Hello everyone! 🙂
Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!
It’s Day 5 of ‘Bradley’s Basement’s Advent Calendar 2025.
Shall we check out another ‘Thomas the Tank Engine & Friends’ episode?
‘THOMAS AND THE TRUCKS’
“Look out for the train!” There you are, I said it! 😀 For those who don’t know, this is in reference to a goof on a US VHS release version of ‘Thomas and the Trucks’ where someone said, “Look out for the train!”. I didn’t experience that on the UK VHS release. 😀
‘Thomas and the Trucks’ is the sixth episode in Season 1 of ‘Thomas the Tank Engine & Friends’. It is based on the story of the same name from the second ‘Railway Series’ book ‘Thomas the Tank Engine’. The story was published third after ‘Thomas’ Train’ in the book.
In ‘Thomas and the Trucks’, Thomas is still grumbling about not being more than a tank engine pushing and pulling coaches for big engines to take out on long journeys. Edward offers to let Thomas take his train of trucks the next day, to which Thomas eagerly agrees.
The episode depicts more about what the Troublesome Trucks on the Island of Sodor are like, as they’re considered ‘silly and noisy’. In this story, they cause trouble for Thomas when he pulls them. The trucks push him down Gordon’s Hill when he’s caught unawares.
The incidental music for this episode (and the first two seasons) by Mike O’Donnell and Junior Campbell is very good. It was very exciting to see Thomas and the trucks journeying through Henry’s Tunnel and up Gordon’s Hill with the music playing in the background. 🙂
Thanks for reading and watching!
