It’s Day 3 of ‘Bradley’s Basement’s Advent Calendar 2025.

Here we are on the fourth episode of Season 1 of ‘Thomas the Tank Engine & Friends’!

‘EDWARD, GORDON AND HENRY’

I saw this episode after seeing ‘The Sad Story of Henry’, as part of the first eight episodes of Season 1 of ‘Thomas’ released on VHS. It’s an episode where Edward, Gordon and Henry are united as a threesome and it resolves the cliffhanger in ‘The Sad Story of Henry’.

‘Edward, Gordon and Henry’ is based on the story of the same name from the first ‘Railway Series’ book ‘The Three Railway Engines’, which was the fourth and final story of that book. Imagine if this had been shown before Thomas’ debut in ‘Thomas and Gordon’.

Like I said, we have the previous story’s cliffhanger resolved where Henry got bricked up because he refused to exit his tunnel for fear of the rain spoiling his green coat of paint. Not sure how much time has passed since ‘The Sad Story of Henry’. A few months maybe?

When pulling the big Express train, Gordon’s safety valve bursts and he’s unable to pull the train anymore. Edward comes along to push the train from behind, but he can’t. I’m surprised he didn’t come to the front of the train instead. 😐 That’s usually the way to do it.

Eventually, Gordon suggests Henry pull the train instead and the Fat Controller agrees. Henry exits the tunnel by going backwards and soon pulls the Express with Edward pushing from behind. I’m glad this concludes Henry’s certain story on a happy note.
