Hello everyone! 🙂
Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!
So, some time has passed since the release of the four teaser trailers of ‘Avengers: Doomsday’, the upcoming ‘Marvel Cinematic Universe’ film that’s due to be shown at cinemas in December 2026. I believe now is a good time to share my thoughts on them. 🙂
I managed to see one of the teaser trailers for ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ at the cinema when I went to see ‘Avatar: Fire and Ash’ earlier this year. That being the third one featuring the X-Men. I managed to see all the other three teaser trailers for ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ on YouTube.
From watching the teaser trailers themselves, the film looks to be epic. I’m disappointed we didn’t get to have any confirmation that Spider-Man (whether it’s Tom Holland or the three of them), Deadpool or Wolverine are going to be in the film or not. We’ll have to stay tuned.
They may appear in ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’ in 2027 for all I know. Regardless, there was a nice surprise in one of the teaser trailers where a certain returning character is going to be in ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ as he wasn’t announced in the cast announcement trailer last year.
Let’s go through each of the four teaser trailers in turn, shall we?
Steve Rogers Will Return
Yes! Chris Evans is making a return as Steve Rogers a.k.a. Captain America in ‘Avengers: Doomsday’. Not sure how that’s going to work considering we saw him as an old man in ‘Avengers: Endgame’. Maybe the continuity issues of that film will be resolved in this one.
From seeing the teaser trailer, it looks like Steve is now living with Hayley Atwell as Peggy Carter. And it turns out they’ve had a baby – a son, I presume. I’m not sure if this is the same Steve that we saw in ‘Avengers: Endgame’ or an alternative universe version of him.
After all, ‘Avengers: Endgame’ is a movie that seemingly deals with parallel universes if we’re take Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom into account. I also wonder whether Steve Rogers will interact with Doctor Doom and realise that he looks like his old friend Tony Stark.
The Captain America suit that Peggy (I believe it’s her) takes out looks like the one from ‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier’. It looks bluer compared to the traditional Captain America suit that Steve Rogers wore with red, blue and white on it. Just an observation. 😐
If we’re to take it on face value that Steve Rogers in ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ comes from our universe, I assume he’d be living with Peggy and their child in the 1950s or 60s. It’s been a while since I’ve seen ‘Avengers: Endgame’, but he did return to the past in 1949.
Thor Will Return
Okay, so we already knew Chris Hemsworth was returning to play Thor again in ‘Avengers: Doomsday’. But this teaser trailer does clarify what kind of character Thor is in this film. Thankfully, he doesn’t seem to be the ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’ version of the character.
From seeing the teaser, it’s clear that he’s the more serious Thor that’s determined to fight bravely and he’s clearly troubled by something that’s going to happen in ‘Avengers: Doomsday’. There don’t seem to be the comedic antics that Thor had from ‘Love and Thunder’. 🙂
Thor seems to have had a haircut in the time between ‘Love and Thunder’ and ‘Doomsday’. I prefer that look when he got it in ‘Thor: Ragnarok’ and ‘Avengers: Infinity War’. 🙂 I wish he’d kept that look for ‘Avengers: Endgame’ and ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’.
We get to see Thor with his new daughter Love, who he adopted at the end of ‘Love and Thunder’. India Rose Hemsworth is still playing the character as she did when she was in ‘Love and Thunder’. She might have more lines in ‘Doomsday’ than ‘Love and Thunder’. 🙂
When Thor is praying to his father Odin, I don’t think this necessarily guarantees a return appearance of Anthony Hopkins as Odin from the ‘Thor’ films. You never know though. ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ is about to have lots of surprises concerning returning characters.
The X-Men Will Return
This is the teaser trailer I was most excited by, especially when it has the X-Men in it, who will be making their proper debut in the ‘MCU’ in ‘Avengers: Doomsday’. Technically, it happened with Beast in ‘The Marvels’ and of course in ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ recently.
It was great to see Patrick Stewart as Professor Charles Xavier, Ian McKellen as Magneto and James Marsden as Cyclops in the teaser trailer. I’m assuming that the X-Men in ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ will not be the same ones we’ve seen in the previous ‘X-Men’ films.
I say that because Cyclops is wearing a different uniform compared to the one he wore in the original ‘X-Men’ film trilogy. He’s wearing the outfit that resembles Cyclops more in the comics as well as the animated TV series. The same is for Xavier and Magneto, I believe.
I’m also assuming that the prequel ‘X-Men’ films featuring James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender are going to be ignored in terms of continuity when we see the X-Men in ‘Avengers: Doomsday’. In my opinion, that’s probably for the best when seeing the movie.
After all, the last two ‘X-Men’ films ‘Apocalypse’ and ‘Dark Phoenix’ mucked up the continuity of the ‘X-Men’ films so badly that I don’t think ‘Doomsday’ and ‘Secret Wars’ would be able to rectify resolving. Or perhaps they will. Again, we’ll have to stay tuned. 😀
The Wakandans and the Fantastic Four Will Return
Okay, let me start off by saying that it should have said The Wakandans and Ben Grimm Will Return. We didn’t get to see Sue Storm, Reed Richards nor Johnny Storm in the teaser trailer. I mean, hopefully they will appear in ‘Avengers: Doomsday’, according to last year.
But couldn’t we have had brief shots of Sue, Reed and Johnny meeting the Wakandans as well as Ben? I suppose I should be thankful that Namor is in the teaser trailer since the character himself encountered the Fantastic Four in the comic stories and the cartoon TV show.
Heck, why didn’t the tagline say The Wakandans, Namor and Ben Grimm Will Return. I know I’m being nitpicky, but the tagline isn’t quite accurate. You could have easily had just the Wakandans appearing in the teaser trailer, as it’s more about them, quite frankly.
Admittedly, it’s been a while since I’ve seen ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’, but it’s nice to see Letitia Wright as Shuri and Winston Duke as M’Baku. I don’t know if rewatching ‘Wakanda Forever’ before viewing ‘Doomsday’ at the cinema is a big priority by this point.
Maybe not, considering there are going to be plenty of characters to see in ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ when it comes out at cinemas in December 2026. Hopefully, when I got to see the film at the cinema, the experience of seeing it should be satisfying enough indeed.
I’m very pleased to have seen the four teaser trailers of ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ recently. I don’t think there’s a lot to tell in terms of what the actual story is, especially when none of the teaser trailers have Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom in them, which is surprising.
Heck, Ant-Man, Loki and the New Avengers aren’t in the teaser trailers either. Whatever happens, I’m sure the build-up to the release of ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ at the cinema will be worthwhile. There’s ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ to look forward to first, which I’m excited for.

Thanks for watching and reading!
Bye for now!
