‘BIRDS OF A FEATHER’ (MMPR)
Please feel free to comment on my review.

This ‘Power Rangers’ episode is the first one to feature Tommy’s absence in the TV series. I wondered what became of Tommy, as he lost the Green Ranger powers in the previous story – ‘The Green Candle’. I hoped that he would return in the series and that he’d be the Green Ranger again. 🙂
Anyway, ‘Birds of a Feather’ has Zack teaching his hip-hop martial arts class. He mentors one of his students, Kameron, to take part in an upcoming Junior Martial Arts competition. Bulk and Skull also mentor their own young student for the competition. This happens to be a young boy named Biff. 😮
Biff?! From that, I’m assuming this is Biff’s son – Biff, Jr. – from ‘Back to the Future’. Who knows?! Maybe Bulk and Skull’s Biff will have a son called Griff, who will cause trouble in the ‘futuristic’ 2015. Maybe the ‘Power Rangers’ and the ‘Back to the Future’ universes are co-existing with each other. 😀
Incidentally, the actor who plays Biff – Farrand Thompson – went on to play a young Ryan Steele in one of the ‘Power Ranger’ sister TV shows called ‘VR Troopers’. Not that I’ve seen ‘VR Troopers’, but it’s intriguing to discover these connections. Biff only makes one appearance in the ‘Power Rangers’ series.
Meanwhile, Rita Repulsa sends her deadly 40-story-tall Hatchasaurus, commanded by a heart called Cardiotron. The Power Rangers are sent in to stop the monster by using their Dinozords. In fact, most of the episode has the Rangers fight in the Dinozords before they all form to be the Dino Megazord.
But the large and deadly bird/dinosaur hybrid becomes too much for the Rangers. Jason uses the Green Ranger powers to summon the Dragonzord to defeat Hatchasaurus. But every time they try to defeat the monster, it keeps coming back together. Rita also puts a binding spell on the Dragonzord.
Eventually, Jason goes into Hatchasaurus. He tries to stop the supercomputer inside, controlled by Cardiotron. Jason gets tangled up in Cardiotron’s tentacles, but he soon uses the Green Ranger powers to fight the evil heart. 🙂 Seeing the Red Ranger in the Green Ranger’s Dragon Shield is cool. 🙂
Thankfully, the Rangers defeat Cardiotron and Hatchasaurus. Kameron manages to beat Biff in the Junior Martial Arts Competition. Scorpina also appears in this episode. And she does…ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!!! Err, what was the point of having her appear in this decent ‘Power Rangers’ episode?! 😐
‘Birds of a Feather’ (MMPR) rating – 7/10
