Hello everyone! 🙂
Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!
It’s my final BB@10 reflection today! What better topic to end this series of reflections on by talking about the yearly reports that I’ve shared on ‘Bradley’s Basement’ at the end of each year. These provide summaries on everything that’s occurred on my blog every year.
When I did my first yearly report on 2015 in December that year, it was meagre. I mean, I only just started my blog at the time. I couldn’t share much with what I’d done on my blog so far. I’d only done about three months or so before getting into my blog proper next year.
My 2015 report was basically sharing as much as I could recall of the year by sharing brief highlights of every month. On reflection though, it set the template for what I could do in sharing brief summaries on each month in a year, which I’ve been doing so since I began.
It’s amazing that I did ‘Big Finish Day 6’ in January of that year as well as ‘Valiant 2015’ in March, discovering ‘TravelWise’ for the first time in April, saw ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’ at the cinema in May, and saw Peter Davison and Sarah Sutton together at ‘H-Con’ in July.
For my 2016 report, my approach to doing yearly reports became more confident. I had more to refer to, having done so much in every month of that year. 2016 might also be considered a blissful experience for me, as I tackled doing my blog for an entire year then.
I’m thrilled by the fact that I started doing my ‘Nyssa Challenge’ marathon from the end of January as well as started sharing my ‘Fifth Doctor’ series with the stories ‘The Railway of Time’, ‘The Space Hotel’, ‘Doom of the Daleks’ and ‘The Tree of Riverloth’. All in 2016. 🙂
My 2016 approach in doing yearly reports continued in 2017, 2018 and 2019. Every year was different, but my summaries on every month were in the same style. I maintained a balance of ‘Doctor Who’ along with films and TV shows I shared on my blog in my reports.
It’s amazing in 2017 that I shared the announcement of Jodie Whittaker as the Thirteenth Doctor as well as the casting of her companions in Bradley Walsh, Tosin Cole and Mandip Gill. 🙂 A year later in 2018, I did quick reviews on Jodie’s first season in Series 11.
I consider 2019 to be a great year for me in terms of doing my blog. This is especially when I saw Sarah Sutton, my favourite ‘Doctor Who’ companion, at four conventions, including Leicester in January, London and Cardiff in March, and Glasgow in August. Super times!
2020 is the ‘year from hell’ that many of us didn’t expect. What was supposed to be the beginning of a brand-new decade ended up being a miserable year where many of us had to stay at home due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Meaning no cinemas and no conventions.
Whilst 2020 was a bad year, it allowed me to do more with my blog than I could have possibly imagined, including more ‘Doctor Who’ reviews and checking out streaming sites like Disney+. And I at least got to see Sarah Sutton for a Zoom call session in November 2020.
2021 was a marked improvement compared to 2020, especially with pandemic restrictions easing. I got to see Sarah Sutton, Peter Davison and Janet Fielding at ‘Bedford Who Charity Con 6’ in October, and ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ came out in December.
2022 was back on track with things relatively returning to normal, and 2023 was an exciting year to celebrate ‘Doctor Who’s 60th anniversary. 2024 wasn’t a good year for many people, including me, but I still got to share exciting blog posts and reviews that year.
No doubt, 2025 will have its own yearly report when I get to writing it up in December this year. It’ll certainly be an interesting report to reflect on how 2025 turned out in terms of celebrating 10 years of ‘Bradley’s Basement’ and whether I achieved all I wanted to do this year.
Thanks for reading!
Bye for now!
Tim 🙂
