Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

At long last! Since its release in January 2024, I’ve been able to check out and do reviews on the audio adaptations of three ‘Dad’s Army’ episodes made by Big Finish. This is the first ‘Dad’s Army’ item released by Big Finish called ‘Dad’s Army: The Radio Show’, starring Jack Lane and David Benson. I’m pleased I’ve checked out this audio release by Big Finish, since I’m a huge ‘Dad’s Army’ fan. Plus, it’s been interesting to check out these audio episodes performed by two actors playing a variety of ‘Dad’s Army’ characters.

The episodes included in the ‘Dad’s Army: The Radio Show’ audio release by Big Finish include ‘When You’ve Got to Go’ from Series 8, the Christmas Special called ‘My Brother and I’, and the very last ‘Dad’s Army’ episode from Series 9 called ‘Never Too Old’. Jack Lane plays Captain Mainwaring, Lance Corporal Jones and Private Pike whilst David Benson plays Sergeant Wilson, Private Frazer and Private Godfrey. Jack Lane and David Benson have also contributed to the ‘Dad’s Army: The Missing Episodes’ DVD release containing animation versions of the lost episodes ‘The Loneliness of the Long-Distance Walker’ and ‘Under Fire’. It’s been fascinating to check out Jack Lane and David Benson’s version of ‘Dad’s Army’ where they’ve recorded episodes in front of a live audience at the Capitol Theatre in Horsham.

Let’s hope another volume of ‘Dad’s Army: The Radio Show’ by Big Finish, starring Jack Lane and David Benson comes along, as there are still some more ‘Dad’s Army’ episodes left to be adapted for audio. Maybe an audio release containing ‘The Love of Three Oranges’, ‘The Miser’s Hoard’ and ‘The Making of Private Pike’ will come soon. We’ll have to wait and see.
