A Window with the Second Doctor, Jamie and Zoe plus the Seventh Doctor and Ace

This story called ‘uPVC’ is by Paul Farnsworth. It features the Second Doctor, Jamie and Zoe as well as the Seventh Doctor and Ace. The story is divided into two staves (mini-chapters). The first stave features the Second Doctor, Jamie and Zoe whilst the second features the Seventh Doctor and Ace. 🙂

Whilst I appreciate the story being divided into two staves and featuring two sets of Doctors and companions linked together, I wish the Seventh Doctor and Ace segment was longer, as it felt shorter than the Second Doctor, Jamie and Zoe segment. Stave II feels like an epilogue in the story. 😐

In the story, the Second Doctor, Jamie and Zoe are visited by a window salesman called Bill Rigby. How he got into the time vortex and managed to knock on the doors of the TARDIS is never explained. After trying to get rid of him for a bit, the Second Doctor listens to Bill Rigby’s sales offers.

Years later, Ace is wandering in the corridors of the TARDIS before she comes across a padlocked door and decides to break in. The Seventh Doctor appears and is angry with her. After Ace leaves, chastened, the Seventh Doctor enters the room, which has a window that shows a view of Gallifrey.

It was fascinating to notice the contrast of the Second Doctor purchasing the window containing a view of Gallifrey when he was on the run from the Time Lords compared to the Seventh Doctor, who’s older and doesn’t have the same childhood feelings he had of Gallifrey when he was young. 😐
