Hello everyone! 🙂
Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!
A superhero film series that I’m very pleased to have done my reviews on is the ‘X-Men’ film series produced by 20th Century Fox (now called 20th Century Studios). It was a fascinating film series to check out and revisit when it came to doing the in-depth reviews.
Initially, in terms of doing my blog, I saw ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’ in 2016 and ‘X-Men: Dark Phoenix’ in 2019 at the cinema. I shared quick reviews on the movies at the time. They’re no longer available on my blog, as I deleted them once I shared my in-depth reviews afterwards.
In hindsight, deleting some of my initial reviews on certain movies was a mistake. I don’t do that so often now when it comes to doing an in-depth review, as it’s sometimes good to refer to what your initial impressions of a movie are before doing new an in-depth review.
My in-depth reviews on the ‘X-Men’ films happened in the middle of 2021. We were still under the cloud of the Covid-19 pandemic at the time, though it wasn’t as bad as 2020. I’d been meaning to do my in-depth reviews on the ‘X-Men’ films since seeing ‘Dark Phoenix’ in 2019.
I shared my in-depth reviews on ‘X-Men’ and ‘X-Men 2’ in June 2021. In July, I shared my in-depth review on ‘X-Men: The Last Stand’, the third and final instalment of the original trilogy. It was very good to do an in-depth review on ‘The Last Stand’ after initially not liking it in 2006.
I moved on to do my in-depth review on ‘X-Men Origins: Wolverine’, which is a hugely despised film, yet I still found it very entertaining. It was where I shared a video reaction to Deadpool not looking like Deadpool from the ‘Deadpool’ films that we know him for today.
After that, I moved into prequels’ territory where I reviewed ‘X-Men: First Class’. I went back into the Wolverine side of things by sharing my in-depth review on ‘The Wolverine’. It was the first time I’d seen the film on DVD and it was so fascinating to see it set in Japan.
Next, I shared my in-depth review on ‘X-Men: Days of Future Past’. Then I did my in-depth reviews on ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’ and ‘X-Men: Dark Pheonix’. I concluded my ‘X-Men Film Review Season’ with the spin-off film ‘The New Mutants’, which was released in 2020.
I never saw that movie on the big screen due to the Covid-19 pandemic, but it was interesting to check it out on DVD. The ‘X-Men’ films have been inconsistent in terms of their continuity, but they’ve been thoroughly entertaining in their varying levels of quality.
The one film from the ‘X-Men’ film series I’ve not had a chance to review is the 2017 film ‘Logan’. I hope I’ll get a chance to check it out someday. I have the film on DVD and the film is available to see on Disney+. It’s just finding the right time to give it my full attention.
The same can be said for the ‘Deadpool’ movies, although I’ve been able to do ‘quick’ reviews on the first ‘Deadpool’ movie, ‘Deadpool 2’ and ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’. I saw ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ on the big screen in July 2024. I greatly enjoyed seeing the film. 🙂
I’ve enjoyed working on the ‘Deadpool’ reviews with Timelord007, who has had opportunities to play his version of Deadpool. I don’t know what the future of ‘Deadpool’ films is going to be like, but should there be another one, I’m looking forward to seeing it.
I’m currently looking forward to seeing the X-Men back in action in the upcoming ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ film in 2026. How their appearance will be presented in ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ compared to the previous ‘X-Men’ films is a mystery, but still, an exciting one.
The X-Men have also appeared in their own cartoon TV series from the 1990s. I’ve not had a chance to see that yet, though they did appear in a 1990s ‘Spider-Man’ animated TV series story. I hope there’ll be a chance for me to check out the 1990s ‘X-Men’ cartoon TV series soon. 🙂
Thanks for reading!
Bye for now!
Tim 🙂
