Hello everyone! 🙂
Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!
We’ve come to the end of 2024! How was this year? Well, I can’t say it’s been an entirely satisfying year. There have been ups and downs along the way, certainly in the summer months. I didn’t really get the chance to have a summer holiday this year, which is a pity.
Mainly, the spring and winter months have been good compared to the middle part of 2024. I guess the main reason for me finding the year underwhelming is the fact that I was recovering from the excitement in 2023 when ‘Doctor Who’s 60th anniversary happened.
I had a lot of catching up to do concerning things I postponed in 2023, including ‘The Nyssa Challenge’ mini-review season I planned for 2023 to 2024 that ended up happening in April 2024. There were also ‘The Collection’ Blu-ray box sets of ‘Doctor Who’.
At this point in time, I’m still updating my reviews on classic TV seasons of ‘Doctor Who’ based on their Blu-ray box sets. I’ve updated my reviews on Seasons 2 and 9. I’m hoping to share my brand-new reviews on Seasons 15, 20 and 25 sometime soon in the New Year.
There are also my in-depth reviews on Series 14 of the new ‘Doctor Who’ TV series with Ncuti Gatwa and Millie Gibson that I’m hoping to share in 2025. I’ve found 2024 to be quite a slow year, and the output of reviews hasn’t been in-depth compared to previous years.
There were also personal issues for me to contend with. My Dad hasn’t had a good year since he was in hospital in June and had to go to hospital again in September. Thankfully, he’s doing okay, but it did delay my time with the ‘Bradley’s Basement’ stuff I had in mind.
I originally planned to do a ‘Power Month II’ review season on some ‘Mighty Morphin Power Rangers’ episodes, which sadly didn’t happen. You may have noticed I haven’t shared any ‘Basement News’ blog posts this year, as I wasn’t able to find time to do them.
There was a comic con I was hoping to go to in Bolton with Peter Davison and Sarah Sutton as guests. That didn’t happen due to the event being rescheduled from May to August and Peter and Sarah didn’t go to the event in the end. Therefore, I didn’t go either.
Thankfully, there were some good things to enjoy about 2024. Despite the setbacks, I managed to achieve some things with my blog this year and I’d like to share with you what those things were. 2024 wasn’t the best year for ‘Bradley’s Basement’, but it was decent.
JANUARY

2024 began with me sharing my quick review on Season 2 of ‘The Santa Clauses’, starring Tim Allen. I was having the Christmas blues then. I’d only just finished checking out the season on New Year’s Day. I shared my thoughts on the season as soon as I could.

Throughout most of the year, I’d been working on ‘The Sunfire Chronicles’, a series of four ‘Doctor Who’ short stories linked by a certain theme, which I worked on with people like Timelord007, WilliamsFan92, Wolfie/Alan Camlaan of the Divergent Wordsmiths, and AFJ Kernow. I made a start on writing up ‘The Sunfire Chronicles’ in January this year.

I’ve not done that many Big Finish audio reviews in 2024, but I’m glad I checked some out this year. The first one I shared a review on was ‘Watchers’, the first audio novel by Matthew Waterhouse, featuring the Fourth Doctor, Adric and the Daleks. This was in preparation for checking out Matthew’s second audio novel for Big Finish called ‘Prisoners of London’. This would be in my ‘Nyssa Challenge’ mini-review season from March to April.

Whilst I’ve not updated my reviews on Season 20 of the classic ‘Doctor Who’ TV series based on its ‘Collection’ Blu-ray box set, I at least did a quick review on the box set after checking it out over Christmas in 2023. It’s a very exciting Blu-ray box set to check out. I’m looking forward to updating my reviews on the stories in the season very soon in 2025.

I did a Disney+ Roundup in January by checking out the movies ‘The Apple Dumpling Gang’, ‘Blank Check’ and ‘Mr. Popper’s Penguins’. It’s just as well I checked out ‘The Apple Dumpling Gang’ back in January, since that’s not available on Disney+ anymore in the UK. 😐

Whilst I didn’t share many in-depth reviews on ‘Bradley’s Basement’ this year, I did share my review on the 2001 TV production of ‘The Life and Adventures of Nicholas Nickleby’, starring Charles Dance, James D’Arcy, Gregor Fisher and Pam Ferris. It happened to be my second to last review from the days when I used to do my reviews on Amazon.co.uk.

I also shared a quick review on ‘Dad’s Army: The Missing Episodes’, which I purchased on DVD in 2023. I enjoyed checking out the animation episodes on the missing Series 2 episodes as well as the missing Christmas mini-episodes. Hopefully for my blog’s 10th anniversary in 2025, I’ll do in-depth reviews on those episodes and on the Big Finish audio productions of ‘Dad’s Army: The Radio Show’, which I’ve been able to check out recently.

Throughout January, I saw the extended editions of ‘The Lord of the Rings’ film trilogy directed by Peter Jackson at the cinema. I had a great time seeing these movies on the big screen with my parents, and it was lovely to see the extended versions of the films.
FEBRUARY

In February, I shared a couple of brand-new ‘Doctor Who’ timelines for the characters Sam Jones, a companion for the Eighth Doctor, and the Merlin Doctor. This was all in preparation for two ‘Short Trips’ book anthologies I was to share in the upcoming ‘Nyssa Challenge’ mini-review season from March to April, including ‘Short Trips’ and ‘More Short Trips’. 🙂

Sadly, this year, we lost some celebrities in 2024. In February, we lost Ian Lavender, who played Private Pike in ‘Dad’s Army’, and we lost Michael Jayston, who played the Valeyard in ‘Doctor Who’. I’m lucky I met Michael Jayston at a few conventions, and I’m pleased I included his ‘Doctor Who’ character in my 60th anniversary story ‘The Thirteen+ Doctors’.

I shared a compilation of interviews I did with Sarah Sutton (Nyssa in ‘Doctor Who’) at conventions from 2015 to 2023. It was fortunate I shared that compilation on the 7th of February 2024, as Big Finish announced they adapted ‘Goth Opera’, one of my favourite Fifth Doctor novels, into an audio drama. I was looking forward to checking it out soon. 🙂

One of the Christmas presents I received from last year was from my best mate from school Stephen, and it happened to be Season 1 of ‘Star Trek: Strange New Worlds’. I enjoyed checking out the series and I was looking forward to checking out Season 2 next.

My Disney+ Roundup in February was on two films, including ‘The Apple Dumpling Gang Rides Again’ and ‘The Sorcerer’s Apprentice’. Once again, ‘The Apple Dumpling Gang Rides Again’ isn’t on Disney+ in the UK. I’m also disappointed the 1965 film ‘That Darn Cat!’ isn’t on Disney+ in the UK anymore. I’m happy I got the DVD for my Mum this Christmas. 🙂

I had another go at the ‘A Dalek Awakens’ Escape Hunt game in Cheltenham with my best mate from school Stephen. Sadly, we didn’t win, but at least we had fun doing the game. Nowadays, Ncuti Gatwa’s Fifteenth Doctor is the voice for ‘A Dalek Awakens’. When Stephen and I did the game in February, Jodie Whittaker’s Thirteenth Doctor was doing it.

I updated my review on ‘The Church of Ruby Road’ with more details about the DVD and Blu-ray special features when I received my copy of the story on Blu-ray in the post. 😀 I also saw the movie ‘Madame Web’ at the cinema. I know it’s a bad film, but I still enjoyed it. I also finished seeing Season 3 of ‘The Orville’ on Disney+, which was greatly enjoyable.
MARCH

Tim Bradley with Dad, Sarah Sutton and Mum at the ‘Devcon Sci-Fi, Toy, Film & Comic Fair’, Crowne Plaza Hotel, Plymouth, March 2024.
March was a happy month for me, as I was reunited with Sarah Sutton, my favourite ‘Doctor Who’ companion at the ‘Devcon Sci-Fi, Toy, Film & Comic Fair’ in Plymouth. Paul McGann, the Eighth Doctor, was also there at the convention. My parents joined me to see Sarah at ‘Devcon’ in Plymouth. We had a very lovely photo of all four of us taken.

My Disney+ Roundup for March this year was on two films – ‘The Mountain Between Us’ and ‘The Love Bug’, the latter being the first movie to star Herbie, the sentient Volkswagen Beetle. I also saw four 1960s ‘Carry On’ films in ‘Carry On: Collection 1’, which my Dad purchased. One of them is ‘Carry On Sergeant’ and stars William Hartnell (who played the First Doctor in ‘Doctor Who’). 😀

Towards the end of March, I shared my Easter Review Season, which happened to be ‘The Nyssa Challenge’ mini-review season that I was meant to share from December 2023 to January 2024, but was now being shared from March to April 2024. The reviews I shared in March included a brand-new review on the Big Finish audio novel ‘Prisoners of London’ by Matthew Waterhouse, the ‘Short Trips’ book reviews, including ‘The Parliament of Rats’, the ‘More Short Trips’ book reviews, including ‘The Eternity Contract’, and an updated review on ‘Castle of Fear’, the first audio story of ‘The Stockbridge Trilogy’ by Big Finish.

I shared a quick review on ‘Scooby-Doo and the Cyber Chase’, a film I purchased on DVD when I visited Plymouth earlier in the month. At the cinema, I saw ‘Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire’, which I enjoyed. It was actually the very first ‘Ghostbusters’ film I saw. 🙂

I did my Good Friday blog post in March, which included my in-depth review on the 2004 film ‘The Passion of the Christ’, just in time for the film’s 20th anniversary. I also shared my ‘Happy Easter’ blog post on Easter Sunday in March, which included a greeting from me and Sarah Sutton as well as an interview with Sarah, conducted by me when I saw at ‘Devcon’ in Plymouth.
APRIL

For April Fools in April, I didn’t share a video this time around. I shared a quick movie review on ‘Jaws 19’. This of course was the film being advertised in ‘Back to the Future, Part II’. It was fun to do a parody review of that kind for April Fools in 2024 and I included the trailer for it. 😀

I shared the rest of my 2024 ‘Nyssa Challenge’ mini-review season for Easter in April, including my updated reviews on ‘The Eternal Summer’ and ‘Plague of the Daleks’, the last two stories of ‘The Stockbridge Trilogy’, and my brand-new reviews on ‘Friendly Fire’ and ‘The Edge of the War’ from the ‘Conflicts of Interest’ CD box set, ‘Pursuit of the Nightjar’ and ‘Resistor’ from the ‘In the Night’ CD box set, and the Blu-ray trailer for Season 20 called ‘The Passenger’.

I continued my Easter celebrations in April by sharing a quick review on the film ‘The Dog Who Saved Easter’, which is part of ‘The Dog Who Saved…’ film series, which I first saw in ‘The Dog Who Saved Christmas’ trilogy of films back in December 2019. I also saw the original 1964 film ‘Mary Poppins’ at the cinema over Easter.

I shared my Disney+ Roundup on the films ‘Escape to Witch Mountain’, ‘Pooh’s Grand Adventure: The Search for Christopher Robin’ and ‘Winnie the Pooh: Springtime with Roo’. Also, on Disney+, I checked out the two ‘Homeward Bound’ movies from 1993 and 1996, which I enjoyed.

I saw the original 1984 film ‘Ghostbusters’ on BBC iPlayer, which I checked out after seeing ‘Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire’ in March. I checked out the rest of the ‘Ghostbusters’ film series in April, including ‘Ghostbusters II’, ‘Ghostbusters’ (2016) and ‘Ghostbusters: Afterlife’. All these films I saw on BBC iPlayer.

I shared a quick review on the 1983-84 TV series ‘Partners In Crime’, starring Francesca Annis and James Warwick, which I bought for my Mum as a birthday present back in March. It gave me the inspiration to write a couple of Tommy and Tuppence characters in one of my ‘Sunfire Chronicles’ stories called ‘Romance and the Cow Creamer’, which I shared later in 2024.

Tim Bradley with Peter Davison and Sarah Sutton at ‘Comic Con Mania Leicester’, Mattioli Arena, Leicester, April 2024.
Towards the end of April, I saw Peter Davison and Sarah Sutton at the ‘Comic Con Mania Leicester’ on the 27th (Jenna Coleman’s birthday, incidentally). I had a great time seeing Peter and Sarah at the convention. I enjoyed their panel talk and I got to interview Sarah on her role of Baby Roo in the 1970s Phoenix Theatre production of ‘Winnie the Pooh’. 🙂
MAY

May was where it began to go downhill for me, as it was announced on my birthday (the 8th of May) that ‘Comic Con Mania Bolton’ had been rescheduled and I wasn’t going to see Peter Davison and Sarah Sutton in May after seeing them in Leicester in April. I was heartbroken then. I still enjoyed my birthday though. I had a nice birthday photo from Sarah, thanks to Dad who purchased the photo from ‘Devcon’ in Plymouth back in March, and I saw a re-release of ‘Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace’ at the cinema. 🙂

On Early May Bank Holiday Monday in the UK, I shared my reviews on the last two stories of the ‘Timeslip’ series by Big Finish, starring Spencer Banks, Cheryl Burfield and Sarah Sutton. It was great to check out those two stories, including ‘A Life Never Lived’ and ‘The Time of the Tipping Point’. I revisited the TV show and the first two audio tales beforehand.

Another loss in May this year was that Bernard Hill, who played King Théoden in ‘The Lord of the Rings’ film trilogy, sadly passed away. It’s sad that happened. I was looking forward to seeing Bernard at ‘Comic Con Mania Bolton’ before the event got rescheduled. I’m glad I saw him in ‘The Lord of the Rings’ movies at the cinema back in January 2024. 🙂

May was an exciting time for ‘Doctor Who’ fans, as we were treated to the first half of Series 14 of the new TV series, starring Ncuti Gatwa as the Fifteenth Doctor and Millie Gibson as Ruby Sunday. I shared my spoiler free reactions on the episodes ‘Space Babies’, ‘The Devil’s Chord’, ‘Boom’ and ’73 Yards’. I greatly enjoyed doing the spoiler free reactions.

I shared another Disney+ Roundup in May on the three films ‘Herbie Rides Again’, ‘Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible No Good, Very Bad Day’ and ‘Wish’. I also had my birthday present from my best school friend Stephen, which was ‘A Christmas Carol Goes Wrong’, the sequel to ‘Peter Pan Goes Wrong’, which I had for my birthday in 2023.
JUNE

June was a tough month for me, especially with my Dad being admitted to hospital in that month, but thankfully, I was able to do my spoiler free reactions on the rest of Series 14 of the new ‘Doctor Who’ TV series, including the episodes ‘Dot and Bubble’, ‘Rogue’ and ‘The Legend of Ruby Sunday’/‘Empire of Death’. I saw the two-part finale ‘The Legend of Ruby Sunday’/’Empire of Death’ at the cinema. I found it a very fascinating experience. I also shared a quick summary and general thoughts on Series 14 of the new TV series. 🙂

Sadly, in June, we lost William Russell, who played Ian Chesterton in the classic ‘Doctor Who’ TV series with William Hartnell. I’ve had the pleasure of meeting William Russell twice at conventions and I’m pleased I’ve had photos with him. I was working on updating my reviews on Season 2 of the classic ‘Doctor Who’ TV series at the time he passed away.

I shared a new ‘Doctor Who’ timeline on my blog in June, which was for the Bannerman Road Gang, including Maria Jackson, Luke Smith, Clyde Langer, Rani Chandra, Sky Smith and Mr. Smith – the friends of Sarah Jane Smith – from ‘The Sarah Jane Adventures’. Hopefully, when I can find time, I’ll check out and review the spin-off series soon.

Dad was back with us by the time June came to an end. My parents and I saw some films, including two on Disney+, which I shared my thoughts on in a Disney+ Roundup, including ‘Romancing the Stone’ and ‘Bedtimes Stories’. Both films were very enjoyable to see.
JULY

In July, I shared my thoughts on the ‘Scooby-Doo!’ 4-Film Collection, which I purchased from HMV when I was Leicester back in April. The films include ‘Scooby-Doo and the Alien Invaders’, ‘Scooby-Doo and the Witch’s Ghost’, ‘Scooby-Doo on Zombie Island’ and ‘Scooby-Doo and the Loch Ness Monster’. I’ve found the four films entertaining indeed. 🙂

Big Finish shared the news they were doing ‘The Thirteenth Doctor Adventures’, starring Jodie Whittaker as the Thirteenth Doctor and Mandip Gill as Yasmin Khan. I shared a quick video reaction on the news. I’m currently looking forward to hearing those stories in 2025.

I got back into doing some Target novelizations/audiobooks of ‘Doctor Who’ this year. The first one was on ‘Doctor Who and the Horns of Nimon’ by Terrance Dicks, with the audiobook read by Geoffrey Beevers with John Leeson as the voice of K-9. I greatly enjoyed it. 🙂

After checking out Season 1 of ‘Star Trek: Strange New Worlds’, I purchased Season 2 on DVD and saw it gradually before I shared my thoughts on it in July. I’ve enjoyed seeing this latest ‘Star Trek’ TV series so far. I’m hoping I’ll enjoy Season 3 as soon as it becomes available.

I did another Disney+ Roundup in July, and on four films, including ‘Night at the Museum’, the 1999 TV film ‘Annie’, the Disney short film ‘Lonesome Ghosts’ and the 42-minute ‘Sauldos Amigos’. It was good to see the films and to share my thoughts on them.

Before July ended, I shared some new behind-the-scenes photos of Peter Davison and Sarah Sutton during the recording of the ‘Doctor Who’ audio story ‘Renaissance of the Daleks’ in 2006. I updated my review to include the photos, as they’re a good treat for me.

I also saw the only ‘Marvel Cinematic Universe’ film that was shown at the cinema in 2024, and it happened to be the third ‘Deadpool’ film ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’. I did a review on the film with Deadpool and Wolverine themselves as well as with Timelord007.
AUGUST

I started sharing my reviews on the three Target novelizations of the three 60th anniversary TV specials of ‘Doctor Who’, featuring the Fourteenth Doctor and Donna, once we got to August. I shared my review on the first story ‘The Star Beast’ at the start of August, with the novelization by Gary Russell and the audiobook read by Jacquline King. By the time August came to an end, I shared my review on the second story ‘Wild Blue Wonder’ with the novelization by Mark Morris and the audiobook read by Bonnie Langford.

I’d completed my writing of ‘The Sunfire Chronicles’ by this stage in 2024 and I shared the first of the four stories in August called ‘The Horns of Wulfe’, featuring the Fourth Doctor, Private James Darby (played by Timelord007) and Bazoon ‘Bazooie’ the Miggle. I also created a new ‘Doctor Who’ timeline for Bazooie, as I tied it in with the story’s release.

I was met with disappointment again when it was announced Peter Davison and Sarah Sutton wouldn’t be attending ‘Comic Con Mania Bolton’ in August. Thankfully, that was made up for me when I started checking out the eight live-action ‘Spider-Man’ movies re-released at cinemas, including ‘Spider-Man’, ‘Spider-Man 2’, ‘Spider-Man 3’ and ‘The Amazing Spider-Man’. I shared my cinema experiences of those four movies in YouTube videos via my blog.

I saw a brand-new film on Disney+ called ‘Young Woman and the Sea’, starring Daisy Ridley (Rey in the ‘Star Wars’ sequels trilogy) and Christopher Eccleston (the Ninth Doctor in ‘Doctor Who’ on TV and audio). I enjoyed ‘Young Woman and the Sea’. I found it an insightful and intriguing biographical film about the world-famous Gertrude ‘Trudy’ Ederle.

As it was summertime, I saw the sixth and final film of ‘The Dog Who Saved…’ film series ‘The Dog Who Saved Summer’. I know I haven’t seen these films in chronological order, especially as there was one more film left for me to check out by that point. They have been fascinating and fun to see though, especially with Dean Cain from ‘Lois & Clark’ in them.

I managed to share my updated reviews on Season 2 of the classic ‘Doctor Who’ TV series, starring William Hartnell as the First Doctor, via its Blu-ray box set, including the nine stories ‘Planet of Giants’, ‘The Dalek Invasion of Earth’, ‘The Rescue’, ‘The Romans’, ‘The Web Planet’, ‘The Crusade’, ‘The Space Museum’, ‘The Chase’ and ‘The Time Meddler’. I also updated my review on ‘The Romans’ Target novelization/audiobook by Donald Cotton and I shared a brand-new review on ‘The Time Meddler’ Target novelization/audiobook by Nigel Robinson. I also got the chance to update my review on ‘The Celestial Toymaker’, based on the recent animation that’s been released on DVD and Blu-ray. The animation’s fascinating if not meeting my expectations.

I did another Disney+ Roundup in August on the three films ‘Turner & Hooch’, ‘Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian’ and the 2013 film ‘The Secret Life of Walter Mitty’. I shared that the two-part ‘Star Trek: Deep Space Nine’ story ‘Past Tense’ was happening from August to September in 2024. And I got the opportunity to share that Sarah Sutton’s Private Signing via her website was happening from August to September.
SEPTEMBER

In September, my Dad had to go for a small operation in hospital. Thankfully that turned out okay. Also in the month, I shared the second story of ‘The Sunfire Chronicles’ of ‘Doctor Who’ by me called ‘Romance and the Cow Creamer’, featuring the Fifth Doctor, Nyssa and Billy Walker. I enjoyed writing the short story, as it’s my personal favourite of the set.

I shared my updated review on ‘The Underwater Menace’, based on the recent animation on DVD and Blu-ray. I enjoyed ‘The Underwater Menace’ more than ‘The Celestial Toymaker’, especially as the animation matches more to what I expect in terms of 2D animation compared to the 3D animation in the latest version of ‘The Celestial Toymaker’.

The marathon of the eight live-action ‘Spider-Man’ movies being re-released at cinemas continued with me checking out ‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2’, ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’, ‘Spider-Man: Far From Home’ (Extended Cut) and ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ (The More Fun Stuff Version). I shared my YouTube videos on my cinema experiences of the films on my blog. It was nice to revisit the eight films on the big screen.

To commemorate my late sister Bethan’s birthday in September 2024, I revisited the 1989 film ‘The Little Mermaid’ with my parents and did a brand-new review on the 2023 live-action film version of ‘The Little Mermaid’, starring Halle Bailey and Jonah Hauer-King. I enjoyed doing my in-depth review on the 2023 film after seeing it at the cinema last year.

I shared my review on the third Target novelization/audiobook of the ‘Doctor Who’ 60th anniversary TV specials called ‘The Giggle’ by James Goss, featuring the Fourteenth Doctor and Donna Noble with the audiobook read by Dan Starkey. It took me quite a while to finish ‘The Giggle’ Target novelization/audiobook, but it was a treat to check out for me.

At the end of September, I celebrated my blog’s 9th anniversary by sharing brand-new ‘Doctor Who’ timelines for the Slitheen, the Ood and the Toymaker as well as for Belinda Chandra, the next ‘Doctor Who’ companion played by Varadu Sethu to appear in Series 15 of the new TV series. I also shared the news that I would be sharing Billy Walker’s final adventures in ‘Doctor Who’ with the Fifth Doctor and Nyssa sometime soon in 2025.
OCTOBER

October was a happier month for me compared to the middle part of 2024. In October, I shared a Disney+ Roundup on three movies, including ‘Robots’, ‘Far from the Madding Crowd’ and ‘DuckTales the Movie: Treasure of the Lost Lamp’. Enjoyable films as ever.

I also shared a quick review on the web series ‘Star Trek Continues’, which I’ve been sharing my thoughts on for quite a while and I watched the series on YouTube from October to September this year. I hope I’ll get to do in-depth reviews on the episodes soon.

The third story of ‘The Sunfire Chronicles’ of ‘Doctor Who’ was shared in October called ‘The Race of Endurance’, featuring the Fifth Doctor, Nyssa, Tegan Jovanka and Michael Anderson – a character created by Xavier Downey/WilliamsFan92 for his Fifth Doctor series on his blog). I greatly enjoyed writing the story as part of ‘The Sunfire Chronicles’. 🙂

At the cinema, I saw the film ‘Joker: Folie à Deux’ (or ‘Joker 2’ as I prefer to call it). Not many people like that film and I was expecting it to be better than ‘Venom: The Last Dance’. I also saw ‘Transformers One’ at the cinema. It’s a very good ‘Transformers’ film. There was also a re-release of ‘Back to the Future, Part II’ on the 21st of October, which is ‘Back to the Future’ Day. My parents and I enjoyed seeing the film at the cinema.

I shared my updated reviews on Season 9 of the classic ‘Doctor Who’ TV series, starring Jon Pertwee as the Third Doctor. This included updated reviews on the five stories ‘Day of the Daleks’, ‘The Curse of Peladon’, ‘The Sea Devils’, ‘The Mutants’ and ‘The Time Monster’. I shared a brand-new review on the abridged audiobook read by Jon Pertwee for the Target novelization of ‘The Curse of Peladon’ by Brian Hayles, and I shared an updated review on the Target novelization/audiobook of ‘The Time Monster’ by Terrance Dicks. These reviews were very enjoyable to do and I’m looking forward to sharing my updated reviews on Season 15 of ‘Doctor Who’, starring Tom Baker as the Fourth Doctor, soon.

The highlight of October for me was seeing Peter Davison, Sarah Sutton and Janet Fielding at the ‘Exeter Comic Con and Gaming Festival’ at the Westpoint Arena in Exeter for two days. I’m very pleased I saw Peter, Sarah and Janet in October. It made up for the disappointment I had with Bolton. I’m also very pleased I got to interview Sarah about ‘The Moon Stallion’ that weekend. And I had a very hilarious photo with Sarah and Peter.

I saw a few ‘All Creatures Great and Small’-related items in October, including the ‘Christopher Timothy and Peter Davison Remember…All Creatures Great and Small’ interview and ‘The Cult of…All Creatures Great and Small’ behind-the-scenes making-of documentary. And of course, I saw Series 5 of the new ‘All Creatures Great and Small’ TV series, which was shown on Channel 5 from September to October in 2024.

I revisited ‘Sky High’ on Disney+ in October. Thus, I sought to revisit and do a review on the junior novelization of the 2005 film. I enjoyed revisiting the junior novelization, although I don’t regard it very highly considering it doesn’t contain every scene of the movie. October concluded with me sharing my review on ‘The Dog Who Saved Halloween’, the third film in ‘The Dog Who Saved…’ film series and the last one I saw out of the six films made.
NOVEMBER

November was an exciting month for me too. I shared some quick thoughts on the video released via the official ‘Doctor Who’ YouTube channel about the ‘Behind the Sofa’ item on ‘The Happiness Patrol’ in the Season 25 Blu-ray box set, featuring Sylvester McCoy (the Seventh Doctor), Shelia Hancock (Helen A) and Sophie Aldred (Ace) as well as Janet Fielding (Tegan), Wendy Padbury (Zoe) and Sarah Sutton (Nyssa) as well as Bonnie Langford (Mel) and Nicola Bryant (Peri). I’m looking forward to checking out the full-length version of the ‘Behind the Sofa’ item of the story and the Season 25 Blu-ray box set itself. 🙂

I also shared the fourth and final story of ‘The Sunfire Chronicles’ of ‘Doctor Who’ called ‘Quasar of Sarfenia’ by me and Alan Camlaan/Wolfie of the Divergent Wordsmiths. The story features the Sixth Doctor, Peri and Frobisher. It was great to finish off ‘The Sunfire Chronicles’ with a Sixth Doctor, Peri and Frobisher story and to have Wolfie help me out. 🙂

With movies at the cinema, I saw ‘Venom: The Last Dance’, which is I hope is the final ‘Venom’ film ever in ‘Sony’s Spider-Man Universe’. I also saw ‘Paddington in Peru’, the third film of the ‘Paddington’ film series. Out of the two, I enjoyed ‘Paddington in Peru’ the most. 🙂

Ncuti Gatwa, Tim Bradley and Millie Gibson at the ‘London Comic Con Winter 2024’, November 2024
In November, I attended the ‘London Comic Con Winter’ weekend. It was an exciting couple of days for me, as I saw Ncuti Gatwa (the Fifteenth Doctor) and Millie Gibson (Ruby Sunday) for the first time at a convention. I’m amazed I saw them for two days. There was also Colin Baker (the Sixth Doctor) and Bonnie Langford (Melanie Bush) that attended. 🙂

For the 61st anniversary of ‘Doctor Who’, I shared my review on the ‘Doctor Who’ book ‘Ruby Red’ by Georgia Cook, featuring the Fifteenth Doctor and Ruby, with the audiobook read by Millie Gibson, who signed the CD sleeve notes of my copy of the audiobook in London. I also re-shared my 60th anniversary stories ‘Interdimensional Rescue’ and ‘The Thirteen+ Doctors’ as well as a blog post to commemorate 61 years of the TV show.

I did my Disney+ Roundup in November, which included the 1950 film ‘Treasure Island’, ‘The Sentinel’, ‘Hocus Pocus’ and ‘The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen’. I also saw ‘Kiss Me, Kate: The Musical’ at the cinema, which was originally shown at the Barbican theatre in London from June to September 2024 and it has Peter Davison in it. 🙂
DECEMBER
2024 ended in December with me sharing my ‘Bradley’s Basement’s Advent Calendar’. The calendar itself was a series of Christmas recommendations by me, including ‘Doctor Who’ stories both TV and audio, Christmas films and Christmas specials over 24 days. 🙂

I revisited some Christmas movies at the cinema, including ‘The Polar Express’ to celebrate its 20th anniversary, ‘Elf’, ‘Home Alone’ and ‘Home Alone 2: Lost In New York’. I also saw ‘Red One’ at the cinema before I found it was about to be released on Amazon Prime Video. It was still good to see the film on the big screen after being out in November.

There were some special Christmas treats to enjoy in December. I saw ‘Sonic the Hedgehog 3’ at the cinema with my best mate Stephen. I visited ‘Christmas at Bute Park 2024’ in Cardiff, and enjoyed the night light shows they had on display for the big event.

On the 23rd of December, I saw ‘The War Games in Colour’, a colourised abridged edition of the 1969 TV story starring Patrick Troughton as the Second Doctor, Frazer Hines as Jamie and Wendy Padbury. I saw the 2024 Christmas Special of the new ‘All Creatures Great and Small’ TV series on Channel 5 called ‘All God’s Creatures’. I enjoyed them. 😀

I shared my Christmas message on ‘Bradley’s Basement’, which included a Christmas card photo of me and Millie Gibson in a Santa hat where we held cards to say, “Merry Christmas Everyone and Happy New Year”. I’m very pleased I did that photo with Millie. 🙂 I also shared a blog post that detailed my fondest Christmas memories with Sarah Sutton.

Of course, I checked out some ‘Doctor Who’ TV items over Christmas this year, including the ‘Doctor Who at the Proms’ concert that was held in August 2024 and hosted by Catherine Tate. I also shared some quick reactions via YouTube and a quick review on the 2024 Christmas Special called ‘Joy to the World’, starring Ncuti Gatwa as the Doctor.

I also saw the new ‘Wallace & Gromit’ film shown on BBC One on Christmas Day called ‘Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl’. I greatly enjoyed the film and saw it twice, both on Christmas Day and Boxing Day. It might have been the highlight for many at Christmas. 🙂

I started sharing my ‘Nyssa Challenge’ mini-review season from December 2024 to January 2025. This included updated reviews of ‘Kinda’, including the TV story and the Target novelization, with the unabridged audiobook read by Janet Fielding, and an abridged audiobook of the Target novelization read by Peter Davison. There were also reviews on the stories ‘The Merfolk Murders’ and ‘Dream Team’ from ‘The Dream Team’ box set, the the BBC Audio Originals story ‘Dark Contract’ and the Big Finish audio story ‘The Great Beyond’. I shared an updated review on ‘1001 Nights’ and I shared brand-new reviews on ‘Goth Opera’, including the latest audio adaptation and the original 1994 book.
2024 was a year fraught with personal issues for me concerning health and wellbeing for me and my family. It hasn’t been the easiest-going year for me. But despite that, I was able to achieve a lot with my ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m happy with what I’ve done.
I’m very pleased I was able to write up ‘The Sunfire Chronicles’ of ‘Doctor Who’ on my blog with input from Timelord007, WilliamsFan92, Wolfie and AFJ Kernow. The stories themselves were challenging to write, especially in tying the various plot threads together.
But I’m thankful for the writing experience and I’m glad I was able to do it, especially as I originally planned to share the series in 2023 for ‘Doctor Who’s 60th anniversary. I’m now looking forward to sharing the fifth and final season of ‘Fifth Doctor’ stories on my blog in 2025.
In terms of conventions, I’ve attended four in total. Three where I saw Sarah Sutton, two where I saw Peter Davison, and one where I met Ncuti Gatwa and Millie Gibson for the first time. It’s astonishing I’ve been able to attend these conventions and meet the stars.
The disappointment I had with the ‘Comic Con Mania Bolton’ event can’t be ignored, but I’m glad I saw Sarah as well as Peter and Janet before the end of the year. I’m looking forward to seeing them again when ‘Happy Who Year’ in Epsom arrives in January 2025. 🙂
The catching up on stuff that I hoped to achieve with ‘Doctor Who’ Blu-ray box sets and Target novelization/audiobooks hasn’t entirely gone to plan. I’m very glad I was able to update my reviews on Seasons 2 and 9 of the classic TV show via their Blu-ray box sets. 🙂
I’m currently looking forward to finishing updating my reviews on Season 15 of the classic TV series before I get onto updating my reviews on Seasons 20 and 25. There’s the brand-new in-depth reviews on Series 14 of the new TV series that I’m greatly looking forward to.
And there’s Season 7 of the classic TV series of ‘Doctor Who’ with Jon Pertwee on Blu-ray to look forward to after that. The Target novelizations/audiobooks I’m hoping to do reviews on, including some of the more recent TV stories, will be attended to as soon as possible.
I’m glad I was able to do reviews on the last two ‘Timeslip’ audio stories by Big Finish in 2024. Hopefully, once I get most of the ‘Doctor Who’ stuff completed, I’ll attend to the latest ‘Star Cops’ and ‘Dark Season’ audios, as I’m quite behind on those audio stories.
Some of the stuff I got for Christmas in 2024, include Blu-ray releases of ‘The Mandalorian’ series in ‘Star Wars’ and ‘WandaVision’ in the ‘MCU’. I’ve also received the first two seasons of ‘The Orville’ on DVD and I have Series 1 of ‘Blake’s 7’ on Blu-ray.
Whether I’ll do quick reviews on some of these or do in-depth reviews on them is another matter. I hope I’ll at least be able to acknowledge them, especially for my blog’s 10th anniversary in 2025, as one of the plans is to do follow-up reviews based on those releases.
I’m amazed with how much I’ve done in 2024, despite the fatigue I’ve had from the previous year and catching up on certain things I didn’t get to do in 2023. I’m looking forward to next year. I’m hopeful I’ll get to celebrate my blog’s 10th anniversary in style.
As well as attending ‘Happy Who Year’ in January 2025, I’m looking forward to seeing the ‘Fawlty Towers’ stage play in London in February and attend the ‘Capitol Cutaway’ convention in April. There are a few more comic cons I’d like to go to in 2025, but we’ll see what happens. 🙂
Thanks for reading!
Bye for now, best wishes and please keep safe!
See you next year! 😀
Tim 🙂
