Here is ‘The Unbound Ninth Doctor (Shalka)’s Timeline’.
I’ve referred to
- ‘The History of the Doctor’ website – http://www.doctorwhoreviews.altervista.org/Index.html
and
- The Eyespider ‘Doctor Who’ site index – http://eyespider.org.uk/drwho/compleat.html
to help me put this version of the timeline together.
The (Webcast) story is highlighted in BOLD and TEAL.
The (Book) stories are to remain un-highlighted for now.
The short story is highlighted in ITALICS and is CENTRED.
The stories with links to reviews by me on my blog are highlighted in BOLD and TEAL.
Regarding the (Book) stories, I’ve identified each of them as follows in the KEY below.
KEY
*EDA – Eighth Doctor Adventures
Regarding the short stories, I’ve identified each of them as follows with abbreviations.
- (DVW) – Divergent Wordsmiths
Please feel free to ask questions about this timeline, as I intend to revisit this and add new stories to the list as time goes on.
The Unbound Ninth Doctor (Shalka)’s Timeline
- The Wrong Doctor (Game)
- Scream of the Shalka (Webcast)
‘The Feast of the Stone’ (Short Story)
The Unbound Ninth Doctor (Shalka)’s cameo in ‘The Tomorrow Windows’ (Book) – EDA* takes place here.
The Unbound Ninth Doctor (Shalka)’s appearance in ‘The Station of Possibilities’ (DVW) takes place here.
The Unbound Ninth Doctor (Shalka)’s cameo in ‘The Thirteen+ Doctors’ takes place here.
N.B. The Unbound Ninth Doctor (Shalka) is an alternative Ninth Doctor. Therefore it is assumed the Unbound Ninth Doctor (Shalka) takes place after ‘The Eighth Doctor’s Timeline’ in an alternative universe.

How do we know it’s an alternate Ninth?
Couldn’t it just be a middle-aged War Doctor (ninth in his original cycle), middle-aged First Doctor (ninth counting the previous eight who were married to Patience and may have been the Other or a different individual), or the ninth of a different regeneration cycle?

Hi Okuku
I’m afraid I don’t have an answer to that.
I’m waiting to hear an official announcement that the Shalka Doctor does fit in with the continuity between Eight and War. So far it’s unclear at the moment. Interesting theory you have about him being a middle-aged War Doctor.
Merry Christmas!
Tim. 🙂

Hiya – massive Shalka fan here, just thought I’d let you know that recently his Doctor appeared in an episode of the game Lost in Time, the episode is titled ‘The Wrong Doctor’.
In the episode, he is solely accompanied by the Master, no Alison so we can therefore infer it takes place for him before Scream of the Shalka.
I don’t know if it’s something you plan on adding to the timeline or not but just thought it would be worth mentioning – it is quite obscure as it’s not even on his page on TARDIS wiki.

Hi Benjamintslp,
Thanks for letting me know about the ‘Lost in Time’ episode ‘The Wrong Doctor’. Much appreciated. I don’t play the game myself, but I can certainly add it to the Shalka Doctor’s timeline, no problem. I’m hoping when I check out the ‘Doom’s Day’ series, I’ll be checking out the two ‘Lost in Time’ episodes featured in that series somehow.
Best wishes,
Tim 🙂

I thought RTD had explained this now.
At some stage, possibly during the Time War, the Eighth/McGann Doctor bigenerates, resulting in Richard E Grant.
The Eighth Doctor is no longer able to regenerate. He crashes on Karn, snd accepts that it’s over. However, the Sisterhood give him a magic potion, allowing him to regenerate into John Hurt, then Eccleston…

Hi Greg,
Thanks for sharing this insight. I’ve not come across it before. When did Russell T. Davies explain that the Eighth Doctor (Paul McGann) bigenerated into the Shalka Doctor (Richard E. Grant)? Was it in an interview or in one of the recent stories? Please let me know.
Many thanks,
Tim 🙂
