‘THE ONE-EYED IDOL’
Please feel free to comment on my review.

I didn’t think much of this story when I saw it. It has a villain called Harley Clivendon who’s a mastermind hunter and an Australian. He employs this thief who is a black man with a bone in his nose and he can climb up walls like Spider-Man. I think that would be considered racially insensitive.
In the story, someone sends a one-eyed idol to J. Jonah Jameson at his Daily Bugle office. Jameson becomes hypnotised by the idol to steal his own cash by putting it into the idol’s head. Spider-Man tackles the black man thief before he gets knocked out by a boomerang sent by Harley Clivendon. 😐
Clivendon soon captures Spider-Man and tries to kill him using an elevator crashing onto him. Thankfully, Spider-Man is able to free himself and he captures both crooks for the police to take away. These ‘Spider-Man’ stories in the 1960s TV series do focus on a lot of action rather than story.
There’s also a sense that Jameson keeps getting the centre of attention whereas there could be other characters that might be a victim of the villain(s)’s plan than Jameson. My Mum commented that there isn’t enough character development for Peter Parker, making the stories very lacklustre.
‘The One-Eyed Idol’ rating – 5/10
