‘A JOB FOR RICHARD’

This is how Series 4 of ‘Keeping Up Appearances’ begins! 🙂 In this episode, Hyacinth tries to get a new executive job for Richard. To work at Frosticle’s Frozen Foods! Richard isn’t too keen on the idea, especially when Hyacinth suggests they meet the manager on the golf course later that day. 😀

It was made clear in the Series 2 episode called ‘Hyacinth Tees Off’ (or ‘Golfing with the Major’) that Richard doesn’t like playing golf. But Hyacinth had already contrived a plan. It involves Onslow! Onslow is meant to stand about on the golf course and look suspicious and quite menacing indeed. 🙂

This is so Richard can throw Onslow out and off the golf course to impress Mr. Millburn, the manager of Frosticle’s Frozen Foods. Richard does this well when he throws Onslow out and off the golf course. I sometimes feel sorry for Onslow as Hyacinth took advantage of him looking suspicious.

Onslow however is in on Hyacinth’s plan. There’s a guarantee supply of beer, smoky bacon crisps and Frosticle’s Frozen Foods for him. I liked that scene where Onslow is in the car with Daisy and he tells her what he has to do according to Hyacinth. Daisy seems concerned; Onslow isn’t bothered. 😀

In this episode, Frederick Jaeger guest stars as Mr. Millburn, the manager of Frosticle’s Frozen Foods. Frederick has appeared in an episode of ‘Some Mothers Do ‘Ave Them’ and he’s also appeared in three ‘Doctor Who’ TV adventures, including ‘The Savages’, ‘Planet of Evil’ and ‘The Invisible Enemy’.

It was very funny when Emmet tried to train Elizabeth to say “No” to Hyacinth about meeting her for morning coffee. They try it out at home and Liz gets it wrong, which annoys Emmet. It was very funny when they try it at the door, but Hyacinth dragged the two in without letting them say a word.

I found it funny when David Janson as the postman tried to sneak a letter into Hyacinth’s letter box, but Hyacinth had just come home in a taxi to see him creeping up to her house. It was also funny when Richard became terrified by a pillion rider that was taller than him and fiercer than Onslow. 😀

I like how the episode finished with Hyacinth telling Richard she’d been offered a job with Frosticle’s. Richard tells Hyacinth to take it. I actually thought Hyacinth was going to say “Yes!” to it. It was so funny when Hyacinth told Richard she declined the job to be with him. Richard sobs away at the end.
