SEAN
(gleefully) Now! Whilst nobody’s watching.

Sean takes out a little gadget of his and presses a switch on it. It emits a low hum. Sean giggles gleefully whilst the whirring occurs.

SEAN
(gleefully) Should be any minute now!

SCENE #90 – EXT – CHURCHWOOD STREET, CARDIFF – DAY, MORNING
Back on the street…

NYSSA
We’re being surrounded by these bullies.

BILLY
(anxiously) Doctor! My mum and dad are standing outside my house! They’re not safe!

DOCTOR
(wryly) They look so happy, these boys!

NYSSA
(realises) Doctor! Someone’s materialising right before us!

Within seconds, a Dwaxi trooper materialises before the Doctor, Nyssa and Billy. The Dwaxi trooper carries a powerful weapon and charges it up with tremendous power.

NYSSA
(gasps, horrified) Oh no! Please, it can’t be!

BILLY
(horrified) Doctor! That isn’t…

DOCTOR
Yes, Nyssa; Billy. I’m afraid it is. It’s a Dwaxi trooper.

The Dwaxi trooper trains his weapon on the Doctor, Nyssa and Billy and lets out a horrendous, mocking laugh at them.

DWAXI TROOPER #1
(mockingly) “You three will die abysmally! Rot likes dogs! Scream like children!”

The Dwaxi trooper keeps on laughing before firing his weapon furiously and viciously at the Doctor, Nyssa and Billy, screaming terribly.

SCENE #90B – EXT – CHURCHWOOD STREET, CARDIFF – DAY, MORNING
Surprisingly however, the Doctor, Nyssa and Billy don’t get shot. The Dwaxi trooper has fired on some of the mods and rockers who cry out in pain and collapse to the ground. The Dwaxi trooper laughs callously, whilst the TARDIS trio are mortified and bewildered.

DOCTOR
“You seem to have missed us. Deliberately I might add.”

NYSSA
(shocked) “These men were once your slaves and you’ve killed them! Why?!”

BILLY
(horrified) “Why did you do that?! What have they done to you?!”

DWAXI TROOPER #1
(savagely) “Nothing. I shot them because I loved it! I love seeing people getting killed! Seeing them bleed to death!”

The Dwaxi trooper laughs again mockingly.

NYSSA
(disgusted) “Stop it! What you did was monstrous!”

DWAXI TROOPER #1
“Shut up, puny girl! You freaks know what I am. So live with it! I only shot those wimps down to give you three a chance!”

DOCTOR
“A chance to do what?”

DWAXI TROOPER #1
“To run! Run like chickens!”

BILLY
“What do we do, Doctor?! He’ll shoot us down!”

DWAXI TROOPER #1
(yells) “You got that right! Start running! I want your blood spewing out while you run!”

NYSSA
(panics) “Doctor?! What do we do?!”

The Doctor remains silent as he contemplates what to do next with the Dwaxi trooper training his weapon on them.

SCENE #91 – EXT – CHURCHWOOD STREET, CARDIFF – DAY, MORNING
Back on the rooftop with Sean, he becomes infuriated and impatient as he watches.

SEAN
(bitterly, hisses) “Run, you idiots! Run!”

SCENE #92 – EXT – CHURCHWOOD STREET, CARDIFF – DAY, MORNING
The Doctor then turns to his companions.

DOCTOR
“Nyssa; Billy! We run! Come on!”

BILLY
But Doctor…

NYSSA
Don’t argue, Billy! We do as the Doctor says!

DOCTOR
Come on, you two!

The TARDIS trio run for their lives, as they get chased by the Dwaxi trooper who fires upon them with tremendous firepower. The mods and rockers that are still alive watch and jeer as well as follow after the Dwaxi trooper chasing the TARDIS trio at the same time.

SCENE #93 – EXT – CHURCHWOOD STREET, CARDIFF – DAY, MORNING
Back on the roof top with Sean, he becomes cheeky as he watches the Doctor, Nyssa and Billy run away.

SEAN
(mischievously) That’s right! Run! Run like the devils you are!

Sean then laughs to himself. Eventually, he moves and gets down from the roof.

SCENE #94 – EXT – CHURCHWOOD STREET, CARDIFF – DAY, MORNING
Meanwhile with the Doctor, Nyssa and Billy, they run with the Dwaxi trooper chasing them and hot on their heels firing at them. The TARDIS trio manage to dodge the Dwaxi trooper’s shots easily, before running around the corner.

DOCTOR
“Nyssa; Billy! Come on! We have to keep running!”

BILLY
“But I thought those guys were destroyed! When we sent them and the Daleks through the rift…”

NYSSA
(interjects) “Not now, Billy! The Doctor will explain later!”

SCENE #95 – EXT – CHURCHWOOD STREET, CARDIFF – DAY, MORNING
At the door of No. 8 in Churchwood Street, Enid sobs bitterly with Fred comforting her. Constable Wyatt then turns up.

WYATT
(out loud) “What’s going on here?! Is this a party?! What are these boys doing around here?!”

FRED
“You’re a police constable, Wyatt. Can you sort it out?!”

WYATT
“Exactly what I intend to do.” (calls; to mods; rockers) “‘Ere, you lot! What are you doing?!”

The mods and rockers that remain immediately scatter and disperse once they see Constable Wyatt.

WYATT
“‘Ere, you lot! Come back here! Right this instant!”

Disgruntled and confused, Wyatt watches as the mods and rockers run away.

WYATT
“What was that mob of hooligans up to?! Who were they trying to gang up on?!”

ENID
(cries, upset) “My son’s in trouble, Constable. And it’s all because of that girl of his! And the Doctor!”

FRED
“He’s with them right this minute now.”

ENID
(upset) “Who was that man? In that horrible suit of armour. It was so frightening!”

WYATT
(realises) “Hey, you two! Look over there!”

Enid, Fred and Wyatt look to see two motorcyclists approaching.

WYATT
(shocked) Motorcyclists?! In Churchwood Street? That’s unheard of!

FRED
They’re strange motorcycles at that.

SCENE #96 – EXT – CHURCHWOOD STREET, CARDIFF – DAY, MORNING
The Doctor, Nyssa and Billy see the motorcyclists as they approach from the far end of the street. The two motorcyclists ride on heavily armoured and powerful motorcycles.

BILLY
(anxiously) Doctor; Nyssa! We’ve got bigger problems coming our way! Look!

DOCTOR
I recognise them! It’s those two men who tried to kill me in that burning house the other day!

NYSSA
Yes! I recognise them too! They’re the two who attacked Billy in the café earlier today!

DOCTOR
And they seem to be wearing heavy motorcycling gear to go with the bikes they’re riding. Gifts of the Dwaxi no doubt.

Rick and Keith laugh mockingly whilst they power up their motorcycles.

NYSSA
(realises) “Doctor. Something’s materialising.”

At that moment, another Dwaxi motorcycle appears. The Dwaxi trooper chasing after the TARDIS trio gets onto it.

BILLY
“They beamed in another Dwaxi motorcycle! The Dwaxi trooper chasing us has just got onto it!”

NYSSA
“They’re going to give us chase!”

DOCTOR
(urgently) “We have to get away!”

RICK
(calls; mockingly) “You can’t escape from us, Doctor! Not now or ever!”

KEITH
(calls; mockingly) “We’re going to get you! We’re going to chase you!”

DWAXI TROOPER #1
(calls; vengefully) “And we’re going to kill you!!!”

The Dwaxi trooper, Rick and Keith laugh out loud mockingly whilst riding their Dwaxi motorcycles.

NYSSA
(anxiously) “Doctor! They mean us! You, me and Billy!”

BILLY
“What are we going to do, Doctor?! We can’t keep running!”

The Doctor thinks hurriedly, until…

DOCTOR
“There’s a car over there! Let’s get into it!”

BILLY
(protests) “But that’s my dad’s [car!]”

DOCTOR
(interjects) “Come on! Let’s get into it!”

The TARDIS trio make a run for it towards Fred Walker’s parked car.

SCENE #97 – EXT – CHURCHWOOD STREET, CARDIFF – DAY, MORNING
Meanwhile, Enid continues to fret while she watches and hears Rick, Keith and the Dwaxi trooper’s threats at the Doctor, Nyssa and Billy.

ENID
“No! I won’t allow them to hurt my boy!”

Fred then notices the Doctor, Nyssa and Billy making for his parked car.

FRED
(cries; realises) “Hey! That’s my car they’re taking!”

With that, Fred runs over to them.

SCENE #98 – EXT – CHURCHWOOD STREET, CARDIFF – DAY, MORNING
Fred eventually reaches his car in time to stop the Doctor, Nyssa and Billy taking it.

FRED
(protests) “Now what do you think you three are doing taking my car?!”

DOCTOR
(thrilled) “Oh Fred! Good of you to come! May I borrow your car keys for this please?! It’s urgent!”

FRED
(protests) “You can’t just…”

DOCTOR
(interrupts) “Please, Fred! It’s a matter of life and death. I promise I’ll give the keys back to you once I’ve finished with the car.”

Reluctantly, Fred fishes out his car keys. He hands them over to the Doctor.

FRED
“Here!”

DOCTOR
(to Fred) “Thank you!” (to Nyssa; Billy) “Nyssa; Billy! Get in!”

With that, the Doctor, Nyssa and Billy get into Fred’s car. Constable Wyatt then turns up.

WYATT
(protests) “Now wait a minute, you three! Where do you think you’re going?!”

FRED
(apprehensively) “What are you going to do with my car, Doctor?!”

DOCTOR
(to Fred) “Sorry, Fred; Constable Wyatt. I hope you don’t mind. But we’re rather in a hurry!”

The Doctor then starts up the car’s engine.

SCENE #99 – INT – OPS ROOM, DWAXI BASE – DAY, MORNING
In the ops room of the underground Dwaxi base, Commander Zurlt and Navigator Bolesh overlook the operation of the Dwaxi trooper, Rick and Keith pursuing the Doctor, Nyssa and Billy.

ZURLT
(yells) “Tell those two morons to get the Doctor’s backside and his two friends squashed! I want them dead! Dead, dead, dead!!! Deader than dead!!! I want them screaming with saliva!!!”

BOLESH
“Yes sir!”

SCENE #100 – EXT – CHURCHWOOD STREET, CARDIFF – DAY, MORNING
On Churchwood Street, the Dwaxi trooper, Rick and Keith laugh mockingly as they gear up their motorcycles.

RICK
Ready to burn, Keith!

KEITH
Burn?! I want to run them over flat like cardboard!

DWAXI TROOPER #1
Just shut up you two and get after ’em! After ’em!!!

Meanwhile in Fred’s car, the Doctor powers up the engine, revving it up.

DOCTOR
(apprehensively; to Nyssa; Billy) Are you two ready?!

NYSSA
You don’t know where you’re heading, Doctor!

BILLY
We’re hardly likely to outrun these guys!

DOCTOR
Yes, we will! We’ll make for the Brecon Beacons!

NYSSA
“Brecon Beacons? Is that where…?”

DOCTOR
(interjects) “Fasten your seatbelts, you two! Hold on!”

With determination, the Doctor releases the hand break, lets out the clutch and drives the car off at full speed. Enid, Fred and Wyatt watch nearby.

WYATT
(calls) “‘Ere, Doctor! You’re driving over ninety! You’re not supposed to drive over ninety miles per hour!”

ENID
(cries) “You look after my boy, Doctor!”

But the TARDIS trio have already gone, as the car drives around the corner.

DWAXI TROOPER #1
(shouts) After them! Yes! After them!!!

The three motorcyclists, Rick, Keith and the Dwaxi Trooper, rev up their bikes as they zoom off and chase after the TARDIS trio. Enid, Fred and Wyatt watch them go, worrying as the motorcyclists chase the TARDIS trio around the corner at a fast and furious speed.

SCENE #101 – EXT – CHURCHWOOD STREET, CARDIFF – DAY, MORNING
Meanwhile, outside the Glass & Hound pub, Lizzy is being carried on a stretcher. She’s about to be taken to hospital via ambulance. Alexandra and her mother Tina watch to see what’s happening as they stand outside the Glass & Hound.

TINA
(upset) This is so awful! Our Lizzy!

ALEXANDRA
They said she’ll be taken for intensive care. They don’t know what prognosis Lizzy’s condition is. Typical.

TINA
I should have told your father not to change rudiments about the school menus. Or worse, she could have done too much exercise in P.E.…

ALEXANDRA
(agitated) Honestly, Mum! I don’t know what’s happened to Lizzy! So stop whimpering and worrying! Dad was meant to take her to school this morning! I can’t imagine what’s happened to him!

TINA
I’ll definitely have a few words to say to your father when he comes, if at all.

ALEXANDRA
Bruce not able to come then?

TINA
He’s staying at home. Resting after his ordeal. He would’ve wanted to come if he wasn’t so unwell.

ALEXANDRA
“Goes to show. Brothers and sisters are unreliable!”

TINA
(upset) “Do you have to be so over-zealous about your brother?”

ALEXANDRA
“Why shouldn’t I? After all he did…”

TINA
(interrupts) “Hush, dear. Your father’s here!”

Alexandra and Tina stop talking as Danny turns up to meet them.

DANNY
(pants; out of breath; surprised) “Tina?! Didn’t expect to find you here. Have I missed much? Why’s there an ambulance here?”

TINA
(upset) “If only you’d come sooner to pick up Lizzy!”

DANNY
“Hey! I got here as soon as I could.” (puzzled) “Why are you so upset, Tina?”

ALEXANDRA
“You’ve missed a lot, Dad.”

TINA
“Our little daughter’s been taken ill! That’s why the ambulance is here!”

DANNY
(shocked) “What?! What happened? Tell me what happened?!”

ALEXANDRA
“Where’s Sean by the way? He said he’d gone to phone an ambulance. He hasn’t come back yet.”

Alexandra, Tina and Danny then watch as the ambulance with Lizzy aboard drives away and heads for the hospital.

SCENE #102 – INT – INTENSIVE WARD #1, CHURCHWOOD HOSPITAL – DAY, MORNING
In the intensive ward at Churchwood Hospital, Maria sobs bitterly and cries out in pain. She thumps her fists on the floor, trying to contain the anger within her.

MARIA
(cries) “Please! Stop it! I want it to stop! Make it stop!!!”

Maria tries to breathe deeply and calm down. But it makes things worse, as she writhes and sweats all over.

MARIA
“I’m boiling! I’m boiling all over!” (shouts) “Why can’t nobody help me?!””

Maria then beats herself on the head, as she finds it’s all too much to bear. She continues to be violent, as she gets up from the floor and bashes herself against the wall.

MARIA
“I want this to end!!! Make it end!!! Make it end now!!!”

At that moment, a teleport takes place as Dwaxi troopers led by Probationer Mullog appear. Maria sees them and stands up, ready to defend herself.

MARIA
(shouts) No! Not you lot! You won’t get me! You won’t get me!!!

Maria tries to make a pass at them, but the Dwaxi troopers immediately gang up on her and beat her up profusely. They pin Maria to the wall, as Mullog steps up to her.

MULLOG
(to Dwaxi troopers) Boys! Strap your iron fists on!

The Dwaxi troopers obey, as they strap on their iron gauntlets. Maria struggles to break free.

MULLOG
(to Maria) Don’t you get it, you puny speck?! No-one’s coming! No-one’s going to save you! Ever!!! My boys are going to have lots of fun…bashing you horrifically and tremendously! (to Dwaxi troopers) Boys! Let it rip!

With that, the Dwaxi troopers beat up Maria with their iron fists. Maria cries out in pain and agony, being horrendously tortured. Mullog laughs out loud mockingly as he watches the horrible torture done to Maria.

MULLOG
(laughs) Such entertainment!

SCENE #103 – INT – FRED’S CAR, MOTORWAY – DAY, MORNING
On a motorway close to the Brecon Beacons, the chase is on as the Doctor, Nyssa and Billy drive on the motorway in Fred’s car. They continue to be chased by the Dwaxi trooper, Rick and Keith on motorcycles.

BILLY
(apprehensively) “This is ridiculous! We’re on a motorway and they’re still chasing us!”

DOCTOR
“Relentless, aren’t they?! Good thing your dad’s car is fast enough to out manoeuvre them, Billy!”

NYSSA
“But how long will that last, Doctor?! We may be out of petrol before long.”

BILLY
“We could be driving till dinner time for all we know.”

DOCTOR
(reassuringly) “We’ve got enough petrol, don’t worry. About half a gallon left.”

The TARDIS trio continue driving, before realising that they’re being shot at. Nyssa and Billy look behind to see Rick, Keith and the Dwaxi trooper’s armed motorcycles firing upon them.

BILLY
(shocked) “They’re shooting at us?!”

NYSSA
(shocked) “With laser cannons!”

The TARDIS trio gets a shock as the back car window gets hit and is smashed to pieces. Nyssa screams as she and Billy duck whilst the Doctor continues his focus on driving the car.

BILLY
(anxiously) “Nyssa? Sweetheart? Are you alright?”

NYSSA
“I’m fine! I’m fine, Billy!” (anxiously) “They’re shooting again! Keep your head down!”

They duck again as the motorcyclists firing upon them persists.

BILLY
(panics) “Doctor, keep your head down! They’ll shoot you if [you…]”

DOCTOR
(interjects; reassuringly) “It’s alright, it’s alright! I can drive and watch myself at the same time, thank you.”

NYSSA
“Just as much as they use energy weapons to fire on us when driving on their motorcycles! Doctor, if they shoot us whilst we’re still on the motorway…”

DOCTOR
(interjects; reassuringly) “Have no fear, Nyssa! We’re driving through a bunch of cars now! Those three won’t get a clear shot at us if we’re driving among this traffic! We’ll be miles ahead of them soon!”

With that, the Doctor continues to drive at full speed.

SCENE #104 – EXT – MOTORWAY, CLOSE TO BRECON BEACONS – DAY, MORNING
Meanwhile, on the motorway, the Dwaxi trooper, Rick and Keith see what the Doctor’s trying to do as they chase after them.

RICK
(shouts) “No! No!!! They won’t get away from us!”

KEITH
(shouts) These stupid cars with those stupid pathetic people are in our way!

DWAXI TROOPER #1
(yells) Shoot them down! Shoot them down now!!!

With pleasure and mercilessly, Rick, Keith and the Dwaxi trooper fire their motorcycle weapons onto the cars in front of them on the motorway. They blow up every single car in sight, destroying them with full blasts of firepower. Rick shrieks with laughter, unable to control himself.

RICK
(shrieks) That’s right! Out of the way, you lunger-heads! This is our road! We get what we want!

KEITH
(yells) I really, really, enjoyed killing those boys and girls with their mummies and daddies in their cars!!!

DWAXI TROOPER #1
(yells) Keep on! Keep on firing at them!!!

Rick and Keith laugh out loud with vile disregard, as they and the Dwaxi trooper continue blowing up cars on the motorway with their motorcycles.

SCENE #105 – INT – FRED’S CAR, MOTORWAY – DAY, MORNING
Nyssa and Billy become horrified as they see the cars getting blown up.

BILLY
(horrified) “I don’t believe it! They just shot those cars up! They blew them up without a second thought!”

NYSSA
(horrified) “There were children in those cars. Little children. And they didn’t hesitate killing them. That’s horrendous!”

DOCTOR
(disgusted) “They blew them up so they can get them out of their way! Out of their firing range to shoot at us! Typical Dwaxi attitudes!”

NYSSA
It’s downright cold! And all that just to get at us!

BILLY
(angrily) They didn’t care! They just didn’t care!

The TARDIS trio then duck as the motorcyclists shoot at them again.

DOCTOR
(frustrated) They have Dwaxi weapons fitted to their motorcycles. So tremendously powerful and unfaltering.

BILLY
You’ve managed to dodge them pretty well, Doctor.

DOCTOR
It’s rather difficult, Billy. I’m just driving from side to side to confuse them!

NYSSA
(anxiously) They’re never going to stop! They’re never going to stop until we’re dead!

DOCTOR
Hold tight, you two! It’s twice as fast and furious this time!

With that, the Doctor puts his foot down on the accelerator.

SCENE #106 – EXT – MOTORWAY, CLOSE TO BRECON BEACONS – DAY, MORNING
The motorway becomes chaotic, as the Doctor drives Fred’s car off at an incredible speed. The Dwaxi trooper, Rick and Keith exceed the speeding limit on their motorcycle to catch the TARDIS trio up.

SCENE #107 – INT – OPS ROOM, DWAXI BASE – DAY, MORNING
In the ops room of the underground Dwaxi base, Navigator Bolesh addresses Commander Zurlt.

BOLESH
“Sir! Instigator Kolgu has arrived.”

ZURLT
“Get stuffed and leave me alone!”

BOLESH
“He has brought Lord Ramga with him!”

ZURLT
“I don’t care if he’s brought the Great Director with him!”

At that moment, Instigator Kolgu enters with Lord Ramga.

KOLGU
“Hail Lord Ramga!”

DWAXI
(in unison) “Hail Lord Ramga!!!”

Every Dwaxi trooper salutes him, as Lord Ramga makes his way towards Commander Zurlt.

ZURLT
(salutes; drearily) “Hail Lord Ramga!”

But Lord Ramga smacks Commander Zurlt in the face. This results in a furious hand-to-hand struggle between Ramga and Zurlt. Eventually, they both get held back and restrained by the Dwaxi troopers as Instigator Kolgu intervenes.

KOLGU
(shouts) “Stop it, you plonkers! The Directors are with us, remember?!”

ZURLT
“I don’t care!” (bitterly; to Ramga) “I’ve had enough to deal with the likes of you, Lord Ramga!!!”

Lord Ramga then spits in Zurlt’s face. Zurlt reacts enraged.

LORD RAMGA
“You enjoy being angry don’t you, Zurlt. It gives a good example of Dwaxi brutality. Of how chaotic and relentless the Dwaxi empire is.”

ZURLT
(bitterly) “I don’t need you to commend me!”

LORD RAMGA
“The Directors need your report, Commander. As do I.”

ZURLT
“I’m not trying to. I’m jealous of you. Horribly!!!” (Pause) “The chase is on!”

LORD RAMGA
“So I gather. And see.”

They then turn their attention to the monitor screens, as they observe the chase of the Doctor, Nyssa and Billy in Fred’s car by the Dwaxi trooper, Rick and Keith on motorcycles.

BOLESH
(to Zurlt) “Commander! Dwaxi trooper and agents are now chasing the Doctor and party in the Brecon Beacons area. They’re quite close to our critical strategic area.”

KOLGU
“They should get them in that car on both sides to catch them out.”

LORD RAMGA
(to Bolesh) “Navigator! Tell them to go in different directions to capture them! On each side! Do it before I rip out your long blond hair!”

BOLESH
“Yes, sir.”

LORD RAMGA
(savagely) “I require my treatment. Where’s the Yentias chamber?”

KOLGU
“If you’ll follow me, Lord Ramga. I’ll show you the way!”

LORD RAMGA
(savagely) “You’d better.”

Lord Ramga gets escorted out of the control room by Kolgu to the Yentias chamber. Zurlt stomps about angrily in the room once Lord Ramga is gone.

ZURLT
(growls; angrily) “I hope he suffers like hell with our muck! Ha!!!”

SCENE #108 – EXT – BRECON BEACONS, CARDIFF – DAY, MORNING
In the Brecon Beacons, the Doctor continues driving Fred’s car at full speed with Nyssa and Billy inside on a mountain. At the moment, Rick is the only one chasing them on his motorcycle.

SCENE #109 – INT – FRED’S CAR, BRECON BEACONS – DAY, MORNING
Inside Fred’s car, the TARDIS trio realise that they’re being chased by only one motorcyclist.

BILLY
“Doctor! There’s only one of them now! That Rick mod person. We’re in the Brecon Beacons and there’s only one to worry about.”

NYSSA
“What happened to the other two?! I don’t like this!”

BILLY
(optimistically) “Perhaps they got tired! They decided to give up!”

NYSSA
“No, Billy. The Dwaxi are unstoppable! They don’t give up easily!”

DOCTOR
“One, two or three of them, I can’t shake this one off!” (realises) “Oh no!”

NYSSA
“What is it? What’s wrong, Doctor?”

DOCTOR
(anxiously) “Look ahead! There’s the other two! Keith and the Dwaxi trooper!”

The TARDIS trio look to see, as Keith and the Dwaxi trooper approach them on their motorcycles from the opposite direction. Rick continues to chase up behind the TARDIS trio on his motorcycle.

BILLY
(agitated) “Aww, that’s a shabby dirty trick!”

NYSSA
“They’ve trapped us! On each side!”

DOCTOR
“Not if I have anything to do with it!”

The Doctor immediately brings the car to a halt in the middle of the road, whilst the motorcyclists on both sides drive up to them.

BILLY
(panics) “Doctor, what are you doing?!”

NYSSA
(anxiously) “You’ve stopped in the middle of the road, Doctor!”

DOCTOR
“Trust me, Nyssa; Billy! I know what I’m doing!”

NYSSA
(anxiously) “But those drivers will shred us to pieces if we stay here!”

BILLY
(panics) “Can you see their faces? They’re relishing to bump us off!”

NYSSA
(appalled) “They’re so cruel! Horrible, mocking faces!”

The TARDIS trio hear Rick and Keith laughing horrendously, as they with the Dwaxi trooper drive at furious speeds towards them on opposite sides.

RICK
(shouts; jeers) “We’ve got you now!!! We’ve got you at last, Doccy!!!”

KEITH
(yells) “We’re going to crush you until your bones crack!”

DWAXI TROOPER #1
(yells) “Die horribly in agony forever!!!”

The three motorcyclists keep on coming towards them, whilst the Doctor, Nyssa and Billy remain inside Fred’s car.

BILLY
(panics) “Doctor, they’re going to kill us!”

NYSSA
(panics) “We can’t stay here!”

DOCTOR
“Hold on! Just a little closer! A little trick under my sleeve. When I say jump out; jump out!” (Pause) “A little closer.”

As the TARDIS trio gear themselves up, the motorcyclists near towards them.

DOCTOR
“A little closer!”

The motorcyclists are nearly upon them. Their motorcycles get louder and louder, until…

DOCTOR
(shouts) “Now! Nyssa; Billy! Jump out!!!”

With that, the TARDIS trio open the car doors and quickly jump out.

SCENE #110 – EXT – BRECON BEACONS, CARDIFF – DAY, MORNING

DOCTOR
(shouts; urgently) “Both of you! Run!!!”

Once out, the Doctor, Nyssa and Billy run for cover. The three motorcyclists, realising what’s happened, scream in terror. From each side, Rick, Keith and the Dwaxi trooper crash into Fred’s car. A massive explosion occurs. Very soon, fragments of the three motorcycles and Fred’s car scatter across, leaving piles of burning wreckage.

SCENE #111 – INT – OPS ROOM, DWAXI BASE – DAY, MORNING
Back in the ops room of the underground Dwaxi base, the Dwaxi personnel see what has just happened. Commander Zurlt is there and he becomes very angry as he slams his fist and smacks Navigator Bolesh in the face. She cries out in pain once this happens.

ZURLT
(angrily) “Idiots!!! Incompetent idiots!!!”

Zurlt lets out a scream of rage, stamping his feet frantically before he calms down again.

SCENE #112 – EXT – BRECON BEACONS, CARDIFF – DAY, MORNING
Back in the Brecon Beacons, the TARDIS trio, who have just ducked for cover, observe the burning wreckage before them. They breathe a sigh of relief.

DOCTOR
(relieved; to Nyssa; Billy) “Well done, you two! Are you both alright?!”

NYSSA
(relieved) “Doctor, thank you very much! You’ve saved our lives!”

DOCTOR
(to Billy) “Sorry about your dad’s car, Billy. But it was worth the sacrifice. Even though I had promised to return his car keys to him.”

BILLY
(relieved) “Oh never mind the car, Doctor. I’ve never felt so alive!”

The TARDIS trio then laugh together, as they’re greatly relieved. A moment of silence then ensues.

DOCTOR
(gradually) “Let’s go and check on our ‘friends’, shall we?”

Eventually, the TARDIS trio get up from the ground to see the results of the explosion. Billy goes over to check on the Dwaxi trooper on the ground before he turns to the Doctor and Nyssa.

BILLY
“The Dwaxi trooper! He’s dead!”

Acknowledging Billy, the Doctor and Nyssa then check on Rick and Keith.

NYSSA
“The other two seem to be alright.”

Billy eventually goes over to join Nyssa and the Doctor as they check on Rick and Keith. The Doctor is on his hands and knees whilst he’s checking on the two.

DOCTOR
(to Rick; Keith) “Now, you two! Rick and Keith! Tell me what’s going on!”

The Doctor then receives a spit from Rick.

DOCTOR
(wryly) “Well, isn’t that nice.”

NYSSA
(berates; to Rick) “Stop that! Answer the Doctor’s question!”

RICK
(bitterly) “Get stuffed, girl!”

BILLY
“Don’t talk to Nyssa like that!, you thug!”

Rick and Keith attempt to charge up on Billy, before the Doctor holds them back and restrains them.

DOCTOR
(to Rick; Keith) “That’s enough, you two.”

The Doctor then uses his nerve-pinching technique from earlier as he applies a finger from each hand on Rick and Keith. Once that’s done, the Doctor gets Rick and Keith to lie back on the ground again, as they growl vengefully.

BILLY
(quietly; to Nyssa) “That’s a clever trick the Doctor used there. He just pressed his fingers to their necks to calm them down.”

NYSSA
(quietly; to Billy) “I’ve never seen the Doctor do that before. Unless he knows something about that red mark…” (realises) “Of course!”

BILLY
“What?”

NYSSA
“The Dwaxi use a drug that’s implanted through their necks. The red mark on the necks of these two men indicate that.”

Meanwhile, the Doctor addresses Rick and Keith.

DOCTOR
“You two men are fully drugged and conditioned Dwaxi members, aren’t you?!”

KEITH
(bitterly) “You’re dead! All of you are dead!”

RICK
(savagely) “We Dwaxi are going to win! We like beating people and making them suffer!”

DOCTOR
“Yes, so I gather.”

KEITH
(bitterly) “You’ll see who to mess with us!”

NYSSA
“I feel sorry for you two. You must have suffered yourselves to be so cruel!”

KEITH
(bitterly) “We don’t care how you feel about us, little lady!”

RICK
(savagely) “You just worry about us!” (to Doctor) “Fear us, Doctor! Fear us!!!”

DOCTOR
(matter-of-factually) “Fear’s an illusion. And I’m far too old to worry about fear.”

KEITH
“You will be afraid of us! Fear the Directors!”

BILLY
“The Directors?”

NYSSA
“Who are the Directors?”

RICK
“The ones who lead us! The ones who are going to shoot you and kill you to death!”

KEITH
(gloatingly) “You won’t be able to outsmart us this time, Doctor! The Directors will prevail!”

Just then, a teleport takes place as Rick and Keith disappear.

DOCTOR
(urgently) “Nyssa; Billy! Get back!”

NYSSA
“They’re teleporting out! We’ve got to stop them!”

BILLY
“It’s too late!”

The TARDIS trio watch, as Rick and Keith beam out from where they were. The Doctor, Nyssa and Billy remain still and silent over what’s just occurred.

BILLY
“Where do you suppose they’ve gone to, Doctor?”

DOCTOR
“Back to their Dwaxi base of operations. Wherever that is.”

NYSSA
“We’ve got more problems to deal with, Doctor.”

DOCTOR
“Yes. This is far more serious than I ever realised.”

BILLY
(realises; disgusted) “Ugh! They’ve left the body of that Dwaxi trooper behind to rot!”

DOCTOR
“No use to them now. What’s the use of a dead man to fight for you?”

NYSSA
“We should have realised. The rift; the violence….” (stops mid-sentence; realises) “Of course!”

BILLY
“What? What do you mean “Of course!”?”

Nyssa then goes over to the Dwaxi trooper’s corpse and kneels beside him.

NYSSA
“Now. Where is it?”

BILLY
“Nyssa, what are you doing?”

Nyssa fumbles through the pockets of the dead Dwaxi trooper before she finds some Yentias drug cartridges.

NYSSA
“Aha! Found them!”

Nyssa returns to the Doctor and Billy and shows them the drug cartridges.

BILLY
“What’s that you’ve got there, Nyssa?”

NYSSA
“This is what the Dwaxi use to make them endure. The Yentias drug.”

DOCTOR
“Of course! The drug that makes them increasingly and endlessly violent. That’s why a red mark was there on those poor victims’ necks. It’s where the drug intake takes place.”

BILLY
“John Graham must have taken the Yentias drug when he died.”

DOCTOR
“Indeed. And that’s why Maria Black’s been acting so violent and hostile.”

NYSSA
“Billy and I were trying to figure out why John Graham’s blood has its water removed and why he died. The Yentias could be the reason.”

DOCTOR
“Right! Let’s go back to the TARDIS and find out!”

BILLY
“We won’t be able to get back on foot in a hurry, Doctor.”

DOCTOR
“Not to worry. We’ll catch a bus. You’ve got money haven’t you, Billy?”

An awkward moment ensues.

BILLY
“Err…Nyssa? Money?”

NYSSA
(sighs, frustrated) “Really, Billy.”

Eventually, the TARDIS trio grudgingly start their walk back to the TARDIS from the Brecon Beacons.

SCENE #113 – INT – LIVING ROOM, NO. 8 – DAY, NOON
It’s now lunchtime. At No. 8 in Churchwood Street, Enid and Fred are at home with Constable Wyatt.

FRED
(worried) “I hope the Doctor’s not driving too fast with my car.”

ENID
(upset) “But where is he? Where have Billy and his two weird friends gone off to?! I feel so useless!”

WYATT
“In my professional opinion, the Doctor seems to be a man of action.”

ENID
“What…like Simon Templar? The Doctor – Roger Moore?”

FRED
(slightly annoyed; to Enid) “Oh you still haven’t got a thing for that bloke, have you?”

WYATT
(insistently) “Please, Mr. and Mrs. Walker! Let me finish!” (continues) “In my opinion, the Doctor seems to know what’s going on. At least I think so. And I’m sure he won’t let any of his friends, including your son, into any harm.”

ENID
“That remains to be seen. I still don’t trust them. Not the Doctor, not that pretty girl. Where did Billy pick those two from?”

FRED
(to Enid) “I’m anxious to know what’s going on as well, Enid dear. I mean…who were those big thugs that Billy and his friends were trying to run away from.”

ENID
“It’s not as if Billy ran away from anybody. I’m so scared about this.”

WYATT
“Now calm down, Mrs. Walker.”

ENID
(anxiously) “Supposing Billy’s dead! Oh I hope not! Oh please pray don’t let that happen!”

FRED
“Enid, please! I pray God will keep Billy safe. Him and his two friends.”

ENID
(grudgingly) “Oh very well, his friends too. But they’re as much to blame.”

WYATT
“There’s something not right here. Not right about all of this.”

FRED
“What do you mean, Constable?”

WYATT
“Well think about it, Mr. Walker. We’ve had a murder, a burning house, a gang of boys in leather jackets and motorcyclists terrorising the street. It’s like somebody’s engineered a reign of terror to happen here.”

ENID
“I couldn’t agree with you more, Constable.”

WYATT
“And from what I’ve heard recently, another victim is likely to be a murder case.”

FRED
“What do you mean…another victim, Constable?”

WYATT
“Well, haven’t you heard? I heard little Lizzy Simmons has been taken ill. She’s now in intensive care.”

ENID
(shocked) “Lizzy ill?” (concerned) “Oh no! I hope Lizzy’s alright!”

FRED
(disturbed) “Seems to be an epidemic here. This violence and misery. One wonders where it’s all coming from.”

Enid, Fred and Wyatt ponder on these things, as they sit in the living room of No. 8, Churchwood Street.

SCENE #114 – INT – TARDIS, LABORATORY #4 – N/A
In the TARDIS lab where Nyssa worked, she and the Doctor analyse John Graham’s blood sample with the Yentias drug they’ve picked up. They eventually gather their data results.

NYSSA
It’s confirmed, Doctor. The blood sample and the drug properties we analysed are equally matched. It’s definitely the Yentias drug. And it replaced John Graham’s seventy per cent of water with seventy per cent of Yentias in his blood stream before he died.

DOCTOR
So that’s what it was all about. John Graham was suffering from the intake of the Yentias drug when he took it upon himself. That’s why he couldn’t sleep and control his temper.

NYSSA
The drug inhibits the sleep nerve in our bodies, yes I remember. It induces chemicals which makes the victim to be fully awake. Without resting but generating violent thoughts and instincts.

DOCTOR
“And hence the agony and hostile rage he unleashed when he fell down from that building after being shot by the Dwaxi. He couldn’t contain it.”

NYSSA
“But the Dwaxi are conditioned before they take the drug. They’re given Dwaxi ideals and thoughts to think about before they’re injected with Yentias.”

DOCTOR
“Obviously Graham wasn’t conditioned. Those two boys Rick and Keith were conditioned and drugged. They may have willingly committed to become part of the Dwaxi cause.”

NYSSA
(thinks) “Water.” (realises) “Yes! The Dwaxi use Yentias as their means of breathing as we breathe oxygen. The water kills them instantly as we saw before. Hence why the blood sample of John Graham indicated he was dependent on Yentias. He couldn’t breathe oxygen or drink water.”

DOCTOR
“Graham was slowly dying of dehydration when his body was adapting to the drug properties injected into his blood stream. The drug alters biology as well as personality.”

NYSSA
“It’s obscene. Disgustingly horrible.”

DOCTOR
“To us, yes. But to a Dwaxi, it’s wonderful.”

NYSSA
“Exactly. It’s a horrendous doctrine.”

At that moment, Billy enters. He carries the cuddly toy dog, Cuddles, with him.

BILLY
Hey there, you two! I thought you’d like to know that the bullet used to fire on John Graham is of Dwaxi origin. According to the TARDIS databanks, which I rechecked from the information of our last encounter with the Dwaxi, it’s an upgraded form of bullet. That means the Dwaxi must have advanced in arms.

DOCTOR
Thank you, Billy. Now it’s just a matter of knowing their numbers and how long they’ve been here.

NYSSA
And what they intend to do with the Earth.

DOCTOR
Indeed.

Moment of tense silence ensues before Billy shows Cuddles to Nyssa.

BILLY
(happily; to Nyssa) Hey, Nyssa! Cuddles is very happy to see you!

NYSSA
(cheered up) Yes. (happily; to Cuddles) Hello, Cuddles!

BILLY
(as Cuddles) “Wuff! Wuff!” (as himself) “See! He’s missed you!”

Nyssa and Billy giggle with each other.

DOCTOR
(slightly annoyed) “Really Billy! Do you have to bring that toy with you into the TARDIS lab?!”

BILLY
“Hey! I’m trying to make sure everyone’s happy for a few moments. The Dwaxi make you depressed once you’ve set your eyes on them!” (Pause; sighs) “I still can’t believe they’ve managed to survive. After all this time!”

DOCTOR
“I’m afraid sending them back through the rift wasn’t enough, Billy. They must have entered through a crack in the fabric of reality. And escaped in order to get to another place and time before ending up here.”

NYSSA
“They followed the trace to where they could reform their strategy.”

DOCTOR
“And now they intend to change the entire human population of ninety sixty-five with their ideals.”

BILLY
It’s frightening. And in my own home town. My birth place.

DOCTOR
I’m really sorry, Billy. We will get rid of them, I promise. We’ll rid them of their evil and malevolence.

NYSSA
Doctor, the rift we travelled upon to get to Earth in nineteen sixty-five was obviously the rift the Dwaxi use.

DOCTOR
Yes, Nyssa. Obviously.

NYSSA
Well, in my theory, it directs them back to their realm beyond the boundaries. Beyond the void in time and space. Across another dimension.

BILLY
You mean…back to their home town.

NYSSA
(to Billy) Putting it simply, yes. Mathematically, it would be easier to understand as well. (to Doctor) Doctor, if we’re to send the Dwaxi back to where they came from, do you think we could…

DOCTOR
No, Nyssa. It’s too dangerous and very risky.

NYSSA
“It’s worth the risk to save Billy’s home! Isn’t it, Doctor?”

BILLY
“I’m not quite following this. Can someone explain?”

DOCTOR
“Nyssa’s suggesting we enter the rift to reach the Dwaxi home world.”

BILLY
(astonished) “What?! Is that possible?”

NYSSA
“Theoretically, yes. With the TARDIS…”

DOCTOR
“It’s too dangerous, Nyssa!”

NYSSA
“We can still make a few tests, Doctor. A few experiments to see whether it’s possible.” (Pause) “There’s no harm in experimenting, is there?”

Moment of silence.

DOCTOR
(gradually) “Alright. We’ll do a few tests. We’ll try something in the console room.”

BILLY
“What have you in mind then, Doctor?”

DOCTOR
“I still have my temporal oscillation displacer here.”

The Doctor takes out the temporal oscillation displacer from his coat pocket.

NYSSA
“You’re going to use that to access the data you found through the TARDIS data bank, Doctor?”

DOCTOR
“More than that. I’m hoping to use the data to puncture a hole through the rift boundaries. For us to see a little more of the Dwaxi home world.” (eagerly) “Come on, you two. Let’s go to the console room.”

NYSSA
“Just as you say, Doctor.”

DOCTOR
“Oh by the way. Can I take one of those Yentias cartridges from you, Nyssa? I may need it for experimentation later on.”

NYSSA
“By all means.”

DOCTOR
“Thank you.”

Nyssa then gives one of the Yentias cartridges to the Doctor, to which he takes and puts it in his coat pocket.

BILLY
(cheerfully) “Shall I bring Cuddles along, Nyssa?”

DOCTOR
(annoyed) “Oh really, Billy! Do you have to be so silly?”

NYSSA
“Yes, Billy. Bring Cuddles with you.”

BILLY
(as Cuddles) “Wuff!”

With that, the Doctor, Nyssa and Billy with Cuddles head out of the TARDIS lab as they make for the console room.

NYSSA
(to Doctor) I like it when Billy tries to cheer us up, Doctor. You should appreciate that.

DOCTOR
It’s a bit difficult when you’ve got a super-advanced race of thugs on your front door, Nyssa.
