It’s Day 15 of ‘Bradley’s Basement’s Advent Calendar 2024.

Here’s the fifteenth Christmas recommendation by me on ‘Bradley’s Basement’.

Following on from yesterday, the two things I enjoyed most on Christmas Day in December 2008 were the ‘Doctor Who’ Christmas Special called ‘The Next Doctor’ and the ‘Wallace & Gromit’ film ‘A Matter of Loaf and Death’. I’ve very fond memories of them.

‘The Next Doctor’ is the fourth ‘Doctor Who’ Christmas Special in the new TV series, starring David Tennant as the Tenth Doctor. It was very exciting for me, especially with it featuring the Cybermen in it and the fact that the story takes place in Victorian London. 🙂

It’s certainly one of the best Christmas Specials I’ve come across in my life and it’s one that got me excited about ‘Doctor Who’ when I was young and into the original Russell T. Davies era. I’d happily rewatch this Christmas Special over again on DVD and BBC iPlayer.

The special also stars David Morrisey, who could have been a very good Doctor had the story kept to its title ‘The Next Doctor’. Honestly, this Christmas Special should have been called ‘The Return of the Cybermen’ or ‘The Cybermen Christmas Invasion of London’. 😀

Regardless, I highly recommend checking out ‘The Next Doctor’ if you’re in want of a ‘Doctor Who’ Christmas Special with David Tennant’s Doctor. It’s a Christmas Special that truly inspired me to pen ‘Return to Christmas’ with the Fifth Doctor, Nyssa and Billy.
