‘THE TROUBLE WITH SHELLSHOCK’ (MMPR)
Please feel free to comment on my review.

This is the first ‘Power Rangers’ episode where Tommy the Green Ranger is one of the team and he’s not evil, following ‘Green With Evil’. It was good to see Tommy with Jason, Kimberly, Zack, Trini and Billy when they were playing basketball, establishing the friendship and camaraderie between them.
I admit, it does seem rather quick for Tommy to become friends with the five Power Rangers teens after having tried to destroy them under Rita Repulsa’s spell. I would have done an aftermath episode where Tommy reflects on what happened and he has his new-found friends helping him.
Meanwhile, Squatt and Baboo try to prove their efforts to Rita Repulsa by creating their own deadly monster that will destroy the Power Rangers. This monster ends up being Shellshock, who is a turtle with an array of objects, such as a baseball and a bat, a hook, a cannon, traffic lights on his head, etc.
Shellshock is sent to attack Jason, Kimberly, Zack, Trini and Billy whilst Tommy is away doing a karate class. Shellshock uses his green ray to freeze Kimberly, Zack and Billy on the spot whilst making Trini run without stopping. 😮 Jason does get to evade Shellshock’s attack before the monster disappears.
Jason brings Kimberly, Zack and Billy to the Command Center and asks for Zordon and Alpha’s help. Zordon says a Deandra flower can reverse the effects of Shellshock’s power over the frozen teens. He sends Trini to find the flower at the Mountain of Hope. I assume that the mountain is on Earth. 😀
It also seems Trini is able to control her body whilst running in her Yellow Ranger outfit, but not stop her body running. I wonder how challenging that must’ve been for Trini when running to the Mountain of Hope (must be in Angel Grove). 😀 Thankfully, Trini gets to locate the flower she needs.
Trini uses the flower to reverse the effects of Shellshock’s powers over her frozen friends as well as herself. This also allows Jason and Tommy their chance to defeat Shellshock at the story’s end. Jason uses the Red Tyrannosaurus Dinozord and Tommy uses the Green Dragonzord to thwart Shellshock.
‘The Trouble With Shellshock’ is another enjoyable ‘Power Rangers’ episode with the new team of six heroes following ‘Green With Evil’. It’s interesting the Rangers never used the fully assembled Dino Megazord to fight Shellshock, and it’s fascinating that Trini’s Sabre-Toothed Tiger Dinozord helped her.
‘The Trouble With Shellshock’ (MMPR) rating – 7/10
