‘THE FANTASTIC FAKIR’
Please feel free to comment on my review.

This ‘Spider-Man’ story might be considered racially insensitive by today’s standards. I know this story was made at a different time, but I think it would’ve been better to have Spider-Man meet the Fantastic Four instead of the Fantastic Fakir. Actually, I wish Spidey did meet the Fantastic Four here.
In the story, Spidey fails to stop the villainous Fakir from stealing a precious ruby. The ruby belongs to the Maharaja who is on his yacht. I’m not sure if the Fakir is working against the Maharaja or not, but as Spidey finds out for himself, the Maharaja aboard his yacht is not real. He’s actually a dummy.
The real Maharaja has had engine trouble with his yacht. The Fakir uses a flute to control crocodiles when Spidey visits the Maharaja’s yacht to take photos of the Maharaja as Peter Parker on Jameson’s behalf. The Fakir can also control an elephant which happens to be an illusion in this tale.
Eventually, Spider-Man outwits the Fakir and webs him up to be arrested. Peter Parker sadly doesn’t get his bonus when Jameson finds out the Maharaja was a dummy on the ship the Fakir had. Jameson also complains about Peter Parker not being about. Doesn’t he have other photographers?
‘The Fantastic Fakir’ rating – 5/10
