‘TIL DEATH DO US PART’ (DS9)

Please feel free to comment on my review.

This episode continues the nine-part story arc that began in ‘Penumbra’ where the ‘DS9’ series comes to an end. ‘Til Death Do Us Part’ is the second episode of that arc. How will things continue?!

Worried about what the Prophets said to him about marrying Kasidy Yates, Sisko receives a visit from Louise Fletcher as Kai Winn. She soon experiences a vision that she thinks came from the Prophets.

This happens to be the first vision that the Prophets have sent her. For a while, Winn has been jealous of Sisko as the Emissary receiving visions from the Prophets. All of this seems to change here.

The Prophets said to Winn that ‘the Sisko has faltered’. They have chosen her to guide the ‘restoration’ of Bajor. She is to be aided by a certain guide who will have ‘the wisdom of the land’. 😐

The guide happens to be Marc Alaimo as Dukat who is disguised as a Bajoran in the episode. He visits Kai Wainn, posing as a Bajoran farmer called Anjohl Tennan whose life was spared in the occupation.

I must say, Marc Alaimo as a Bajoran must have been the easiest make-up job for him as it seems to be just the nose. It’s very different compared to the Cardassian make-up Marc Alaimo often wears as Dukat. 😀

‘Anjohl’ makes out that he was spared during the occupation thanks to Winn’s intervention. Winn believes that ‘Anjohl’ is the ‘man of the land’ who is the guide that the Prophets have sent to her. 😐

Dukat uses his charms to play to Winn’s ego whilst he’s posing as ‘Anjohl’. He also plays to her jealousy of Sisko’s status as the Emissary and the two become very close. Too close in my own opinion.

I mean they actually kissed each other by the end of the episode. 😮 If only Winn knew ‘Anjohl’ was a Cardassian. One of Winn’s aides, James Otis as Solbor, disapproves of Winn and ‘Anjohl’ together. 😐

Whilst this is going on, Sisko tells Penny Johnson as Kasidy Yates about the Prophets warning him about getting married. Very soon, the engagement is broken off and Sisko is very unhappy about it.

Sisko raises his doubts about what the Prophets have said to him to Colonel Kira. Kira tells him he’s doing the right thing by following the will of Prophets. Sisko’s still miserable about the whole thing. 😦

Eventually, Sisko chases after Kasidy before she’s about to leave DS9. He tells her he wants to marry her regardless of what the Prophets say. Eventually, the two are married in a last-minute ceremony.

Barry Jenner as Admiral Ross is there to officiate and see the couple married off. Aron Eisenberg as Nog is there as well as Jake, Kira, Odo, Bashir, O’Brien and Quark. It seems to be a happy occasion. 🙂

Before Sisko puts the ring on Kasidy’s finger, he receives another vision from the Prophets in the form of Deborah Lacey as Sarah, Sisko’s mother. Sarah tries dissuading Sisko from marrying Kasidy. 😦

Sisko tells Sarah and the Prophets that he will never be happy without Kasidy. In the end, Sisko and Kasidy do get married. One wonders what ‘trial’ lies ahead for Sisko after going against the Prophets.

Meanwhile, Ezri and Worf are held prisoner aboard the Breen ship. They continue to argue with each other about their complex relationship, their recent ill-advised sexual encounter and Jadzia’s legacy.

Both Ezri and Worf are painfully interrogated by the Breen. After she returns from her interrogation session, Worf hears Ezri through her delirious state and she declares her love for Dr. Julian Bashir. 😮

This inflames Worf’s jealously even further. Ezri finds it difficult to talk to Worf once he reveals to her that she declared her feelings for Julian. Ezri is so gobsmacked she even declared those feelings.

Eventually, the Breen deliver Worf and Ezri into the custody of the Dominion. This includes meeting up with Jeffrey Combs as Weyoun and Casey Biggs as Damar aboard a Dominion ship in outer space.

Salome Jens as the Female Changeling is also in this episode, though Ezri and Worf don’t meet her here. It’s finally revealed that the Breen have allied themselves with the Dominion. What a shock! 😮

I’m not sure what to make of that since I don’t know the Breen that well as a ‘Star Trek’ alien race. I know they can be intimidating in their outfits, but I’ve only seen them in a few episodes or so here. 🙂
