Hello everyone! 🙂
Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!
It’s Day 22 of ‘Bradley’s Basement’s Advent Calendar 2025.
Let’s how well Toby is settling in on the Island of Sodor in this ‘Thomas’ episode!
‘DIRTY OBJECTS’
This ‘Thomas’ episode is based on the story of the same name from the seventh ‘Railway Series’ book ‘Toby the Tram Engine’ – the third story to be precise. Whilst this episode is technically about Toby, it’s also about James the Red Engine, who insults Toby very rudely.
He calls Toby and his coach Henrietta ‘dirty objects’. Toby gets his own back by saying James had to have bootlaces ‘to be ready’, referencing ‘James and the Coaches’. James of course is ‘red than ever’, though perhaps his cheeks seen to be very red would have helped.
We then see James taking a ‘slow goods’ train where he has to pick up trucks at every station. Not sure how many trucks he picked up at every station, but there’s clearly a lot of them. Mind you, it could’ve been the same amount James had in ‘Troublesome Trucks’.
Speaking of which, I’m sure shots of ‘Troublesome Trucks’ were reused to illustrate James pulling his ‘slow goods’ train up Gordon’s hill. The only difference is that instead of being successful in pulling his train, the trucks end up bumping James to go off down the hill. 😐
James ends up crashing into some tar wagons close to the station at the bottom of the hill. Mind you, we don’t see James approaching when he’s about to crash into the tar wagons. Toby calls James a ‘dirty object’, as he and Percy help to put him back on the rails.
Thanks for reading and watching!
Check out what Day 22 of my ‘Bradley’s Basement’s Advent Calendars for 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024 were about!
Bye for now!
Tim 🙂
