‘THE THREE-PIECE SUITE’

In this episode, Hyacinth expects a delivery of a brand new three-piece suite to her house. Apparently, the suite is meant to be an exact replica of the one at Sandringham House. Hyacinth decides to give her old three-piece suite to Onslow, Daisy and Rose, provided that they pick it up. 😀

This episode does demonstrate Hyacinth’s snobbery. The reason she wants this new three-piece suite is because she wants to show off to one of her neighbours, Mrs. Barker-Finch. The delivery van happens to have the royal warrant on both sides and Hyacinth wants Mrs. Barker-Finch to see this. 😐

I liked it when Rose picked up the telephone first, thinking it’s her on-and-off boyfriend Boris, but it’s actually Hyacinth instead. It was also funny when Rose called up to Daisy to wake her up. Daisy wakes up, annoyed that Hyacinth thinks she’s still in bed. Well, you’re still in your pyjamas, Daisy. 😀

It was amusing when Hyacinth got into a panic once the phone rang away and she believes it’s her new three-piece suite damaged during the delivery. But of course, it’s her sister Violet and later on her son Sheridan who are phoning Hyacinth. Sometimes Hyacinth can be over-reactive in the stories.

Violet phones Hyacinth up to tell her about her husband Bruce’s recent ‘kerb-crawling’. This is something that Hyacinth doesn’t get when she thinks Bruce is driving his Mercedes very slowly. Sheridan phones his mother up to tell her that he wants to become a poet and go abroad to Iceland.

Soon the delivery van arrives, but it’s too early for Hyacinth’s agenda. Richard asks the delivery men to go around the block again. They do this, but their van has an accident. It was funny when Onslow, Daisy and Rose came ‘to the rescue’ in their van and they delivered Hyacinth’s new three-piece suite.

Nick Burnell guest stars as the delivery van driver and David Keller plays his mate. It was funny when Emmet answered the door and saw Hyacinth before he closed the door in fright. Elizabeth is shocked Emmet left Hyacinth at the door of her house. Emmet doesn’t want Hyacinth to sing at him again. 😀

Hyacinth is also clearly embarrassed by her family Onslow, Daisy and Rose when they come to pick up the old three-piece suite before the delivery van with the new one comes round again. Hyacinth makes out Onslow, Daisy and Rose are strangers and she gives them direction when out in the open.
