It’s Day 10 of ‘Bradley’s Basement’s Advent Calendar 2024.

Here’s the tenth Christmas recommendation by me on ‘Bradley’s Basement’.

This is another guilty pleasure I like to watch at Christmas time. ‘Jingle All the Way’ might not be regarded as a highly-favoured Christmas film, but it’s one that my parents and I enjoy seeing every year. Arnold Schwarzenegger is very entertaining in this family comedy film. 🙂

The reason why my parents purchased this film on VHS and eventually on DVD is because it reminded them of when they desperately sought to purchase a Buzz Lightyear action figure from ‘Toy Story’. Something I personally wanted as a little kid back in the mid-1990s.

The fact this film is about Arnold Schwarzenegger as a father trying to purchase a Christmas present for his son Jamie (played by Jake Lloyd, who would play Anakin Skywalker in ‘Star Wars: The Phantom Menace’) and does it on Christmas Eve is hilarious.

I’m surprised there isn’t a ‘Turbo Man’ TV series following the release of ‘Jingle All the Way’. Whether that was down to the reception the film got, I don’t know. Turbo Man would have been exciting for any kid in the 1990s, especially if you were into ‘Power Rangers’ like me.

My parents and I remember this film fondly for Arnold Schwarzenegger’s famous line “Put that cookie down! Now!” Whenever I’m about to have a chocolate chip cookie, my Dad often tells me “Put that cookie down!” It’s evidence that this film is very entertaining. 🙂
