Basement News – February 2022

Hello everyone! 🙂

Welcome to ‘Bradley’s Basement’ blog and I’m Tim Bradley!

And here’s the first ‘Basement News’ blog post to share in 2022. Apologies it’s taken me a while to share a news update in February, but I’ve been sorting out a number of projects in preparation for my blog. Thankfully, I can share with you what’s been happening lately and what will be on my blog in February and beyond.

A certain thing that will be happening for me in February is that I’ll be attending the ‘London Comic Con Spring’ at the Olympia at the end of the month. I’m looking forward to attending this event, as Jodie Whittaker (the Thirteenth Doctor in ‘Doctor Who’) and Mandip Gill (Yasmin Khan) will be attending. 😀 I’ll be attending the event on the Saturday only though.

There hasn’t been any news of Sarah Sutton attending a convention yet, but I’m hoping I will see her again soon. In the meantime, I’ve been enjoying the ‘Forty’ box set of ‘Doctor Who’, which is a celebration by Big Finish on the 40th anniversary of the Fifth Doctor. I’ve shared a quick review on the CD box set before I can do in-depth reviews on the two stories in the box set later in the year.

Speaking of which, I completed my ‘Nyssa Challenge’ mini-review season from 2021 to 2022 at the beginning of January. My latest ‘Nyssa Challenge’ mini-review season included ‘Hearts of Stone’ from ‘Short Trips: Companions’, the Target novelization/audiobook of ‘Time-Flight’, the first three episodes of ‘Circular Time’, ‘1963: Fanfare For The Common Men’, the Target novelization/audiobook of ‘Arc of Infinity’, ‘The Lost Resort and Other Stories’, ‘The War Master’ story ‘Killing Time’, and ‘Circular Time: Winter’.

I’m looking forward to sharing more reviews on ‘Doctor Who’ stories featuring Nyssa in the next ‘Nyssa Challenge’ mini-review season from 2022 to 2023. So far, the reviews will be on the stories in the two ‘Forty’ box sets celebrating the 40th anniversary of the Fifth Doctor, the ‘Tenth Doctor Classic Companions’ box set, ‘The Demons of Red Lodge and Other Stories’, and the ‘Short Trips: Transmissions’ anthology. Stay tuned!

In celebrating the 40th anniversary of the Fifth Doctor, I shared my eight episode anthology ‘The Coins of Deno’ featuring the Fifth Doctor, Nyssa and Billy. I also shared a blog post to celebrate the occasion, containing links to reviews on some of my favourite Fifth Doctor stories from ‘Doctor Who’ including the Season 19 stories and some Big Finish audios. There are also links to some of my Fifth Doctor, Nyssa and Billy adventures. I also shared a teaser for an upcoming Fifth Doctor, Nyssa and Billy story called ‘Return to Christmas’ (also called ‘The Dalek Christmas Invasion of Earth’).

I will soon be sharing a Short Trip adventure called ‘The Two Sarah Janes’, featuring the Fourth Doctor, James Darby and Sarah Jane Smith. This is the third in a trilogy of Short Trips featuring James Darby as played by Timelord007. The first two stories were ‘The Dimension Serpents’ and ‘Lady and the Soldier’. I’m hoping to share ‘The Two Sarah Janes’ in April.

On New Year’s Day, I saw the 2022 New Year’s Day Special of ‘Doctor Who’ called ‘Eve of the Daleks’, starring Jodie Whittaker as the Thirteenth Doctor, Mandip Gill as Yaz and John Bishop as Dan. I enjoyed the New Year’s Day Special. I’m currently looking forward to the next 2022 Special called ‘Legacy of the Sea Devils’, which I hope will be transmitted on BBC TV at Easter time. I’m also looking forward to sharing a new complete review on Series 13 of ‘Doctor Who’, which is the six-part story called ‘Flux’.

I’ve been updating my reviews on Season 17 of ‘Doctor Who’ with Tom Baker on Blu-ray, which includes the six stories ‘Destiny of the Daleks’, ‘City of Death’, ‘The Creature From The Pit’, ‘Nightmare of Eden’, ‘The Horns of Nimon’ and ‘Shada’. I’ll be sharing my updated reviews on the six stories of Season 17 in March.

I created a new ‘Doctor Who’ timeline for Ann Kelso (real name: Anya Kingdom). This was for me to review ‘The Syndicate Master Plan’ season of ‘Doctor Who’ with Tom Baker, Jane Slavin and K-9, which I’ve shared on my blog lately. I’m currently looking forward to checking out ‘The Dalek Protocol’ with Tom Baker and the ‘Dalek Universe’ audios with David Tennant soon.

I’ve shared reviews on ‘Doctor Who’ books/audios like ‘The Roundheads’ by Mark Gatiss, featuring the Second Doctor, Polly, Ben and Jamie and the Target novelization/audiobook of ‘Delta and the Bannermen’, featuring the Seventh Doctor and Mel. I’ve aslo shared a quick review on ‘Lockdown: The Doctor Who Fans’ Survival Guide’, presented by Sophie Aldred.

I made some predictions about the upcoming ‘Morbius’ film starring Jared Leto, based on its latest film trailer. And I’ve shared updated reviews on ‘The Lord of the Rings’ BBC radio series, starring Ian Holm and Michael Horden. I’ve recently shared my review on the 1991 children’s TV serial ‘Dark Season’ by Russell T. Davies. I’m hoping to share a review on the BBC novelization/Big Finish audiobook on the serial soon.

In terms of comedy, I’ve recently shared my updated reviews on the ‘Keeping Up Appearances’ series with Patricia Routledge as well as a new review on the prequel ‘Young Hyacinth’. I’ve also made a start on revisiting ‘It Ain’t Half Hot Mum’ and doing in-depth reviews on each of the episodes of the eight seasons of the show.

I recently shared quick reviews on films like 1995’s ‘Jumanji’, ‘Christmas Eve on Sesame Street’, ‘Casper’, ‘Casper: A Spirited Beginning’, ‘Appointment with Death’, ‘The Muppets Take Manhattan’, ‘Howard the Duck’ and ‘Birdemic: Shock and Terror’. Most of these were leftover Christmas presents from 2021.

I’ve also seen films on Disney+ like ‘Shadow Conspiracy’, ‘People Like Us’, ‘Zootropolis’ and 1959’s ‘Journey to the Centre of the Earth’. I would like to see the five ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ movies sometime as well as ‘Bedknobs and Broomsticks’. I’m hoping to share a review on the film ‘Tom and Huck’ soon.

I’ve shared my reviews on the BBC TV series ‘Sherlock’ starring Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman, which includes the 12 episodes of the four seasons and the 2016 New Year’s Day Special ‘The Abominable Bride’. I’ve also started my ‘Transformers Film Review Season’ by taking a look at 2007’s ‘Transformers’ and ‘Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen’. I’ll be sharing reviews on the last three Michael Bay-directed ‘Transformers’ films ‘Dark of the Moon’, ‘Age of Extinction’ and ‘The Last Knight’ as well as ‘Bumblebee’ later in February.

I greatly enjoyed the rest of ‘Around the World in 80 Days’ with David Tennant on BBC One and BBC iPlayer in January. I’ve also finished seeing Season 2 of ‘The Muppet Show’ on Disney+. I’m currently watching Series 11 of ‘Call the Midwife’ on BBC One as well as ‘Superman & Lois’ on BBC iPlayer and ‘The Orville’ on Disney+. I hope to share quick reviews on those shows soon. I’m hoping to see the rest of ‘The Book of Boba Fett’, Season 2 of ‘Alex Rider’ and Season 2 of ‘Star Trek: Picard’ later in the year.

It’s currently busy for me as I write reviews and prepare new stories for my blog. I’m looking forward to the ‘London Comic Con Spring’ at the end of February and I hope it will be a safe and enjoyable weekend. I also hope to see Sarah Sutton later in the year as soon as she’s announced for a convention sometime. I also hope things will continue to improve concerning the Covid-19 pandemic as we progress further into 2022.

In the meantime, please keep safe!

Thanks for reading and many thanks for continuing to support my blog!

Bye for now!

Tim. 🙂
