How will things turn out on the Island of Sodor when Henry, Gordon and James go on strike?

‘TROUBLE IN THE SHED’

This is the second of three-linked episodes in Season 1 of ‘Thomas’. It’s based on the story of the same name from the fifth ‘Railway Series’ book ‘Troublesome Engines’. It was the third story published in the book. We’re also introduced to a new character in the TV series.

Following on from ‘Tenders and Turntables’, the Fat Controller is disappointed to find Henry, Gordon and James refusing to work because they won’t ‘shunt like common tank engines’. The Fat Controller decides to send Edward to collect coaches for the engines. 🙂

Unfortunately, Edward is the victim of abuse when Henry, Gordon and James hiss rudely at him, considering him a traitor when they say, “Tender engines don’t shunt”. The Fat Controller decides to find another tank engine to resolve the issue that Edward is having.

This is where we’re introduced to a new green tank engine named Percy. He’s a cheeky little engine but very willing to work hard. Percy gets on well with Edward when they work together. 🙂 Percy also plays tricks on other engines like Henry when he wheeshes at him.

Later, Thomas is summoned by the Fat Controller. It turns out Henry, Gordon and James are still sulking, and the Fat Controller has decided to shut them up in the shed. Thomas and Edward get to work on the main line whilst Percy gets to work on Thomas’ branch line.
