Basement News – August 2023

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

I’ve shared a ‘Basement News’ blog post in the space of two months this year. Today however, I’m sharing a ‘Basement News’ blog post sooner than expected. This is because I’m going to be away most of the time in September due to attending conventions and going on holiday. I’ll share more on that as I get into sharing what’s been happening lately and what will happen on my blog for the rest of August and beyond. 🙂

First, in terms of my ‘Doctor Who’ 60th Anniversary Marathon, I’ve shared my reviews on the TV stories featured in the Sylvester McCoy/Seventh Doctor era from ‘Time and the Rani’ to ‘Survival’, the 1993 Children-in-Need 30th anniversary special ‘Dimensions In Time’, ‘The TV Movie’ starring Paul McGann as the Eighth Doctor, ‘The Night of the Doctor’ starring Paul McGann as the Eighth Doctor and introducing John Hurt as the War Doctor, and I’ve shared my reviews on the TV stories featured in the Christopher Eccleston/Ninth Doctor era from ‘Rose’ to ‘Bad Wolf’/’The Parting of the Ways’.

I’m currently sharing my reviews on the David Tennant/Tenth Doctor era in August and will soon be sharing my reviews on the Matt Smith/Eleventh Doctor era in September. I’ve shared my summary on Season 26 in the Seventh Doctor era, my summary on Series 1 in the Ninth Doctor era, and my summaries on Series 2 and 3 in the Tenth Doctor era. I’ve also shared my 60th Anniversary Reflections on the Seventh, Eighth, War and Ninth Doctors in the TV show.

I’ve shared more reviews on some ‘Doctor Who’ audio productions by Big Finish. There’s my review on the third and final story in ‘The Two Masters Trilogy’ called ‘The Two Masters’, starring Sylvester McCoy, Geoffrey Beevers and Alex Macqueen. I’ve also shared my reviews on ‘The Witch From The Well’, starring Paul McGann and Julie Cox; ‘The War Doctor’ story ‘Agents of Chaos’, starring John Hurt and Jacqueline Pearce, and ‘The Ninth Doctor Adventures’ anthology ‘Back to Earth’, starring Christopher Eccleston. I’ve also shared my review on the documentary film Doctor Who Am I’, starring Matthew Jacobs, who wrote the ‘Doctor Who’ TV Movie. I will soon be sharing my review on the third ‘Out of Time’ story ‘Wink’, starring David Tennant and Colin Baker. I also hope to check out and review ‘The Eleventh Doctor Chronicles, Volume 2’, starring Jacob Dudman.

With Season 20 of ‘Doctor Who’ about to be released on Blu-ray, which included the latest trailer for it starring Janet Fielding and Sarah Sutton, I shared an update blog post back in July about what I’ll be doing concerning the latest ‘Collection’ Blu-ray box sets of ‘Doctor Who’, including Seasons 2, 9 and 20. I’ve also shared updates on what I’ll be doing regarding reviews for the latest Target novelizations/audiobooks of new TV series ‘Doctor Who’ episodes and some special 60th anniversary releases like the ‘Doom’s Day’ multi-platform series and the ‘Once and Future’ audio series by Big Finish. Most of these releases will be reviewed sometime soon in 2024 and 2025.

Regarding conventions, I’ve shared my latest ‘convention memories’ blog post on the ‘H-Con’ event, which I attended back in July 2015. I will soon be sharing my final set of ‘convention memories’, which are about the ‘Bournemouth Film and Comic Con’, which I attended back in August 2015. I’m currently looking forward to three conventions this year. In September, I’ll soon be going to the ‘Popcorn TV, Film & Comic Con’ in Meadowhall, Sheffield, where Peter Davison and Sarah Sutton will be there as guests. I will shortly be going on holiday to Amroth in West Wales for a week before going off to attend the ‘Regenerations 2023’ convention in Swansea. In November, I’m looking forward to attending the ‘Scarborough Comic Con’ to celebrate ‘Doctor Who’s 60th anniversary before I go on a week’s holiday in Cheltenham.

My Fifth Doctor, Nyssa and Billy ‘Doctor Who’ story called ‘Interdimensional Rescue’ is now complete, as ‘Part 2’ of the story was recently released in Volume 2 of ‘A Sparkle of Doctors’ by the Divergent Wordsmiths. I can also happily announce that ‘The Thirteen+ Doctors’, my upcoming three-part 60th anniversary ‘Doctor Who’ special, is ready and scheduled for release in September and November. There’ll be a preview of the story at the end of September and the three episodes will be released in the first three weeks of November. Stay tuned. 🙂

In terms of movies, I’ve been checking out the ‘Indiana Jones’ films with Harrison Ford, including the first four films on Disney+ and the latest fifth film called ‘The Dial of Destiny’ at the cinema. I’ve also seen ‘Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning: Part One’ with Tom Cruise at the cinema. I don’t have any immediate plans to see any more films at the cinema, but I wouldn’t mind checking out the latest ‘Haunted Mansion’ film and ‘Blue Beetle’ should I see them in August or September. I’m sure I’ll be checking out ‘The Marvels’, ‘Wonka’, ‘Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom’ later this year.

I’ve shared my quick review on the ‘Man vs. Bee’ series with Rowan Atkinson, which I’ve seen on Netflix. I’ve reviewed the three TV movies of ‘The Incredible Hulk’ starring Bill Bixby and Lou Ferrigno, which I saw on DVD. And I’ve shared a quick review on ‘A Very Peculiar Practice’, a comedy-drama TV series starring Peter Davison, Barbara Flynn, David Troughton and Graham Crowden, which I’ve seen on Britbox.

Also on the streaming side of things, I’ve finished checking out Season 3 of ‘Star Trek: Picard’, which I’ve greatly enjoyed via Amazon Prime Video. I’ve also seen a repeat of the classic ‘Casualty’ episode that Sarah Sutton was in back in 1989 called ‘Charity’. This was shown on the Drama channel recently and I’ve seen the episode via UKTV Play.

There are movies that I’ve seen on Disney+ lately. I’ve seen two films starring Harrison Ford, including ‘Six Days, Seven Nights’ and ‘Air Force One’. I’ve also seen the Disney live-action versions of ‘Alice In Wonderland’ and ‘Alice Through The Looking Glass’, starring Johnny Deep. There’ll be more Disney+ related reviews coming soon, including a review on the latest ‘Muppets’ series called ‘The Muppet Mayhem’ and films like ‘Ever After: A Cinderella Story’ starring Drew Barrymore.

This August, I’ve been sharing my ‘Power Month’ review season, which focuses on the first half of Season 1 of ‘Mighty Morphin Power Rangers’ to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the TV show. I’m hoping to share a second ‘Power Month’ review season in 2024, which will focus on the second half of Season 1 and the first half of Season 2 of ‘Mighty Morphin’. Once the ‘Doctor Who’ 60th anniversary celebrations are over, I can get on with checking out and reviewing more ‘Power Rangers’ episodes for ‘Power Month II’ in 2024.

September looks to be exciting, especially with the upcoming conventions I’m looking forward to, including the ‘Popcorn Film, TV and Comic Con’ with Sarah Sutton and Peter Davison as well as ‘Regenerations 2023’. There’s also the release of ‘The Thirteen+ Doctors’ to look forward to. All this ties in nicely to ‘Bradley’s Basement’s 8th anniversary at the end of September. I’m hoping this will be a great start to celebrating the 60th anniversary of ‘Doctor Who’ before we get to November this year. I’m sure there will be more exciting things to check out and share on my blog very soon.

Thanks again to everyone for your continuing support on ‘Bradley’s Basement’. Please keep safe! 🙂

Thanks for reading!

Bye for now!

Tim 🙂
