readouts.” (gradually; realises) “And it has partial human DNA in the mix.”
NYSSA
“Human DNA? A human that’s become a Dalek? And he or she is controlling the Dalek technology?”
BILLY
“So, a Dalek-human is in control of a Dalek ship and is rewriting the software, causing the power levels to fluctuate, as shown on this computer screen.”
ENID
“How can a human become a Dalek?”
FRED
“More importantly, who is the human that’s become a Dalek?”
DOCTOR
“It would have to be someone who’s worked with the Daleks quite closely and recently.”
NYSSA
(realises) “Mrs. Shearman!”
DOCTOR
“Yes. Precisely.”
SCENE #65 – INT – CONTROL ROOM, ALMIGHTY DALEK – N/A
Back in the control room of the Almighty Dalek, Mrs. Shearman recovers, fully integrated into her Dalek casing.
MRS. SHEARMAN
“W-W-What…” (with Dalek voice) “So…so much knowledge. So much power. I know everything there is to know about the Daleks. Fancy that. A human woman knowing everything about the Daleks.”
GOLD DALEK SUPREME
“HOW DO YOU FEEL, MRS. SHEARMAN?”
MRS. SHEARMAN
(with Dalek voice) “I feel…one hundred per cent.”
GOLD DALEK SUPREME
“EXCELLENT! THAT IS THE CORRECT DALEK RESPONSE. YOU ARE FULLY INTEGRATED INTO YOUR DALEK CASING! YOU ARE IN CONTROL OF THE ALMIGHTY DALEK!”
MRS. SHEARMAN
(with Dalek voice) Yes! I understand!
GOLD DALEK SUPREME
EXCELLENT!
MRS. SHEARMAN
(with Dalek voice) I can…feel…so many ideas. So many thoughts. So many things to long for. I can see the light and the darkness. I can see all of space and time. I see planets far beyond than anywhere I have ever seen. I have…control over everything this ship has to offer. Oh! This is marvellous! This is such a breakthrough. I am so…so happy!!!
RED DALEK
HAPPY? WHAT IS HAPPY? I DO NOT UNDERSTAND THE WORD!
BLACK DALEK
HAPPINESS IS NOT REGISTERED IN THE DALEK VOCABULARY.
MRS. SHEARMAN
(with Dalek voice) Exactly! You Daleks lack so much love for the things you do.
GOLD DALEK SUPREME
“LOVE IS NOT A DALEK WORD. IT HAS NO MEANING. IT IS IRRELEVANT. INSIGNIFICANT!”
MRS. SHEARMAN
(with Dalek voice) “Don’t you see? By giving me the power of your Dalek ship, you have incorporated the human factor into your Dalek factor! Yes!!! I am better than any Dalek who has ever lived. Better than you, Gold Dalek Supreme!!! How does that sound?!!!”
RED DALEK
“ALERT! ALERT! MALFUNCTION IN DALEK TECHNOLOGY DETECTED!!!”
BLACK DALEK
“ALMIGHTY DALEK COMPROMISED!!! WE HAVE ACTED UNWISELY TO INCORPORATE THIS HUMAN BEING INTO THE MACHINE!”
GOLD DALEK SUPREME
“THE FUNCTION OF A DALEK IS TO KILL! NOT LOVE!!!”
MRS. SHEARMAN
(with Dalek voice) “Why?! Why must a Dalek not love?”
GOLD DALEK SUPREME
“SILENCE! DO NOT DEFY THE DALEKS!!!”
MRS. SHEARMAN
(with Dalek voice) I am the Almighty Dalek! You made me! The ideology and the technology you put into my head can be questioned! I can turn it around and twist it to any form I choose. I shall build my own commandments for the Dalek race forever!
GOLD DALEK SUPREME
(panics) WHAT DO YOU MEAN? EXPLAIN!
MRS. SHEARMAN
(with Dalek voice) The Dalek Empire shall be ruled by me! There will be new Daleks in it! My Daleks! Filled with love and ambition; passion and strength! The Daleks shall conquer the galaxy with a new order! With human blood running through its veins! The Daleks will be unstoppable! And they’ll be better Daleks than you Daleks have ever been!
GOLD DALEK SUPREME
YOU ARE A DEFECT! AN INPURITY IN THE DALEK RACE! YOU WILL BE REMOVED FROM THE ALMIGHTY DALEK CONTROL UNIT!
MRS. SHEARMAN
(with Dalek voice) Oh I don’t think so, Gold Dalek Supreme. Kaboom, sonny boy! Adiós!
As the Gold Dalek Supreme advances, Mr. Shearman fires at it, using the gunstick in her Dalek casing. The Gold Dalek Supreme shakes and shudders once fired upon. It screams enraged, before it soon blows up. A moment of silence ensues once Mrs. Shearman has killed the Gold Dalek Supreme.
RED DALEK
(shocked) “THE GOLD DALEK SUPREME! SHE HAS KILLED THE GOLD DALEK SUPREME!”
MRS. SHEARMAN
(with Dalek voice) Yes. One mustn’t mess with me. Especially a Dalek.
BLACK DALEK
(protests) HE WAS OUR LEADER AND COMMANDER!
MRS. SHEARMAN
(with Dalek voice) Yes! Now I’m your new Dalek commander! The Almighty Dalek! You can join your former leader unless you obey me. Refuse…then zap!!!
A moment of tension.
BLACK DALEK
(gradually) WE WILL…FOLLOW YOU.
RED DALEK
(reluctantly) YES. WE WILL FOLLOW YOU.
MRS. SHEARMAN
(with Dalek voice) Excellent! I am the Almighty Dalek! The new ruler of the new Dalek Empire! And you will obey me!
DALEKS
“WE OBEY!”
MRS. SHEARMAN
(with Dalek voice) All praise to the Almighty Dalek!
DALEKS
(chants) ALL PRAISE TO THE ALMIGHTY DALEK!!!
MRS. SHEARMAN
(with Dalek voice) Summon all Dalek units to the ship! We must take off instantly! Come to me, my Daleks! Come to me at my command! Obey me! Obey! Obey! OBEY!!!
DALEK
WE OBEY!
MRS. SHEARMAN
(with Dalek voice) Come, my Daleks! Come to me!
SCENE #66 – INT – ENGINE ROOM, ALMIGHTY DALEK – N/A
Back in the Almighty Dalek’s engine room, the Doctor, Nyssa, Billy, Enid and Fred hear a Dalek tannoy announcement echoing all over the ship.
BLACK DALEK (V’O)
“All Dalek units are to board the Almighty Dalek ship! All Dalek units are to board the Almighty Dalek ship! All Dalek units are to board [the Almighty Dalek ship…”]
NYSSA
(anxiously) “Doctor, that Dalek tannoy announcement must mean that the Daleks are about to take off in this ship.”
DOCTOR
(grimly) “Yes! And we’re aboard it.” (Pause) “Quickly, everyone! Back into the TARDIS!”
With that, the Doctor, Nyssa, Billy, Enid and Fred make their way back into the TARDIS. Everything shakes and shudders violently around them as they make their way back.
SCENE #67 – INT – CONTROL ROOM, ALMIGHTY DALEK – N/A
In the control room, Mrs. Shearman sees the Daleks coming aboard her ship. The Black Dalek addresses her.
BLACK DALEK
“ALL DALEK UNITS HAVE BOARDED THE ALMIGHTY DALEK!”
MRS. SHEARMAN
(with Dalek voice) Excellent! Then we can take off!
BLACK DALEK
AFFIRMATIVE!
MRS. SHEARMAN
(with Dalek voice) Start the countdown immediately!
RED DALEK
(counts) COUNTDOWN TO TWENTY RELS. NINETEEN….EIGHTEEN….SEVENTEEN….SIXTEEN…[FIFTEEN…FOURTEEN…THIRTEEN…TWELVE…ELEVEN…]
MRS. SHEARMAN
(with Dalek voice) This is a glorious moment! The Daleks shall be victorious! I shall lead them to a new age! The age of the Almighty Dalek!
RED DALEK
(continues; counts) …TEN…NINE…EIGHT…SEVEN…SIX…FIVE…FOUR…THREE…TWO…ONE…
MRS. SHEARMAN
(with Dalek voice) “Almighty Dalek…rising!!!”
With that, the engines roar and the turbines pound, as the Almighty Dalek ship lifts off into space.
SCENE #68 – EXT – MOON SURFACE, EARTH’S MOON – N/A
On the Earth moon’s surface close to the Daleks’ moonbase, the TARDIS materialises, whooshing and groaning before it makes a loud thump to land. Soon, the Doctor, Nyssa, Billy, Enid and Fred step out to see the Almighty Dalek ship taking off from the Daleks’ moonbase.
ENID
(worried) “Are we safe to walk out here? I mean…this is the moon we’re walking on!”
NYSSA
(reassuringly) “There’s an atmospheric shell around the TARDIS that’s protecting us from the vacuum of space as we walk on the moon, Enid. It should be alright.”
BILLY
(astonished; cries) “Nyssa; everyone! Look up! There it is! It’s…”
FRED
(interjects) “It’s huge!”
DOCTOR
“Yes, it is, Fred! That’s definitely the Almighty Dalek we’re looking at!”
The TARDIS fivesome watch as the Almighty Dalek ship continues to makes it way far from the Daleks’ moonbase.
NYSSA
“And Mrs. Shearman is piloting the gigantic Dalek ship all the way to Earth.”
BILLY
“About to invade the Earth and attack Cardiff City!”
ENID
“It’s a giant Dalek! A ship in the shape of a Dalek!”
FRED
“Earth doesn’t stand a chance! What can one do against a menace like that?!”
DOCTOR
“All the Daleks must be aboard! With Mrs. Shearman leading them!”
BILLY
“How can she pilot that huge thing anyway? She’s not a Dalek.”
NYSSA
“They must have turned her into one. Cellular mutation?”
DOCTOR
“Of course! They must have plugged her into the system. Transferring Dalek DNA into her and giving her knowledge about the ship itself.”
BILLY
“To become the Almighty Dalek. Is that possible?”
DOCTOR
“Conditioning people to think they’re Daleks by brainwashing them? Yes, that’s possible, even for the Daleks. Except the Daleks have gone one step further.”
NYSSA
“So she’ll use the Dalek knowledge given to her to destroy the Earth. Hating all humanity and providing a world for Daleks to live in.”
ENID
“But she can’t do that! They can’t have our world! We live on Earth! Us humans!”
BILLY
“The Daleks won’t see that, Mum. They consider themselves superior to us humans. They’ll stop at nothing to kill us.”
DOCTOR
“So, we have to see to it that the Daleks fail in wiping out the human race. Along with this Almighty Dalek of theirs and their toy Daleks growing to full size.”
NYSSA
“A pretty tall order, Doctor.”
DOCTOR
“In a manner of speaking, yes.”
FRED
“So what do we do?”
DOCTOR
“Do? What we always do! Me, Nyssa and Billy that is. We use what resources we have and counteract the Daleks!”
ENID
“What resources do you have then, Doctor?”
DOCTOR
(thinks; gradually; realises) “The Mechanoids! We can utilise them! They’re free from the Daleks’ control! They should still be here on the moon!”
NYSSA
“Will they be willing to help us?”
DOCTOR
“They’re robots, Nyssa. Originally built to serve humanity. And I’ve seen them in a good fight with the Daleks. They should have all the firepower necessary to take them out.”
BILLY
“Is that what we’re doing then? Freeing the Mechanoids from the moon so that they can fight the Daleks on Earth?”
DOCTOR
“No, Billy. Nyssa and I will sort out them out. You and your parents have a different job to do.”
BILLY
“Job? What job’s that?”
DOCTOR
“Shutting down the generator that supplies power to the Almighty Dalek. With luck, that should attract the Almighty Dalek’s attention. Bring it with Mrs. Shearman and the Daleks aboard back to the moon for us to deal with them.”
FRED
“And how will you deal with them once you’ve lured them back here?”
DOCTOR
“I don’t know that part yet, Fred. But I’m working on it. I have an idea in mind.” (to Billy) “Can you do all that, Billy? Can you and your parents shut down the generator for me?”
BILLY
“Of course.” (to Enid; Fred) “Mum; Dad, are you coming with me?”
FRED
“Of course, my son.”
ENID
“Anything to help you, dear.”
NYSSA
“Do be careful, Billy. You and your parents.”
BILLY
“Don’t worry, we’ll be careful. You and the Doctor watch yourselves, Nyssa.”
NYSSA
“We will. I love you, dear.”
BILLY
“I love you too, Nyssa.”
Nyssa and Billy kiss each other. Eventually...
DOCTOR
Right! Now that we all have our respective tasks, back into the TARDIS, shall we?
