Day 23 – ‘Bradley’s Basement’s Advent Calendar 2024

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

It’s Day 23 of ‘Bradley’s Basement’s Advent Calendar 2024.

Here’s the twenty-third Christmas recommendation by me on ‘Bradley’s Basement’.

The upcoming ‘Doctor Who’ Christmas Special ‘Joy to the World’ will be with us soon in two days’ time. For those who are saddened that Millie Gibson might not appear as Ruby Sunday in the special, then I recommend viewing ‘The Church on Ruby Road’ once more.

Having revisited ‘The Church on Ruby Road’ and Series 14 of the new ‘Doctor Who’ TV series and having had my Blu-ray cover of the story signed by Ncuti Gatwa and Millie Gibson lately, I consider the first Christmas Special with the Fifteenth Doctor very decent.

It’s not a great Christmas Special to start off Ncuti Gatwa’s era of ‘Doctor Who’, but I enjoyed how Millie Gibson as Ruby is introduced as the new ‘Doctor Who’ companion and how she gets to meet Ncuti’s Doctor for the first time. It’s quite nice to see them together.

‘The Gobin Song’ and the Goblins let the special down for me, but I was intrigued as to what was going on with Ruby Sunday and what her parentage might have been. I was anxious when the Doctor had to save Ruby from being eaten by the Goblin King as a baby.

I’m currently looking forward to revisiting ‘The Church on Ruby Road’ when it comes to checking out the novelization by Esmie Jikiemi-Pearson, with the audiobook read by Angela Wynter. If you’re a Fifteenth Doctor and Ruby fan, then definitely check this out. 🙂

Thanks for reading!

Check out what Day 23 of my ‘Bradley’s Basement’s Advent Calendars for 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022 and 2023 were about!

Bye for now!

Tim 🙂
