Hello everyone! 🙂
Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!
It’s Day 20 of ‘Bradley’s Basement’s Advent Calendar 2024.
Here’s the twentieth Christmas recommendation by me on ‘Bradley’s Basement’.

If you’re in the mood for something zany this Christmas, then I turn your attention to the 2000 film ‘The Grinch’, starring Jim Carrey. This is a Christmas film I enjoy checking out now and again, and there’s no denying that Jim Carrey delivers an enjoyable performance.
I’ve seen the 2018 CGI-animated film ‘The Grinch’ starring Benedict Cumberbatch as the character. Whilst that is an enjoyable and intriguing interpretation of the story by Dr. Seuss, I prefer the 2000 film more, especially with its mixture of darkness and humour. 🙂
I received the 2000 film on DVD for Christmas back in December 2001. It was my first experience of Jim Carrey and it’s astonishing how he provides a unique voice for the Grinch compared to using his standard voice for films like ‘Liar Liar’ and ‘Bruce Almighty’.
I’m currently looking forward to seeing Jim Carrey again in ‘Sonic the Hedgehog 3’ at the cinema. Whilst Jim Carrey has also been in the Robert Zemeckis-directed CGI animated film ‘A Christmas Carol’, I remember him more fondly as the Grinch at Christmas time.
His energy is contagious and it’s amazing how he’s able to provide a variety of expressions through his Grinch make-up. I quite like how this film delivers its message of there being more to Christmas than just commercialism and gift-giving and being about family and friends.
