An Interactive (Sort-of) Adventure with the Third Doctor and Sarah Jane on Valdamar IV

This story is by Lou Anders, and it features the Third Doctor and Sarah Jane. I found this an intriguing story to check out, since it’s written in the second person, and it directs its attention to you. Yes, this is an interactive adventure featuring the Third Doctor and Sarah Jane, though that is a bit debatable.

You see, the events of this story take place on the planet Valdamar IV and the story assumes you to be a part of that planet and that you’re a Professor. It assumes you know about a certain science the Doctor knows about. I don’t know about you, but I don’t feel like I’m that particular character at all.

I would have preferred it if the story had the reader be a young enthusiastic one-off TARDIS traveller who helped the Third Doctor and Sarah Jane out on an adventure to solve a very strange mystery on an alien planet. That would have been more interactive, instead of the story assuming your identity.

In this story, the Doctor gets accused of a murder at a science laboratory. He is put on trial for the crime, and mercifully, the story provides the highlights of the trial, with the prosecution conducted by Reverend Professor Durgovantillon. I wonder if the reader’s character’s name is as long as that. 😀

I liked how Sarah Jane utilises her journalism skills to help save the Doctor and to find a way to prove his innocence. The story also involves an Egg that is essential on the planet Valdamar IV. The story concludes with the Third Doctor and Sarah Jane leaving the planet as well as on an open-ended note.
