Day 18 – ‘Bradley’s Basement’s Advent Calendar 2024

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

It’s Day 18 of ‘Bradley’s Basement’s Advent Calendar 2024.

Here’s the eighteenth Christmas recommendation by me on ‘Bradley’s Basement’.

Back in 2003, when I was in ‘The Lord of the Rings’ hype for ‘The Return of the King’, my parents gave me a DVD of the BBC TV production of ‘The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe’, released in 1988. I’m very fond of this classic TV adaptation.

‘The Lion, the Wardrobe and the Wardrobe’ is one of the most beloved works of children’s literature by C.S. Lewis. Over the years, it’s had many adaptations, including a cartoon film, this live-action BBC TV production, audio dramas and the 2005 live-action movie. 🙂

I love the 2005 live-action Disney film, but it was the 1988 BBC TV adaptation that got me into checking out ‘The Chronicles of Narnia’ book series and its various film and TV adaptations over the years. I’m sure I saw the 1988 TV production more than once in 2003.

‘The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe’ is certainly a story to check out at Christmas time. This is especially with our heroes, the four Pevensies – Peter, Susan, Edmund and Lucy – exploring the world of Narnia covered in endless winter and confronting the White Witch.

There’s also a scene where Father Christmas makes an appearance, and he gives presents to Peter, Susan and Lucy. The BBC TV production might have dodgy animation effects and fight scenes, but I greatly recommend checking it out in all of its six episodes.

Thanks for reading!

Check out what Day 18 of my ‘Bradley’s Basement’s Advent Calendars for 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022 and 2023 were about!

Bye for now!

Tim 🙂
