Krashen and Time Paradoxes with the Third Doctor, Jo and the Brigadier
This story called ‘Honest Living’ is by Jason Loborik. It features the Third Doctor, Jo and the Brigadier. This is the first time I’ve come across Jason Loborik as a ‘Doctor Who’ writer. He’s impressed me so far with his writing. I’ve greatly enjoyed checking out this Third Doctor, Jo and Brigadier adventure. 🙂
In many respects, ‘Honest Living’ is a sequel to ‘Day of the Daleks’, as it features time-travelling guerrillas attempting to change the course of history. Unfortunately, the time paradoxes manage to resolve themselves. Soon, characters like Krashen and Tuala are erased from existence as a result. 😐
It was nice to have references to Anat and Sir Reginald Styles from ‘Day of the Daleks’ when establishing what’s going on with Krashen and Tuala choosing to live in the past but unable to conduct an honest living. 🙂 It became tense when Jo got captured by Tuala as a prisoner in this story.
You can be forgiven for being mind-boggled as to what’s going on, especially by the story’s climax when the time paradoxes resolve themselves, erasing Krashen and Tuala, and how the Doctor and Jo manage to get out of being wiped out. Despite that, I found this tale very engaging to read throughout.
There’s an incident in the story where Annie Forbes has her husband brought back to life by Krashen when he got killed in an accident. Unfortunately, once the paradoxes have resolved themselves, the Doctor visits Annie and her daughter Kate at their home to discover that Bernard Forbes has gone. 😐
‘Honest Living’ rating – 8/10
